So people are excited, while naturally there are those who are miserable.
For example, Jiang Yu’s roommates Wang Xueyi and He Tao, although they’re smiling, are sowhat feeling unsettled inside.
The two of them have been roommates with Jiang Yu for four years, yet never once did Jiang Yu ntion wanting to treat them to a al individually, unlike so other male dormitories, who have dorm gatherings or other events.
Wang Xueyi and He Tao exchanged a glance and saw the gloominess in each other’s eyes.
"He’s treating tonight, are you going?"
After thinking for a while, Wang Xueyi leaned closer to He Tao and whispered softly,
"I’m going back this afternoon, there’s so family matters I need to deal with. Once that’s sorted, I’ll look to rent a place near Jingcheng University for exam prep."
Pausing, he gritted his teeth a bit and uttered, "Even if I lose a piece of flesh, I’m determined to get into Jing University’s postgraduate program this ti!"
"Uh... I, I won’t go either then?"
Listening to his words, He Tao flashed a hesitant look, paused for a mont, and softly said,
"I’m taking leave from the TV station to co, I have to rush back for work."
The two stuck their heads together, whispering for a while, though nobody knew what they were discussing.
Jiang Yu didn’t bother about who was coming or not. He turned to Hu Zhihai and said,
"Hey fatty, go check if the advisor’s around, if he is, tell him to co along tonight."
"Oh oh, got it!"
Hu Zhihai nodded repeatedly, stood up from his seat, and strode out of the classroom to find the advisor.
Soon enough, he returned, beaming at Jiang Yu and happily said,
"I told Lao Chen. He was overjoyed, you’d think he’s dreaming."
Lao Chen is their class advisor, a senior who graduated from their departnt not too long ago, only a few years older.
A group of people were talking noisily for a while. Before long, a female teacher from the office ca over, knocked on the table and addressed them:
"The defense teachers have arrived, so stop your chitchat. If you leave a bad impression, don’t cry when you don’t graduate!"
Everyone instantly fell silent, and the classroom was quiet.
With graduation looming, many have secured jobs. If there’s an issue now and the diploma isn’t granted, wouldn’t that be disastrous?
"Let’s start drawing lots now."
The female teacher said, placing a transparent plastic lottery box on the table, then continued,
"When the defense starts, teachers will call out a number one by one. Whoever’s number is called will go in for the thesis defense.
The defense usually lasts 8-10 minutes, so during it, don’t babble and waste ti, as this will only hinder your defense from passing smoothly.
Alright, co up one by one to draw lots!"
Once she finished speaking, everyone in the classroom stood up and walked forward to draw their lots.
"Dammit! My terrible luck... I’m number 1! First up for the thesis defense!"
"Haha, lucky , I got number 8, my lucky number. This defense is in the bag!"

With lots drawn, the classroom began buzzing again. Hu Zhihai revealed his paper and frowned:
"Damn! I drew number 28, which ans I have to wait until the afternoon for the defense?"
Saying this, he turned to check Jiang Yu’s paper and asked, "Lao Jiang, what’s your number?"
Jiang Yu unhurriedly unfolded his paper, glanced at it and chuckled:
"Number 6. After the defense, I can still make it back to help Xiaowu cook a few dishes."
