Now reading: Chapter 316: Third day of tournament from Chronicles of Forgotten Extra, a Action novel by CrimsonFable.

Two days had passed since Amyra’s confession and the dinner with Nyx and saying that not a lot had happened would be an understatent.

Alden’s life had nearly flipped upside down.

Everywhere he went, people gave him suspicious looks as the images from that night, paired with the testimonies of so useless fuckers, had made headlines portraying him as a playboy dating both Amyra and Nyx at the sa ti.

Just my luck.

Alden sighed as he scanned through countless articles about himself. He was currently in the waiting room as his match would be starting soon.

His last match had been against soone from the elven academy and it had been completely anticlimactic as his opponent, a spirit archer, had given up as soon as the match started.

Alden could guess what had happened.

Unlike humans, spirits were far more sensitive to power, mana and bloodlust. His opponent’s spirit companion had likely sensed the danger from Alden even before he could act, warning its partner to give up.

Not that Alden minded an easy win, still, it had been too boring so, he hoped today’s match would be a bit different, especially since his opponent was a woman nad Rexica.

It was the sa woman he had t during orientation, when he had been introduced to students from other academies, the one who had sohow appeared out of nowhere and scratched his index finger back then.

Just then, the announcer called out his na. Alden got up from his seat in the waiting room and walked out.

But just as he stepped into the arena, a wave of booing echoed around him. Alden looked toward the audience stands and saw students, especially the male ones, booing him at the top of their lungs.

These jealous fuckers.

Alden cursed inwardly and it wasn’t like he couldn’t understand them. Although he had never had trouble with won in either of his lives, he had seen these kinds of reactions before.

Back in his first life, when Elena had proposed to him at school right as the principal was making an announcent, no less, the reaction had been the sa.

Male students had given him jealous glares and even tried to bully him afterwards but the fact that he had been athletic back then hadn’t helped them much and in this life, it was no different. These fuckers were jealous because not one but two of the most beautiful girls in the entire empire were rumored to be dating him.

He could understand them... he really could, except for the fact that he wasn’t dating either one of them.

With another sigh, sothing that had beco his signature in recent tis, he walked toward the stage. His opponent still hadn’t arrived, so he waited.

Then, suddenly, a cheer louder than the boos echoed through the arena.

"ALDEN—"

"ALDEN—"

"ALDEN—"

Alden turned toward the sound, only to flinch as he spotted his friends. Amyra, in particular, was cheering loudly from the sidelines as if she were competing with the haters in a screaming contest.

Nyx stood beside her as well, awkwardly mouthing his na without making a sound, probably forced by Amyra in the na of fair competition which she had been awfully lot since her confession, while Aziel’s voice was no less loud than Amyra’s.

Cecilia in the anwhile was seated behind them, shaking her head slightly as if embarrassed.

These guys... seriously...

Do they really think I need cheering... just because of booing from so jealous haters...

He sighed but he didn’t hate it as a smile appeared on his face.

Normally, he would have thought that Amyra and Nyx cheering like that would only create more misunderstandings and in turn, more problems for him but honestly, by now, he was already buried deep in a pit of misunderstandings and whatever they did at this point wouldn’t really add much and even if it did, Alden had stopped caring about what people thought long ago.

Just because it might create future problems didn’t an he was going to ask his friends to stop cheering for him.

Instead, his smile widened even more as he looked in their direction and waved.

Right on cue, his opponent finally arrived.

Rexica Felidane.

Alden had once found her presence strangely familiar back when he t her and only after eting Cipher that day had he understood why.

He didn’t know how exactly but this girl was sohow related to Cipher, perhaps from Cipher’s family before she had been sold as a slave...

He wasn’t sure but for now, the girl standing before him was his opponent.

As for informing Cipher about her possible relative, Alden was certain there was no need. Cipher was the head of one of the information organizations and she might have long since found every information about her family.

But as his thoughts drifted in that direction, a particular white haired girl surfaced in his mind.

Vanyaa.

Co to think of it, it’s been a long while since I last saw her... I wonder where she vanished this ti.

Hope she’s fine...

After all, she was bound to him by an ancient pact and even if he didn’t want to acknowledge it, he thought of her as a clumsy little sister.

So he couldn’t help but worry.

Just then, his opponent’s voice echoed.

"Alden Draven..." She mused. "...or should I just call you Alden, since you were disowned by your family?"

Alden smirked. "Whatever na helps you accept defeat more easily is fine."

"Quite confident, are we?" She shot back.

"Well, I don’t know about confidence," he replied casually while pointing towards his friends, "but since my friends are cheering for so loudly, I have to win... right?"

Before she could reply, the announcer’s voice echoed. "Both participants have arrived. The battle will begin imdiately."

His voice rang out again. "Please stand in front of each other."

Both Alden and Rexica nodded before walking to the center of the arena and as soon as they took their positions, the referee raised his hand and spoke one final ti.

"You may begin."

"We will see how much of that confidence is actually valid," Rexica said, before lunging at Alden as the battle finally began.
