Nyx woke up from her bed. For her, it was just an ordinary day.

She had gotten used to the so-called academy life.

Even though she didn't show it, she was slowly starting to enjoy it– just a little.

She had been trained in isolation even since she was just a child.

Her father had raised her to beco a secret weapon for the clan.

Ruthless and strong.

A perfect blade in the shadows.

That was her fate.

Or at least, it was supposed to be.

Yet, no matter how much he tried to break her, so part of her emotions still remained.

Held tightly together by a single mory.

Her mother's gentle hands combing her hair, whispering words she could barely recall now.

That was the only warm mory she had. The last thing that was keeping her from turning into a true monster.

Then there was her brother.

That idiot.

Unlike her, he didn't have any restrictions. He wasn't raised to beco a perfect weapon.

No restrictions.

No endless training.

He could go wherever he wanted and do whatever he pleased.

Do anything he wants.

She hated him for that.

Every ti he ca to et her, she beat him up without any hesitation. And every ti, he would just laugh it off like an idiot.

Her favourite words to him were always the sa: "Stupid fool."

And yet…

Sowhere, deep inside, a part of her envied him.

_

Then, one day, everything changed.

A prophecy.

It was a ridiculous thing—yet her father, always skeptical, had believed it.

And because of that, he sent soone he trusted to this barren planet.

He chose her.

At first, she was furious.

Why ?

Why did I have to leave everything I knew to co to this place?

But as ti passed… she found herself enjoying it.

For the first ti, she wasn't trapped inside a cold and dark prison.

For the first ti, she wasn't being treated like a weapon.

For the first ti, she had freedom.

After her defeat by the hands of Amyra, she understood one thing.

She didn't want this mission to end now.

She didn't want to go back anymore.

Even though she hadn't made any friends, even though she still didn't trust anyone, she was starting to feel sothing new.

Sothing she didn't fully understand yet.

But she didn't have any choice. This world was destined to et its doom sooner or later.

At most, she had ten years.

So, she was going to enjoy this ti to the fullest before returning back.

She didn't have any delusions about running sowhere, hiding from her father.

No.

It wasn't possible to hide from her father.

__

After dismissing useless thoughts, she quickly took a shower and had breakfast.

As always, she was running late.

It had beco her daily routine to attend classes late.

She soon arrived in front of the class door and used her teleportation to appear at her usual seat.

After the attendance was down, all students started to murmur among themselves about the class trip that their instructor had just announced.

She didn't have anyone to chat with.

No friends… nothing.

She didn't know how to interact with people after all.

The only people outside her family mbers she interacted with were her servants, who all treated her with reverence.

When she had first arrived in the empire, she had been naive.

A group of n had tried to scam her—to trick her into becoming a slave.

Pathetic.

Even with her strength suppressed, she had wiped them out without effort.

That day, she understood sothing very clearly.

She couldn't trust anyone.

People were vile, deceptive, and dangerous.

But even so, she found herself watching them.

Curious.

Observing how they interacted, how they laughed, and how they ford connections so easily.

It was sothing she had never learnt.

Soon the boring classes were all over, and it was ti for combat classes.

The combat class instructor soon announced that today's class would be a spar.

She didn't have anyone.

Others were quickly forming pairs, which flustered her.

What should I do?

Her face was still cold as ice, a result of her training.

After everyone paired up, she was standing alone.

At least that's what she thought until the instructor asked her to pair up with one other loner.

She looked at the person he was pointing at.

Huh?

Why is he alone?

She knew Alden.

He was one of the targets she was keeping an eye on recently.

She had seen him with that brown haired boy-Aziel..

It doesn't matter.

I'll just get this over with soon.

I just want to go to that cafe I found last ti.

She quickly went to the arena after putting on the mana suppression bracelets.

She was used to it. She had been training with it from her childhood.

__

Nyx's cold blue eyes scanned her opponent as she waited in the sparring arena.

Alden Draven.

Her first real encounter with him had been in class.

He had stared at her too long, his gaze unreadable.

At first, she had thought he was just another fool, bewitched by her looks.

But then, sothing didn't add up.

He didn't approach her.

He didn't try to talk to her.

He didn't try to impress her, like all the other arrogant noble boys in this academy tried to do.

He just… kept his distance.

That crazy girl– Amyra – was also keeping an eye on him..

Just as she thought about Amyra, she felt annoyed.

Alden entered the arena as he looked at her and thought she was annoyed at him.

The mont Varian said,Begin, she lunged.

A blur of movent.

No hesitation.

A punch—fast, precise, aid for his ribs.

But he dodged.

Her eyes sharpened..

She attacked again.

Faster.

Stronger.

A roundhouse kick—a feint.

He fell for it.

She smirked, twisting her body mid-air, her knee hitting squarely into his chest.

Alden staggered back, gasping for breath.

But he didn't fall.

Their exchange went on for a while.

Then—he counterattacked.

For the first ti, she was caught off guard.

She stepped in for another strike—

And then—

THUD

Sothing crashed into her.

A heavy weight.

A body.

Alden.

Nyx's mind blanked.

Flustered.

His face was too close.

His breath felt warm against her skin.

His body—pressing down on hers.

For the first ti in her life, her mind refused to function properly.

Her heart… started pounding.

What… What is this?

She hated physical contact.

Despised it.

Yet… this was different.

Not because it was him, but because she had never been this close to anyone before.

Especially a boy

"That's enough."

Varian's voice snapped her out of her trance.

Alden hurriedly pushed himself off her, his face was calm as if he didn't even feel anything.

Nyx turned away instantly; her pulse quickened in a way she didn't understand.

The students laughed, so whistling..

She clenched her fists. Her face was heating up again.

She still tried her best to act calm.

She hated this feeling.

She wasn't supposed to feel anything.

She wasn't supposed to react like this.

But no matter how much she told herself that, her mind kept replaying the mont.

Again.

And again.

And again.

This… was bad.
