Capítulo 1558: Chapter 1557: Not Worth Saving

Professor Zhang and the others were truly surprised. They weren’t sure why Ye Qiu, who had just arrived, imdiately suspected the bats to be the source of this infectious disease.

So, Professor Zhang knew he had to ask clearly. He always felt that the young man was more than just soone with excellent dical skills.

Ye Qiu rested in the tent for a night and woke up early the next day, finding it still raining outside. Possibly due to the rain, the temperature in the mountains had dropped significantly.

He didn’t mind it because, as a cultivator, this temperature was nothing to him.

However, it was different for ordinary people, especially the patients who clearly felt the temperature drop and needed more blankets.

After washing up, Ye Qiu prepared to take an umbrella and head to the dining hall for breakfast, planning to check on the worst-off patients afterward.

Since he didn’t have much Spiritual Energy left, he could only delay the patients’ conditions as much as possible to keep them alive until he had enough Spiritual Energy to further treat them.

Of course, if the dical researchers could quickly develop an effective western dicine for these patients, that would be the best.

While having breakfast, Ye Qiu saw Ma Wenwen coming over wrapped in a coat. She noticed Ye Qiu still looked very thinly dressed and asked, “Doctor Ye, aren’t you cold?”

Ye Qiu glanced at her but said nothing.

Ma Wenwen found it strange. She hadn’t offended him, rely asked a question, so why was he ignoring her?

Just a mont ago, she heard another shocking piece of news. The bats discovered by Ye Qiu and Doctor Zhou in the mountain cave were brought back for research, confirming they carried the disease-causing viruses.

Thus, the dical experts concluded that the outbreak of these infectious diseases was likely caused by the viruses on those bats.

But why were the bats unhard?

Clearly, the bats had immunity, but other animals and humans did not.

Moreover, the discovery of so many coffins and dried corpses in the cave led other departnts to also investigate. However, it’s likely similar to what the old woman said: this village was bustling back then but, due to an epidemic, most of the villagers died.

The villagers who died back then were likely carried into the mountain cave.

Ma Wenwen thought the news here was unique, and if she returned to East Sea City, writing a realistic novel based on these events would be great. There was plenty of material and thematic content here.

So even if Ma Wenwen were told to leave now, she might not want to leave so soon.

She had many things she wanted to ask Ye Qiu, but Ye Qiu wasn’t paying attention to her.

“I’m asking you,” Ma Wenwen said, sitting down next to him.

“I know whether I’m warm or cold,” Ye Qiu ant he didn’t need others to tell him.

“What’s wrong with you? A little concern isn’t allowed?” Ma Wenwen knew if it weren’t for Ye Qiu, she might be dead by now, so she just wanted to show a bit of concern, but it seed not appreciated.

After finishing breakfast, Ye Qiu prepared to check on the patients in the critical care unit again.

Ma Wenwen followed him to the critical care unit, where the sll was unpleasant.

Ye Qiu shook his head internally. After examining them, he found that apart from the two whose conditions he treated last night, who had improved markedly and could be transferred to other wards, there weren’t significant problems.

Currently, Ye Qiu didn’t have much Spiritual Energy left and wouldn’t continue to expend it.

Such energy consumption had stalled his breakthroughs for a long ti. Ye Qiu knew as soon as they found an effective western dicine, he would return to Jinling.

Coming out of the tent, still raining, with an umbrella, Ma Wenwen followed him like a shadow.

anwhile, Zhou Wenting and Wen Xin were still resting due to mountain climbing, their limbs sore and too exhausted. Ye Qiu knew they were tired and didn’t want to disturb them.

As Ye Qiu walked alone outside, Ma Wenwen was still following.

He found himself missing family and the young ladies in Jinling, unlike the long stay in France before where he didn’t feel this way, but now it was so evident here.

At this mont, a nurse walked up to him, saying, “Doctor Ye, our director is looking for you.”

“What for?”

“Director Luo’s condition has worsened. He hopes you’ll treat him.”

“Is it Luo Wenfeng?” Ye Qiu asked.

“Yes, him.”

“Soone like him isn’t worth saving,” Ye Qiu said coldly.

He couldn’t be bothered. The young man thought his dical skills were impressive and had been arrogant in front of Ye Qiu, but now, as he entered the attack phase after the incubation period, his condition was worsening.

Luo Wenfeng never experienced the patients’ suffering before, but now feeling it, it was almost worse than death.

He knew Ye Qiu could cure him, so he wanted to humble himself, asking for treatnt.

Unexpectedly, Ye Qiu wasn’t interested.

In Ye Qiu’s eyes, the man was less than an ant. Treating him would be less valuable than treating other villagers.

The nurse stood there awkwardly, unsure of what to do, when Ye Qiu said, “Just tell him the truth.”

After the nurse left, Ma Wenwen asked, “You’re really going to let him die?”

“What do you think?”

“I don’t think you will,” Ma Wenwen said.

Ye Qiu sneered. Those who dared to offend him never had a good outco. Although Luo Wenfeng didn’t deserve death, Ye Qiu couldn’t be bothered now. Letting him endure the tornt of illness would make him rember today and learn to respect others in the future.

Ma Wenwen couldn’t understand what Ye Qiu was thinking. Ye Qiu walked around outside the tent before returning, as he had nothing better to do.

Without enough Spiritual Energy, he couldn’t treat them even if he wanted to. And now, he couldn’t leave the quarantine zone, so he stayed back.

Based on his guesses yesterday, the source of these viral diseases should be from the bats or those dried corpses in the caves.

If the dical experts still couldn’t develop effective western dicine, then they were useless, and he could only wait for the weather to treat the infected one by one.

Seeing Ye Qiu wasn’t going anywhere and had returned to rest in the tent, Ma Wenwen didn’t know what to say.
