Shin only had less than a second before he could activate the talisman on his hand. His barrier was nothing in front of these flas. After all, they were produced by the collision between the two Domain Realm Experts.

Shin had chosen this talisman over the one that could directly teleport him back to the Springfield Household since that one needed a couple of seconds before it could fully activate. He would be toasted by the raging flas around him before he could even activate it.
