Sowhere else within the forest, a boy with white hair and violet eyes was staring at a blue-skinned, monstrous toad the size of a car. It had a slimy skin that shone under sunlight slightly.
The boy had a calm and collected expression…He was Lucien Celestrian, the third prince of the Vallorian Empire. There was no fear in his eyes.
He recalled the ti he had died of a heart attack just by seeing a goblin.
'But that is a thing of the past now.' Lucien smirked confidently.
He was not the sa person he was in his previous life, he had grown stronger.
In the past month, he had forced himself to go into low-level dungeons to steel his heart before entering the academy, and he was successful in it.
At first it was difficult and almost humiliating for him as he had even run out of the first dungeon he had entered, but he got used to it soon; after all, there were always escorts around him to protect him.
But now? He felt nothing... no fear... no hesitation.
Even he was shocked by how easy it was for him to adapt. After the initial few days of confusion, his gar personality started to show itself. The only emotion he felt now was the excitent to grow stronger.
'Maybe I was born for this world after all.' He thought as he lunged forward towards the toad, which was a Beginner Initiate Level monster, a minor level stronger than him.
The toad also reacted as its throat bulged, vomiting a thick, acidic saliva at Lucien.
Before the saliva could do any damage to him, blue lightning crackled around his body as he vanished from his spot.
In a flash, he appeared near the neck of the beast with his spear in hand.
This was not a teleportation…. It was purely a high-speed movent from his [Thunder Steps] technique that Lucien had unlocked through his primordial rank to.
Lucien slashed at the neck of the toad without any hesitation, but the toad, being a beginner-initiate-level monster, quickly wrapped its tongue around its own neck with unnatural speed…
'What the hell?'
Lucien's attack grazed its tongue but didn't do much damage. The attack should have clearly pierced through the tongue of the beast, but instead a tallic sound resounded from the impact.
'It seed as if the tongue was made up of so tal…' Lucien thought as he quickly stepped back, seeing his attack fail.
And true to Lucien's assumption, this beast was called 'Steel-Tongue Toad.' They were creatures that spent most of their ti underground absorbing various nutrients from the ground to reinforce their tongue.
The toad's steel tongue glinted in the faint light, a result of years it spent absorbing minerals from the earth.
The toad didn't waste any ti as it attacked Lucien, not giving him any ti to think. Lucien quickly activated [Thunder steps]; lightning danced around him as he vanished again, this ti appearing so distance away…
The toad's tongue struck the ground with such force that the earth cracked where Lucien previously was.
'I thought it would be easy.' Lucien had defeated so Advanced Novice Rank beasts previously with ease, so he thought, 'How difficult can it be to defeat a beast minor rank higher than ?'
He tried his luck attacking this monster who he had co across coincidentally.
But he misjudged one thing—difference in intelligence…Unlike Novice rank monsters, Initiate rank monsters had more intelligence.
The toad's throat bulged up again, preparing another one of its acidic attacks, but Lucien had already analyzed its attack pattern… He wasn't a gar for no reason. Analysing the attack pattern ca as easy as breathing to him.
'There's a delay between its attacks.' Lucien's smirk widened with confidence. 'It can't use its tongue while using this attack.'
This is my chance.
The mont the toad opened its mouth, Lucien quickly took advantage of the gap as he activated the [Thunder Steps] again.
The world around him blurred as he appeared straight above the head of the toad, and this ti even his spear crackled with lightning.
He quickly changed his grip on the spear. He held it in a downward position, ready to stab through the skull of the beast with the use of gravity…
"SPEAR OF JUDGENT" Lucien scread, trying to sound cool. This wasn't even a technique; he was just imbuing his spear with lightning, which anyone with lightning manipulation could do.
But there was nobody to tell him how cringe it sounded instead of being cool..
His spear pierced through the skull of the beast with a crackling explosion of lightning.
The toad's body collapsed to the ground lifelessly as silence soon returned to his surroundings. Lucien heaved a sigh of relief, slumping on the ground. He had a satisfied smile on his face. 'I did it.'
His bracelet vibrated before a notification popped up in front of him…

'Only two more ranks to pass,'
Unlike Alden, who didn't show much of his strength, Lucien liked to show off as he wanted to wash away the tag of 'Unworthy Prince' on him.
He wanted to beco rank one this year, but there was one more reason for it.
Lucien summoned his status window as he looked at the quest issued by his system.

DESCRIPTION: Beco the rank one student of Astralis Academy this year.
REWARD - Break through to Beginner Initiate Rank.
PENALTY: Stats halved for one day]
This quest was the reason Lucien was trying so hard to be the number one student. He didn't have much to hide anyway except his Mana To and his special system.
His Mana To was also a Primordial Rank like Alden's. And like every mana to of that rank, it provided the user with the ability to manipulate two elents…
In the case of Lucien's [Thunder God's Wrath], it provided him with the ability to manipulate lightning as well as the Sound elent. He was also presented with the choice to form any core first and other cores afterwards, and he had chosen lightning as his beginner elent. As his family had given him a lightning elent to, he could better hide his abilities.
As for how he explained Thunder Steps, he had simply told them that it was his special ability…
He recalled the faces of his family mbers when he revealed he had awakened a special ability as a smirk appeared in his face.
After checking out his rank, Lucien leaned against a tree, his breathing steady, but his mind raced. 'I'm close... but who's ahead of ?'
His eyes narrowed as he quickly opened the leaderboard.
The top two ranks flashing before him.

Lucien imdiately recognized one of the nas... it was the na of his twin sister, Amyra.
Although she was his twin sister she didn't really care much about him..she was a cold person..at least according to mories he had inherited.. because he hadn't truly t her a single ti since he had transmigrated..
Nor did he have any interest in eting her…'She was scary.' Only these thoughts ca to his mind whenever he thought about her.
'But who the hell is Rank One?' Lucien thought about it before quickly dismissing it. 'Well, I'll just have to surpass their scores anyway.'

anwhile, in another part of the forest, Alden stared at the Kangaroo that had just appeared in front of him. It was muscular, its thick hind legs packed with power; he could feel its strength.
'It's in the Beginner Initiate Rank, huh?' He thought with a faint smirk on his lip as he looked at it, quietly analyzing it.
He used his predatory gaze to see if it had any effects, but nothing happened as he had expected. After all, the kangaroo was a minor level higher than him, and his skill description had clearly ntioned the stronger the opponent than the user, the less effect it had…
'Ti to test my raw strength, I guess.' Alden's smirk widened as he lunged forward as the battle began…
