Alden woke up inside the cave after nearly half a day of rest.

His crimson eyes snapped open as he looked around him in surprise.

"Huh?Ahh, right… I am in the cave."

He didn't even rember when he fell asleep after lying on the cave floor.

He was too tired. But now he felt refreshed. His body at his peak.

He got up as he stretched his body a bit. He felt a bit different. A bit stronger.

He recalled the notification that had popped up after defeating Ren.

Just recalling Ren gave him shivers, he was too strong.

If not for my supre ability, I would have died without even being able to react.

I need to get stronger without even using my skills.

He summoned the notifications he had simply dismissed earlier.

[YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY BROKEN THROUGH A SMALL LIMIT.]

[REWARDS ARE ISSUED]

[YOUR STATS WILL BE INCREASED SLIGHTLY]

He studied the notifications carefully.

What the heck are they, really?

He rembered all his ability skills, but there was no ntion of being able to increase stats just by defeating the stronger enemies.

Breaking through limits?

Sothing popped up in his mind.

[1. Limitless growth—The user is not bound by any limits and can break through them to grow stronger endlessly. The more users fight stronger opponents, the more he grows. ]

First sub-skill of his supre ability.

It ntioned sothing about fighting and growing stronger.

Is the status increased because of that skill?

'So this is how it works?'

Fighting stronger opponents made him stronger. A dangerous, brutal way to grow—but also the most efficient.

Well, it's a good thing, and that's all that matters.

He opened his stat windows only to check how much his stats had increased.

[STATS]

MANA—4000/4000

He scanned the stats window, seeing most of his stats were the sa as before.

Except for his agility.

It had increased by a whole minor level.

He could also feel the remaining stat of Vitality close to reaching the next level as well.

His other stats had also seen a minor increase, but not by much margin.

The changes weren't massive, but they were there. It was progress.

Alden clenched his fist, feeling the subtle difference. He was close to reaching Interdiate Initiate Rank.

'A little more… and I'll get there.'

He pushed his body up from the ground and dusted off his clothes.

He looked at his bloodstained body and clothes as he decided to freshen up a bit before.

He recalled the river he had spotted on the first day.

Alden quickly exited the cave as he started walking towards the river. He didn't rush as he walked slowly, taking his sweet ti.

But suddenly he spotted a movent from ahead.

There was sothing there.

He stopped.

A monster.

It was a creature similar to a cockroach.

Not a small one but a massive, human-sized abomination. Its exoskeleton shone in the dim light.

It looked disgusting.

'Shit'

Alden cursed as the cockroach turned its head towards him.

It let out a huge screech.

As suddenly, two more cockroaches erged from the underbrush.

'Fcking hell… It's even calling its friends now.'

The lead cockroach screeched again. The others responded as they dashed in his direction.

But Alden didn't panic.

His face had a smirk.

He already had sothing he wanted to try. He stood there calmly as he extended his hands and calmly swiped it down.

He had unleashed the spell he had absorbed.

The space around him trembled as it was torn.

The air itself shattered.

Invisible blades materialised, warping space as they shot forward at once towards the cockroaches.

The cockroaches felt sothing, but before they could even react, the space blades rained on them.

The roaches screeched violently.

Then—silence.

Dust settled.

Absolute destruction.

The ground beneath was cracked and torn apart.

The cockroaches? Gone without leaving even a single trace.

Alden exhaled, lowering his hand.

A cold sweat appeared on his body.

'I hadn't used Abyssal Soul to absorb that attack against Ren… I would've been the one erased like that.'

The attack had wiped out three Initiate Rank monsters, just like that. And moreover, it was only 90% of the original attack's power.

Although the mana consumption was high, the effect it showed was also that great.

There was only one reason he unleashed the spell now.

He wanted to check how exactly it worked and if their were any downsides to unleashing it.

He felt a bit bad about losing such powerful spell but it was going to be dissipated within 48 hours anyway.

And frankly? There was no way in hell he was touching those disgusting things.

So, he unleashed the spell. But he himself hadn't expected such destruction.

He smirked.

'Well, at least it wasn't a complete waste.'

He glanced at the now-empty battlefield.

'At least those disgusting creatures had been purged.'

His smirk widened as he turned back, continuing his walk towards the river, completely unfazed.

He soon arrived in front of the river.

Ti to wash up.

Alden washed his face.

The cold water of the river snapped his senses wide awake.

He stared at his reflection, a handso face with jet black hair. Droplets were sliding down his sharp features.

His face was stained with dried blood, and his crimson eyes were as attractive as ever (according to him).

But there was also sothing else in his eyes at the mont.

Determination.

He wasn't just surviving anymore. He was growing stronger with each day.

The fight with Ren had pushed him past his limits, and the battle against those damn cockroaches had shown him just how destructive his power could be.

But he wasn't done yet.

His gaze wandered towards the massive door.

The Door.

The one that held the Chaos Weapon Art.

After washing all the dried blood off his body, he changed his clothes to the pristine ones he had stored in his storage ring.

__

Alden finally made his way towards the golden door.

He soon arrived in front of the door.

His footsteps echoed as he stepped towards the massive and ancient-looking door.

The door was golden in colour, and it had many shimring runes shifting on it in a language unfamiliar to Alden.

Although the runes were unreadable, Alden recognised them instantly. He had seen the sa runes on the door which held the Sword of Chaos.

Alden reached out to the surface of the door.

As soon as his fingers touched the door's surface.

The runes on the door stopped moving for an instant.

Then—

[THE SEAL TO THE DOOR HAS BEEN BROKEN.]

A shimring blue vortex ford on the door. He got sucked into the portal without even being able to resist.

When the world finally stopped spinning, Alden found himself standing in an empty chamber.

Nothing was present there.

Only a single altar was present there, on it lay a shimring golden book floating peacefully.

The book was radiating with unknown energy.

He walked step by step towards the book. He had already activated his [Spirit Domain] and [Eyes of Supre].

He didn't sense or see anything, but he still walked cautiously.

He knew better than to trust spaces like this. His previous experiences had taught him that very thoroughly.

He arrived in front of the altar.

But still nothing.

Just as Alden was about to touch the book, sothing in the air shifted.

A figure materialised out of the book.

He was wearing a tattered black robe, and his face was covered by a hood.

"Oh, a new successor." The figure spoke, amused.

Alden was already on guard, as he didn't trust the figure.

The figure chuckled looking at Alden's guarded figure.

"You can calm down, kid, I'm not here to fight." He spoke in a calm voice. "Hell, I couldn't even touch you."

"I'm just a small ego left behind to guide the new successor."

"By the way, let introduce myself." He spoke.

Then, with a slight bow, he said,

"I am the Seventh Successor of the Chaos Weapon Art, Garrik."

His voice carried pride.

"I'm sure you must've heard of my na. After all, I was famous, and people referred to as the rcenary King when I was alive."

Alden looked at him blankly in the eyes. "Nope, never heard of you."

Garrik flustered, "Are you sure? Have you truly not heard of , Garrick the Fangblade? The Storm of the Battlefield?"

Alden still impassive "Still doesn't ring a bell…"

Garrick was referred to as one of the strongest and most fearso warriors of his ti. And he took quite a lot of pride in his title as rcenary King.

When Alden didn't recognise him, it hurt his pride a bit, but he quickly dismissed it.

'He must be from so low-level world, or perhaps a lot of ti must've passed.'

He tried to convince himself of a reason.

"…Tch. Whatever" He soon cleared his throat.

"Anyway. You've co to inherit the Chaos Weapon Art, right?"

Alden nodded. "What do I have to do to inherit it?"

As soon as Garrick heard the question, a mischievous and devious smirk appeared on his face.

Alden failed to notice the smirk due to Garrick's face being covered by the hood.

"What you have to do is very simple." He said.

Alden felt an ominous feeling creeping in on him. He had a similar feeling before…

The ti he had first arrived in front of Gretta's Shadow.

"You just have to—" Garrick took a long pause as if doing so big reveal.

Alden readied himself.

"Dance." Garrik grinned.

'Fck, not again…' Alden cursed.

Garrick said, "You just simply have to show the dance Ms.Gretta taught you."

'Fck, what does dancing even have to do with inheriting?'

"Senior, What does dancing have to do with inheriting the weapon art?" Alden asked in a polite voice.

"Hahha, it doesn't have anything to do with it. But you see, I just wanted to confirm if you really are the true successor."

"Ms Gretta only teaches her special dance to the person she thinks will most likely inherit the weapon art."

"All the previous successors had been taught that, and if you really are a true successor…you must prove it as well."

Alden clenched his fists.

'I've been scamd again….'
