Chapter 1043: Chapter 1043: Snake Nest
The excavation work began quickly. Compared to before, now it’s not purely reliant on manual labor; it’s all done with machinery, making it much simpler.
Drivers of the excavators today are graduates from technical schools, highly skilled in excavation techniques, and they confird the approximate locations to dig by checking the blueprints.
They have positioned two excavators in the due south, east, north, west, and central areas, respectively, to start the excavation from the surface.
Master Yuan just instructed not to dig too deep, only shallow digging, so now the excavators are slowly performing shallow excavations, peeling away the upper layers of soil first.
As they gradually dug away the upper layers of soil, nothing was discovered, and there wasn’t much difference in the color of the dug-up soil.
At this ti, two representatives from the Su Group’s real estate company were wondering if this Master Yuan had made a mistake.
How could there be anything here?
According to the situation here at the unfinished building, if there’s anything, it would only be so remnants of the old foundation.
However, Master Yuan’s gaze grew increasingly different.
He could clearly feel the changes on the compass, with the needle constantly jumping.
This indicated that there was indeed sothing terrifying underground.
“Dig, keep digging, it must be done gradually!”
The rumbling of the excavator did not cease, but the driver on the excavator seed a bit cautious.
After digging to about four or five ters deep, still, nothing happened.
However, at this mont, a mber of the construction team suddenly shouted, “There’s sothing below.”
This spot was precisely in the south, where the excavator was digging deeper and suddenly found the soil being turned up was all black.
But it wasn’t the kind with water in it, and to the surprise of the other team mbers looking over, they saw dozens of black snakes wriggling inside.
Could it be a snake den?
It wasn’t winter yet, but generally, those snakes would hibernate soon before winter arrives.
Of course, these snakes, after eating their fill, with the food slowly digesting within them, could go through an entire winter without food, only erging to eat again in spring.
But unexpectedly, a snake den ca up in the excavation, containing unknown black snakes.
When Master Yuan and his disciple arrived to look, he didn’t expect to find a snake den first.
The others might not know, but he was well aware that snakes are inherently sinister creatures. With such animals present, sothing much more evil must lurk beneath.
“Master, what should we do about these snakes?”
Asked a construction team leader.
“How do you usually handle them?”
“We normally kill them and cook snake soup; with this weather, so snake soup is very nourishing.”
The team leader replied.
Master Yuan shook his head.
“The things here are very malevolent. You should either kill them and bury them sowhere or find a place to release them directly.”
Master Yuan said.
This mix of sothing associated with death was being considered for consumption. Master Yuan couldn’t understand what these construction team mbers were thinking.
“Then perhaps we should call the staff at the city’s zoo to co and capture these snakes for release, but I think it’s a waste of ti. Just one swipe of the excavator, and these snakes would be dead beyond dead.”
The leader said.
To them, in the engineering field, ti is the most important thing. They couldn’t afford to care for these small lives; that night, who knew how many small animals perished in the blaze, including those possible snakes in the grass.
Master Yuan remained silent while the young driver on the excavator directly scooped down, slicing the dozens of black snakes, each over a ter long, into two, and as the severed snakes writhed and crawled, they were flung aside, where other team mbers poured gasoline over them and set them alight. They watched as the still-living black snakes twisted and burned in the flas, quickly turning to charcoal, and finally to ash.
Seeing this, Master Yuan knew this was another ominous sign, but there was no way to stop it; the work had to continue.
He signaled the excavator operator to keep digging.
When they dug to about six ters, the excavator dug out so mixed soil resembling a wall, and Master Yuan instructed the operator to stop.
The construction team leaders and the foreman looked and thought it was just leftover concrete from the old villa foundation.
But Master Yuan touched it and said, “This is not ordinary concrete.”
“If it’s not ordinary concrete, then what is it?”
One of the construction team leaders asked curiously.
“This is concrete mixed with listone, glutinous rice juice, and egg liquid.”
Master Yuan explained.
The construction team leaders inspected it carefully and indeed found it quite different from other foundations.
The modern foundations are entirely built with cent, steel, and sand. In ancient tis, there wasn’t any cent, so the construction was entirely different.
Looking at the soil components dug up, it reminded them sowhat of the old city walls of Jinling.
“Master Yuan, it really is like you said, there must be sothing below, maybe treasures or relics.”
The construction team leader said.
In their previous projects, they had indeed even unearthed ancient tombs and uncovered artifacts.
Unexpectedly, under this unfinished building, there might be relics.
When they thought about it, it seed plausible; after all, Jinling was an ancient capital during six dynasties, and it’s possible that this area used to bury so important figures, which seed quite normal.
While the construction team leaders grew more excited as they thought about it, Master Yuan beca increasingly worried, feeling that this place was truly extraordinary.
He already knew that this place was forrly a mass burial mound, pit of thousand, cetery, and later a temple, then an ordinary school, also a factory, and finally, the unfinished villa complex it is now.
This area had housed both the dead and the living.
But now it was an unfinished building for many years. To say there were no issues would be impossible.
“Keep digging, dig shallowly, if we uncover relics or antiques below, we’ll strike it rich.”
The construction team leader said.
Master Yuan did not respond but watched on.
When they had dug to almost six ters deep, removing most of the residual concrete layers, finally, in the sunlight overhead, they glimpsed sothing shiny below, indicating it must be tal relics, how else would there be a shine?
In this situation, they definitely couldn’t continue shallow digging with the excavator, as it would easily damage the relics below.
It was then that Secretary Lin had arrived without anyone knowing.
He was a bit scared earlier, but upon hearing sothing was found below, he approached.
Seeing now that sothing was indeed buried down there, Secretary Lin asked, “Should we notify the relics departnt first?”
