anwhile, unbeknownst to the fate stirring around him, Alden sneezed.
"What the fuck?"
"Who is rembering now?"
He shrugged it off and looked at his friends around him.
Aziel was being as goofy as always, Cecelia kept him in check, Amyra was smiling at him like always, while Nyx was standing so distance away, her head lowered slightly.
Kyun, anwhile, was circling in the sky, her size larger than before now. Everything felt calm, but Alden wasn’t sure how long that calm would last, because he knew Jeremy would be trying sothing very soon and he had to be prepared for it.
His gaze shifted to the clear blue sky.
’I wonder where Vanya and Cipher have gone...?’
He thought about Cipher, after all, she was the one who had warned him about the upcoming storm from Jeremy.
After delivering the news, she had vanished completely, and he couldn’t even contact her through ManaSync.
’I hope she hasn’t gotten into any trouble.’
As for Vanya, he could feel the bond between them faintly. She was sowhere on the island, but he couldn’t pinpoint her exact location either.
’I guess I should search for her after tomorrow’s match.’
The matchup for tomorrow had already been announced and as if fate was playing so kind of joke on him, his opponent was none other than his half-sibling, Cedric Draven.
’He has grown stronger, huh?’
He had noticed Cedric’s match earlier, when he fought with the elven princess.
’I wonder what kind of power that was...?’
He thought about it, but didn’t bother caring more than that. To him, Cedric was nothing more than an extra, soone who had made his life a living hell during childhood, and soone he had absolutely no intention of caring about now.
So, he shrugged and looked back at his friends.
Tomorrow would be the quarter-finals and after that, Jeremy would finally make his move during the finals.
Alden had already made sure to find a reason to send his friends away that day, asking for a favour because he didn’t want them to get caught in this ss.
Hell, he himself didn’t wish to stay, but he was sure Jeremy wouldn’t kill him. He would try to take over his body and get devoured by his skills.
He was even wishing for that.
Hoping it would boost his powers... if he could sohow swallow that bastard whole.
’I guess... ti will tell.’
"What are you thinking about so intently, bro?" Azriel’s goofy voice echoed, as casual as ever.
Alden looked at him for a few seconds before a mischievous idea ca to mind. "Nothing, actually. I was just trying to rember the nas of the won you were asking to go on a double date with."
His voice was neutral as if he wasn’t just bullshitting about so imaginary conversation.
But Aziel imdiately felt the full brunt of the verbal war as three hostile auras locked onto him with thick killing intent.
Cecelia, Amyra, and Nyx were giving him death glares.
"A double date...?"
All three of them muttered at the sa ti for completely different reasons, yet with the sa hostility.
anwhile, Alden heard a long sigh in his mind. It ca from the white bird flying in the sky.
[You are a monster.]
Kyun muttered in his mind.
[Sotis you’ve got to be a monster for the well-being of your friends.]
Alden replied casually.
[I am doing it for his character developnt, Kyun.]
With those words, he turned and walked slowly away towards the exit.
"See ya, guys. I have sothing to do, so I’ll et you all later. Have a good day."
He said, but all of the other four were completely engrossed in their own situation.
Cecelia, Nyx, and Amyra surrounded Aziel, while Aziel himself was sweating buckets trying to explain himself.
Still, Aziel’s gaze fell on Alden leaving through the barricade of three girls as he cursed out loudly.
"Screw you, you bastard."
"Ahh, the day is nice." Alden ignored his curse and walked away, enjoying the gentle breeze and warm sunlight.
Kyun looked at pitiful Aziel before following behind Alden after shaking her head.
—
It didn’t take long for Alden to exit the arena and arrive at the marketplace. Actually, he didn’t really have anything to do, he just wanted so peace and calm. That was the only reason he threw Aziel, his good friend who was always ready to sacrifice himself, under the bus.
But fate, being as cruel as always toward him, decided to ruin his plan once again.
"If it isn’t my dear brother, Alden."
A feminine and very punchable voice echoed from behind him.
"If it isn’t my stalker sister, who sohow always appears when I’m trying to find peace."
He replied, turning back slowly.
"How is it that you always appear whenever I think the day will be good, just to ruin it?"
"Maybe fate wants us to bond like every sibling should. But unfortunately for you, this ti, I found you for a reason." Her voice dropped to a whisper. "You see, we need to have a chat."
An amused smile appeared on Alden’s face.
"What kind of chat would the heir of Draven like to have with a poor illegitimate child like ...?"
He said mockingly.
But she didn’t give up.
"Maybe a chat that will be beneficial for both of us."
Alden raised his eyebrows.
’What is she planning this ti...?’
Still, he didn’t back down either.
"Alright, let’s see what you have to say."
—
anwhile in a dark void where the soft sound of chains echoed, an extrely beautiful woman with sickly pale complexion and green hairs opened her golden eyes.
Her lips were dried and her body a husk of what it used to be. She stared at the sky as if seeing sothing which wasn’t there.
"The pieces are set..."
She said, her eyes staring at three bright golden threads.
"And this ti, even he cannot interfere with what fate has allowed."
