While Alden was busy with so ssy family reunion and getting so character developnt, the wind in the academy was shifting.
For Alden it has only been a day or two. But a week had passed in the outside world.
The academy had started again.
And unfortunately Alden was missing the first day after the start.
In the first-year classroom of the academy, a beautiful girl with white hair and violet eyes sat.
Her eyes were lifeless.
She hadn’t seen her ’dear’ even once in the last week.
"Where is he?" Amyra muttered.
The classroom was still empty as nearly fifteen minutes were remaining for class.
She had been trying to reach Alden for a week. He hadn’t responded to a single ssage from her.
"He must probably be busy sowhere."
Another beautiful girl sat beside her. Her deep blue eyes radiated innocent charm.
Looking at her lifeless friend, she couldn’t help but respond. "I saw him leaving the academy... He said he had sothing important to do."
"Why did he tell you?" Amyra frowned.
"Oh... we were just having a al, and he—" Nyx stopped mid-sentence.
Cold sweat ford on the back of her neck as she felt a murderous aura beside her.
"What–? Did you just say al? " Amyra muttered.
A small smile was present on her face.
It was anything but an amicable one.
"Oh, did I just mistakenly say al? I ant—" She looked around trying to find sothing good to say.
Before she could find any reason, Aziel appeared. "What are you ladies up to on this fine day?"
Thank God.
Nyx thanked the heavens for Aziel intervening.
Still, Amyra didn’t let her off the hook. "You were saying sothing?"
"Um–" Nyx tried to respond.
But Aziel, clueless as always, buzzed in again. "You know, guys, our horoom professor has changed."
That earned him a death glare from Amyra, but it gave Nyx a chance to divert the topic.
"Really?" Nyx asked. "Who is the new professor?"
Amyra glared at her but didn’t say anything else.
She still rembered how Nyx had said she loved Alden and how she would compete with her.
But ultimately it didn’t matter to her.
She knew her love was true.
And true love always wins.
Right?
It doesn’t matter if she got a small head start with one small al.
I will ask him for a proper dinner.
And this ti I won’t let her interfere.
But nothing would have happened, right?
She shook her head.
No.
I need to trust him.
I’m not obsessed.
I’m just... worried.
__
Nyx heaved a sigh of relief.
I’m saved.
She already knew about the new professor.
She had already talked about it with Jeremy.
Apparently, the academy needed a scapegoat for pinning the bla for the attack.
Sorin, as the head of the exploration, took the bla.
He was fired.
The new professor was soone recomnded specifically by one of the five main families.
The most mysterious of them all.
Velrath family.
Even Jeremy didn’t know much about them.
They were shrouded in veils.
Except for the family head, they didn’t reveal anything about any other family mbers.
Surprisingly there wasn’t a single image of them online either.
Nyx even read many conspiracy theories about them.
One popular thread even claid the Velraths weren’t entirely human... but no one could prove it.
The new professor was supposed to be soone stronger than Sorin.
Her na was.
Cypheria.
Weird na.
That’s all Nyx could say.

Sowhere else within the academy, Seles was walking across the street towards her class.
Today was a good day for her.
No—a perfect day.
After days of irritation, things were finally going her way.
A satisfied smile curled on her lips.
It had been nearly a week since she sent her people after Alden.
Two loyal subordinates from the secret organisation she ran within the black market.
Both of them were at the Advanced Apprentice rank. They were more than enough to deal with a lowly bug like him.
As far as she knew, Alden was still stuck at the Initiate rank.
Frankly, it was overkill.
She could’ve had him erased earlier... but family ties had kept her hands tied.
Not anymore.
With her father conveniently dispatched on a long expedition under the orders of the Imperial Family, no one could stand in her way—not even her mother.
In fact, Alden’s expulsion had been her doing too.
All it had taken was a quiet suggestion, a whisper to her mother that Alden was growing too strong and unpredictable.
Her mother, the ever image-conscious noble, had acted swiftly.
Just like Seles wanted.
Everything had fallen into place.
The only problem was Alden’s sudden disappearance.
Her n had tracked him into a forest a few days ago, but he vanished without a trace.
Seles had considered the possibility that he had sohow stumbled into a dungeon. It was the only explanation that made sense.
But she wasn’t worried.
She simply ordered her subordinates to wait.
Sooner or later, he would co crawling out, bruised and battered.
And when he did... they would finish the job.
Now, finally—they found him.
The ssage ca just this morning.
Alden had reappeared.
Her n were moving in to intercept.
She felt a surge of triumph.
"Finally," she whispered, her voice as sweet as poison.
Let’s see how much fight you’ve got left in you, dear brother.
She wasn’t planning on giving him a quick death.
Oh no.
He was going to suffer.
She decided to make sure of it.
She soon arrived in front of her classroom.
That annoying bastard Lucien wasn’t with her.
He had been avoiding her like a plague ever since they arrived from Lustra.
His reason was sothing like, I won’t see you until I’m worthy.
She didn’t push him either.
It was about ti to push him slightly away anyway.
The more he stays away... the more he will crave her attention.
So, she was doing nothing but ignoring him too.
She scanned the half-filled classroom.
There were only five minutes for the class to begin, so nearly all of the students had arrived already.
Still, the class was only half-filled.
The reason?
Many had died during the attack at ancient ruins.
She didn’t care. But outwardly she had to show she did.
So, as always she coughed slightly, attracting the attention of everyone.
As everyone looked at her, she spilled so tears and walked inside.
She was an expert at crying.
It was the first thing she learned in this world—how to turn weakness into power and tears into tools.
A weak, beautiful and cute woman crying. Anyone would want to make her feel comfortable.
Right?
Her gaze casually stopped on Lucien seated on the far edge of the classroom.
His head was down. But she could see his fist clenched tightly.
Then her gaze stopped on the group which literally didn’t care for her existence.
Amyra and Nyx.
That joker Aziel was also with him.
Cecilia and Aurelia had also joined their group permanently now.
Seles rembered her duel with Amyra in virtual reality.
Her jaws clenched.
After Alden, it’s your turn, bitch.
I’ll especially savour the feeling of cutting you apart limb by limb.
With that thought, Seles took her seat at the first desk.
