Alden and Zephyr stood opposite each other, staring. The air was heavy with tension as both were analysing.
Alden steadied himself, fingers tightening around his sword.
Zephyr stood a few ters away, golden eyes shining with amusent. He hadn't even broken a sweat by the previous exchange. It was just a casual punch of his.
'He was just testing with that attack.' Alden imdiately understood that the previous attack wasn't even a serious one.
But Alden had no plans to let him control the flow of the fight.
Alden lunged forward, and his increased senses were in full focus mode, analysing even the slightest twitch of Zephyr's muscles.
He couldn't afford to relax, as even a minute mistake could cause his disqualification.
"Predictable." Zephyr's smirk widened seeing Alden attacking him in such a predictable manner.
Unlike Alden, who only had a little to no combat experience, Zephyr was well-versed in combat ever since he was a child.
Zephyr waited for Alden's attack to co without even moving, amused as to what this Draven was going to show him.
'I had already disqualified many from the Draven family in this test, but they were all from branch families ... but this one had the trademark crimson eyes of the main family.'
Alden attacked Zephyr, activating his flowing strike, intending to build montum before unleashing Eternal Surge, as he knew only that way could be thought to damage Zephyr.
Zephyr just casually swung his fist. As his fist and Alden's sword made contact, a loud
"BOOM!" echoed as Alden was pushed back a little.
But Alden kept attacking as the montum was building more and more as it reached the point where he wasn't pushed back anymore.
"Is this all?" Zephyr spoke in a disinterested voice. "I thought you would show sothing interesting, but I guess this is all you amount to."
"I guess it's ti to finish it." Zephyr spoke as Alden's instinct scread at him.
He felt imnse danger from Zephyr at this mont. He knew the next attack was going to be dangerous. So before Zephyr could attack him, Alden used shadow manipulation to bind Zephyr's hand with the shadows.
Surprise flashed across Zephyr's face as he didn't think Alden could control the shadow to this extent…but the surprise was only montary as he quickly shook his hand as the shadows binding him dispersed.
But the mont was all Alden needed, as he had coated his sword with his shadows as he attacked Zephyr with full strength.
Zephyr looked at the incoming sword for his neck calmly as he extended his hand, catching the sword in his hand.
Another shockwave spread as he caught the sword…
"Not bad," Zephyr said as he prepared his other fist to attack Alden…
But Alden had a smirk on his face as he shouted.
"Eternal Surge"
As soon as he said those words, a shockwave greater than anything was released from his sword caught in the hands of Zephyr. He had released all the montum he had stored since the fight began.
Before Zephyr could react, the shockwave struck him squarely as he was thrown backward with force, slamming into a tree. stirring up a cloud of dust…
Alden still wasn't relaxed as he knew it was far from over. And sure enough he saw the figure of Zephyr walking out of the dust, his body still unhard except for a large wound on his left hand, which previously held Alden's sword…
"That was an interesting attack," he said, his voice now more excited than feeling any anger towards Alden, who had injured him.
Alden didn't let his focus waver, still fully focused on Zephyr.
Suddenly Zephyr vanished, appearing in front of Alden, his speed greater than before ... it wasn't any skill or technique but pure speed.
Alden saw the punch blurring in on him…He knew he couldn't dodge it… So he used his shadow manipulation to form a shield as his shadow responded without a second of delay, forming a protective barrier around him.
Zephyr's fist struck the barrier.... The barrier cracked before dispensing his fist's power a bit more than before, but it still wasn't anything to scoff at.
Just as his fist was going to connect, Alden barely reacted as he ford a spring-like layer of shadows on his chest as soon as Zephyr's fist struck it. The montum behind the punch was absorbed before sending Alden skidding back, although unhard.
Alden flipped his body midair as he stabbed his sword in the ground to stop himself from slamming into a tree.
In the ti after his awakening, Alden wasn't sitting still; he had increased his mastery over his spells by a large margin, and now he could create any shadow structure in an instant but they still consud a lot of mana.
Alden quickly focused above his head as he already felt a movent there through his Spirit Domain…There he saw Zephyr with his raised leg ready to kick him.
He rolled on the ground as Zephyr's foot slamd into the ground…as the ground cracked.
'F*ck, that was dangerous.' Alden would have lost the mont the fight began if he didn't have his spirit domain activated.
Even Zephyr was puzzled as to how Alden was even reacting to his movent, as even those at his level couldn't…
Zephyr's smirk widened as for the first ti in this test he was enjoying himself… he was a true battle maniac after all.
But there was no one in those he t in this test that could even survive one strike from him. They couldn't even react before they were disqualified. He was trying to find any of the top three ranks, but he didn't find them; instead, he stumbled upon Alden.
'I guess I should get serious too.' Zephyr thought his eyes started to glow.
He had activated his special ability—Dragonic Descent…
The very air around Zephyr started to tremble as his presence was elevated to a whole other level.
Alden imdiately understood there was no other way out. He wanted to keep most of his abilities secret, but he couldn't do that anymore… There were already a lot of caras on them observing their fight closely.
Just as Alden was about to activate his limit break, his body started to be covered in light…. He looked around as he saw Zephyr's face twisted in fury at not being able to complete his battle. As his body was also enveloped in the sa light.
'Thank God !' Alden heaved a sigh of relief as he imdiately understood that the test had finally co to an end.
