Lucien's body crackled with divine blue lightning.
His Thunder God Physique was pushing him beyond his limits.
He felt unstoppable.
Alden exhaled slowly, his instincts sharpening.
One minute.
That was all the ti Lucien had.
If he survived that minute, victory was his. If not…
Well, he wasn't planning on losing.
Lucien vanished.
For the first ti since the fight started, Alden activated his [Spirit Domain] and [Eyes of Supre] in full intensity.
If before he was using 50% of the ability, now he is using all 100%.
He didn't use it completely most of the ti, as his brain felt strained due to all the excessive information from both of them.
But this ti it was different.
If he didn't activate it properly, he would lose.
Both abilities complented each other and worked wonders when activated together.
Ti seed to slow as his mind processed every single detail.
The electricity in the air and the faintest shifts in Lucien's aura. He could see it all clearly.
He even activated his [Limit Break] because he knew he couldn't keep up with current Lucien in his present stats.
Then—
Lucien vanished.
It was not a teleportation.
It was pure speed.
He was faster than before.

He attacked.
Alden barely moved his head aside.
The spear grazed past his cheek.
A second strike ca instantly.
Alden twisted, narrowly avoiding it, but Lucien was relentless. His movents were near-instantaneous as he released an endless barrage of lightning-infused spear thrusts.
Alden noticed sothing.
The montary delay between each attack of Lucien. The way his muscles tensed just before each movent.
Lucien was moving too fast for his own body to fully keep up.
His power was too overwhelming, but his control over them was severely lacking.
He waited for a perfect mont, and that mont arrived soon.
Alden smirked.
Lucien flashed forward again, spear thrusting toward Alden's heart—
But this ti Alden didn't simply dodge or parry.
He activated his [Shadow Manipulation]
His shadows responded to his call.
Dark chains erupted from the ground, binding Lucien's limbs.
This ti, Lucien didn't freeze.
The sheer force of lightning released by him dispersed the shadows instantly.
Alden wasn't relying on them to hold him down anyway.
He just needed—one mont.
In that one mont, he quickly peered into Lucien's eyes as he activated his [Predatory Gaze].
A flash of fear crossed Lucien's face.
It lasted less than a second.
But it was enough.
Alden moved.
He was already in his quick-draw stance.
His mind was focused to the utmost extent.
I couldn't afford to ss it up now.
I have to do it perfectly.
He circulated his mana within his sword, making it resonate with atmospheric mana.
The world slowed down again, and added to the effect of his Spirit Domain, he felt as if the world had frozen for a mont.
In that mont he saw a clear red line passing through Lucien's neck.
There it is…
He drew his katana from the sheath as he flared his mana.
Ruinous Severance.
Just as the blade was about to sever Lucien's neck clean… he flared it again.
He got the timing correct as his blade passed through Lucien's neck without any resistance whatsoever.
Just a single, clean slash.
That's all.
Lucien's body froze.
As the ti resud again.
Lucien looked at Alden with wide eyes.
He wanted to scream.
To deny this reality.
But his body wouldn't respond.
"What d—did—"
Before Lucien could even complete his sentence, a crimson line appeared on his neck.
His head rolled on the ground as a crimson arc erupted. His consciousness faded as the world turned black…
Alden didn't care what Lucien was muttering as he calmly sheathed his katana.
Alden had only one question in his mind at the mont.
Why was Lucien so weak?
Even after using one of his ultimate techniques... Why was he weak?
Was it because his rank was low?
Alden felt puzzled.
It was not Lucien that was weak.
It was just Alden who had grown a lot stronger than he used to be.
There were three main reasons for Lucien's easy defeat.
Alden was strong.
Lucien, although having an even stronger system than he was supposed to have, didn't work hard.
And the third and most important reason, unlike the original Lucien who was smart, the gar who had taken his place was not that smart and had baca a simp trapped in Seles's trap.
But there was no one to explain these reasons to Alden, so he simply kept pondering about why Lucien was weaker than he expected.
But his pondering was cut short as the system notification popped up in front of him.
His [Limit Break] has ended but he didn't feel weak due to penalty.
This was not his real body and was just a cluster of data. His real body had not activated the [Limit Break] and hence he didn't suffer the penalty.
[Winner: Alden Draven]
[Healing all the existing injuries]

[Ending the simulation]
As soon as the notification popped, everything around Alden started to distort.
A blinding light assaulted his eyes.
As he found himself back in his VR pod.
Alden leaned against the pod, exhaling slowly.
Even though he had known it was a simulation, it felt all too real.
His muscles were relaxed, but his mind was racing.
He was analysing every detail of the battle.
If Lucien had better control over his powers, could I have lost?
He shook his head.
It doesn't matter.
I won.
That was the only result that mattered.
But this simulation showed him sothing. He needed to grow even stronger.
He lifted off his helt as he got out of the pod calmly.
Most of the students in the class had already completed their simulation.
As soon as Alden exited his pod.
He felt many stares directed his way.
Huh?
Why are they staring at ?
The states were filled with many different emotions.
So stared at him with awe.
So with envy.
So filled with respect and so with fear.
Alden felt puzzled before his eyes wandered towards the huge screen in the middle of the room.
There were many battles ongoing there.
He imdiately understood that the other students must've seen his battle against Lucien.
And true to his doubt, they had indeed seen the whole battle. Alden was feeling a bit burdened by all the attention.

Alden's body froze.
A voice ca from right beside him.
Cold sweat ford on his temple. He hadn't felt anything.
No presence, no movent. Nothing.
Since when had he been standing there?
Alden turned his head slowly.
His gaze t a familiar figure.
One he'd hoped to avoid—at least for now.
Jeremy Voidforge.
The principal of the academy.
A man whose strength stood at the peak of humanity in the Vallorian Empire.
And right now, he was watching Alden with an amused smirk.
