Seles' heart pounded.
Amyra's violet eyes glead with sothing dangerous.
Cold.
Calculated.
Inevitable.
Seles' instincts scread at her.
Amyra was dangerous.
No—Amyra was a monster.
Sothing was wrong with her.
Seles had seen many strong people before.
But never—never in her whole life—had she felt such an overwhelming, suffocating presence from soone her own age.
Not even from her father, who was at Overlord Rank.
How was it even possible?
Her hands trembled as she took a step back, trying to stay composed.
"W-Wait, I—"
Before she could utter even a single word.
Amyra moved.
No sound.
No warning.
Just instantaneous speed, leaving lightning in her path.
Seles wasn't in the top rank for no reason.
She barely managed to react to her shadow rising from the ground on pure instinct.
A wave of dark energy erupted around her, forming a defensive cocoon.
Before the cocoon could even finish forming.
Amyra was upon her.
Amyra's foot slamd into her stomach.
Crack
Pain exploded through her ribs as she was sent flying backward like a ragdoll, crashing through tree after tree.
Seles barely had ti to recover before lightning arced through the air, slamming into her midair.
BZZZT
Her body convulsed violently, the electricity burning through her nerves.
Seles tried to fight back.
Shadows swirled around her in desperation, swallowing her.
She had used shadow steps, but unlike Alden, who could use it even at his low level due to his mana to, she could use it due to her special ability.
But Amyra's gaze followed her without a hint of concern.
Seles reappeared above.
Dozens of razor-sharp shadow spears materialising around her.
"Shadow Domain: Light Devouring Spears"
The spears launched forward, aiming to pierce Amyra from every direction.
It was a technique that had never failed her before. Her most powerful technique.
Amyra didn't dodge.
She didn't teleport.
She simply raised her wand.
BOOM
Lightning exploded from it, vaporising the shadows instantly.
Seles' eyes widened in horror.
That was her strongest attack—and Amyra erased it like it was nothing.
She barely had any ti to react before Amyra appeared right in front of her.
Faster than she could even comprehend.
Amyra's hand wrapped around her neck.
Seles choked.
Her feet left the ground as she was lifted into the air by Amyra.
"P-Please S—"
Amyra didn't even blink.
She didn't care about what the bug was saying.
Her only thought was to crush this unsightly bug.
A surge of electricity ran through Amyra's fingers—
Seles' body convulsed violently, her vision blurring.
Her mind, which she was so proud of, went blank due to pain.
No—no, I have to surrender.
She forced her lips to move to give up, as the Nexus AI could eject students only after verbal resignation.
"I—I give—"
BZZZZZT
Amyra released the lightning again.
Seles's eyes widened in terror.
Amyra wasn't letting her surrender.
She wasn't going to let her go easily.
Seles' mind raced as her shadows desperately moved, trying to form a defence around her.
Amyra swung her wand.
A sword of lightning materialised in an instant, crackling with pure destruction.
"N-No—"
The blade sliced cleanly through Seles's hand.
Arghhhhhhh!
She scread as she felt even more pain.
"P–please forgive ." Seles didn't care about anything at this mont.
Her face was filled with tears and snot.
Long gone was the face that remained composed…. Instead, an unsightly face had taken its place.
She just wanted to escape from this monster in front of her.
But Amyra still didn't care as a smirk appeared on her face.
She lifted her sword again, this ti going for the other arm.
"N—no, no…ple—Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh."
The sword sliced through her other arm as well.
The pain was unbearable for her, but she couldn't even fall unconscious, as every ti she was on the verge of being unconscious, Amyra snapped her awake with lightning.
[The Pain Limit is being Surpassed]
[The student body is under massive stress.]
[Initiating Ergency Protocol]
[Ending the stimulation of Student—Seles Draven]
[Match Concluded—Amyra Celestrian Wins]
Seles's body vanished and dissolved into data.
Amyra didn't even blink.
Nor did she hesitate.
This was nothing.
___
Darkness.
Then pain.
Even though it was just stimulation, the pain of having her arms severed was still there.
She moved her fingers, wanting to confirm they were still there.
They were.
But the pain from the mory of it was still there.
Her body snapped awake as she sat up imdiately.
I am back.
The virtual pod opened.
She finally escaped.
Yet, it didn't feel like she had.
Her breathing beca rough and uneven. Her heart thundering in her chest as she recalled the cold and unflinching eyes of Amyra.
The fear wasn't leaving her.
Her arms were being sliced, her body convulsing under the bolts of lightning.
They all felt too real.
She had tried begging as well.
She pleaded for forgiveness. But Amyra didn't even listen.
Seles clenched her teeth, her entire body trembling.
She had never felt so weak and powerless in her life.
No one had ever treated her like this before.
She was always in control.
Always one step ahead.
She was Seles Draven—a noble daughter of House Draven.
One of the strongest of her generation.
And yet—
She had been reduced to a sobbing and broken ss.
Her eyes filled with tears, but they were from the rage she felt.
She had been humiliated.
Amyra had toyed with her.
She wasn't afraid anymore.
All her fear has been converted to anger.
She was furious.
'I am going to kill her,' she whispered, her voice filled with raw hostility and killing intent.
'I'll kill that bitch for sure.'
'I'll make her feel the sa emotions as .'
'I'll make her wish she was never born.'
She had been too cautious before.
Even after Lucien's warning, she had thought Amyra was soone she could manipulate and bring over to her side.
She was wrong.
Amyra wasn't soone to be reasoned with.
She was insane.
Amyra was soone who needed to be destroyed.
As soon as she stepped out of the pod, she saw so academy staff and her horoom instructor waiting for her there.
"Student Seles, are you alright?" Sorin asked in a calm voice.
He had seen the entire match.
He was also the one who activated the ergency protocol.
Although he didn't want to interfere in the matches of students, Amyra went too far that he had to interfere.
And worst of all.
He couldn't even take any action against her as she hasn't broken any rules.
"I—I am fine, S–Sir." Her voice was slightly breaking, and this one wasn't an acting but a genuine one.
Her body was still feeling the pain, but it was more psychological than physical.
"You can have the week off," Sorin said with a hint of pity.
He didn't know what exactly had happened in the VR as he saw Amyra going after Seles violently.
She had said sothing.
But Sorin couldn't hear as the screen outside only showed visuals and no sound.
"O–ok, sir," Seles responded before she started walking towards the exit.
She saw many students looking at her in pity. They were students who were either done with their matches or were disqualified easily.
They had all seen her match with Amyra on the huge screen in the room.
So whispered behind her back, exchanging uneasy glances.
Others didn't dare et her gaze—as if afraid to acknowledge what they had witnessed.
A few looked outright relieved that they hadn't been in her position.
And then there were the ones who enjoyed it.
"She lost that badly?" Soone muttered under their breath.
She clenched her fist tightly as her nails dug into her hands.
She had been humiliated thoroughly.
She walked towards the exit, but before exiting, she turned around one last ti, her gaze wandering to the screen.
Lucien and Alden.
They were standing opposite each other.
But she didn't care anymore about anything…. She just wanted to get back to her room and sleep.
She wasn't going to forget. No—she would rember this feeling. And she would make Amyra pay for it.
