Maya was sleeping on clouds, and her pillow was made of feathers. She floated through the sky as different colorful birds occasionally landed on her arm.

Their chirping was music to her ears, and Maya knew she never wanted to leave the clouds. It was so soft; she couldn’t rember the last ti she had lain on sothing so soft.

"Wake up!" One of the birds said.

Her brows furrowed a little as she stared at the bird with green feathers and a yellow beak. She was certain this kind of bird didn’t speak. It wasn’t a parrot; it was smaller. Besides, if it spoke, shouldn’t the voice be softer?

"Wake up!" The bird said again, and this ti Maya was pulled upward, away from the clouds.

Her eyes flew open, and she locked eyes with Keenan standing over the bed with his palm wrapped around her wrist, holding her upward.

"Alpha," she called out in confusion. She was still too sleepy to rember what had happened the night before.

His blond hair was in disarray, and there were dark circles around his eyes. He didn’t look like he had gotten much sleep. Her eyes softened as she stared up at him.

"Tch," Keenan said, and he pulled her out of his bed. He let go of her too quickly as though he didn’t want to touch her one mont longer. "Get out!"

Maya snapped out of it as she fell to the ground. The mories of the previous night returned and her head spun as the gap was filled.

He stared down at her with disgust as she scrambled to her feet. Maya rushed to the doors and fled out of the room without looking back.

She had fallen asleep faster than she had intended. After he had left, she had been so confused and worried. However, she couldn’t dare leave.

She was just going to wait to see what was going to happen, but then she fell asleep. A little too deeply. It was past dawn by the light that stread through the windows, and in a short while, it would be ti for breakfast.

Maya was a little slow to get ready as her thoughts were occupied. Firstly, she didn’t know what Claude was planning, and it was obvious that it was in her best interest to avoid him.

Secondly, all that had happened was getting a comfortable sleep. It felt unreal. It felt like there was sothing she was missing.

She moved her shoulders; she couldn’t rember the last ti she didn’t have stiff shoulders.

Maya found it hard to believe that it was over, and as she made her way to breakfast, fear lingered at the back of her mind.

She kept looking over her shoulders and around, praying she didn’t run into Claude or Keenan. Alaina almost felt better, but Maya recalled that she had chased her the night before.

She pushed open the door to the dining room, and everyone turned to look at her. Maya’s heart dropped to her stomach as she caught sight of him.

"You’re late!" He muttered, sitting in his seat.

"I-I am sorry, Alpha. I didn’t realize that—"

"Let her eat on the ground like the dog she is!" Alaina yelled as she sat next to Theo, staring at her with contempt. Her straight blonde hair fell over her shoulder, nearly touching her folded arms.

"Who is eating on the ground?" A voice called from behind her.

Maya nearly fainted. "Alpha Claude," she yelled panickily as she put as much space between them as she bowed.

"Lady Maya," he stepped closer and stretched out his hand to receive her palm. "Did you sleep well last night?"

Maya’s stomach twisted. She knew exactly what he was implying, and in this situation, it would be rude not to accept his greeting in front of everyone. He was their guest after all.

Her eyes darted around and she stretched out her palm to give it to him. Suddenly, a hand wrapped around her wrist, pulling her away from Claude.

Maya froze, and the room went silent. How did he get to her so fast?

Claude’s eyebrows lifted in amusent as his outstretched hand remained hanging in the air. "My," he mused. "What an unfriendly welco this morning, Alpha Keenan."

Keenan ignored him and dragged Maya toward his side of the table. She flopped after him with her head bent. His grip on her wrist was as tight as ever. The red marks from last night and this morning were bound to get worse.

He abruptly stopped and Maya shivered slightly as she got a feeling of déjà vu. She was going to sit on the floor in front of Claude. Was this the punishnt from last night?

At first, she thought she was late, but she wasn’t. Keenan was just early. There was no way she would make the mistake of showing up to breakfast late after what happened last night.

He let go of her hand and took his seat, leaving her standing awkwardly as Claude approached the table with Hilbert behind him. The latter was glaring hard at Keenan as he walked behind his Alpha.

"Sit!" Alaina yelled.

Claude stopped by the table, looking from Alaina to Keenan and then finally to Maya. He took his seat, his expression revealing nothing as he waited for what would happen next.

Maya’s insides twisted. She could feel Claude’s stare. Keenan was seated next to her, but he didn’t look in her direction. She could tell he was waiting for her to obey. She wasn’t sure exactly what was going on but she knew she couldn’t refuse.

She slowly lowered herself to the floor. The floor felt cold against her legs, but Maya couldn’t feel it. All she could feel was humiliation, amplified by the loud laughter Alaina let out.

"On the ground?" Claude asked with displeasure and disbelief. "Isn’t that a little cruel, Alpha Keenan? Especially after you two shared a room last night?"

Alaina stopped laughing imdiately. "What?" Her voice echoed in the dining room.
