Now reading: Chapter 48: Nightmare, 4th Floor (4) from Climbing the Tower with Time-Stop Ability, a Adventure novel by AlexD.

What kind of freak hybrid was that thing?

There was no mistaking what those five colors ant.

The boss clearly had every ability of all the golems that had co before.

– As for our workshop’s greatest masterpiece, the “Titan”, it boasts 99% physical damage immunity, 99% magic damage immunity, complete immunity to damage below a certain threshold, a single revival, and finally, an unstoppable movent function… Once again, staff are advised to proceed with caution in their response…

Is this a ho shopping channel?

After listening to the helpful announcent, I pulled up the shop window.

[Special Gacha! (5,000P)]

Initiating Special Gacha. The prize list is as follows. (Probabilities are equal across all items.)

– Skill Effect 300% Scroll

– Ability Nullification Part

– Grand Incineration Switch

[Ability Nullification Part]

Nullifies all abilities of a single golem. Usable by making contact between the part and a golem.

This was what ca to mind the mont I saw the boss.

Ability nullification. So this was what it existed for, to use on that thing.

Points held: 21,500P

With the points I had now, I could attempt the gacha four tis.

Since the probabilities were equal, the chance of landing Ability Nullification was one in three.

I paused ti for a mont and did the math.

‘The odds of not hitting it even once in four tries…’

Sixteen out of eighty-one.

Less than 20%.

In other words, my chance of pulling the Nullification was over 80%.

High. Yeah, it was high, but…

The problem was that if I failed to pull Ability Nullification, I had absolutely no way of bringing that boss down.

99% physical and magic immunity ant 99% immunity to every kind of damage.

On top of that, it ignored damage below a certain threshold and even revived once.

It was just flat-out invincible. There was no way to kill it.

‘80%, huh…’

Given that life or death hung on this, the number didn’t feel all that high anymore.

But man, this was ridiculous.

So my last resort was pure luck, nothing but pure luck?

‘…No way it doesn’t co out at least once.’

If it didn’t, the Tower was straight-up rigging the ga.

[You have purchased ‘Special Gacha! (5,000P).’]

I unpaused ti and spun the gacha right away.

Beep-beep-beep-

A roulette wheel began spinning in front of .

The effect was pointlessly long.

The boss was still advancing, so they could’ve just shown the result imdiately, but the wheel just kept turning.

I tried freezing ti. The roulette froze along with it, naturally.

Cursing the Tower under my breath, I unpaused ti again.

Seriously, every single little detail here is deliberately nasty…

[You won ‘Skill Effect 300% Scroll’!]

“…!”

That was the result that ca out after eating up a whole ten seconds.

A rolled-up piece of paper dropped out of thin air.

I didn’t have ti to hesitate. I spun the gacha again.

It’s fine, I still have three tries left.

[You have purchased ‘Special Gacha! (5,000P).’]

Beep-beep-beep-

[You won ‘Skill Effect 300% Scroll’!]

Another scroll dropped out of thin air.

…It’s fine.

I still had two tries left. Two.

[You have purchased ‘Special Gacha! (5,000P).’]

Beep-beep-beep-

[You won ‘Grand Incineration Switch’!]

“Motherf…”

Profanity almost burst out of .

A switch with a red button dropped out of thin air.

I paused ti for a mont.

No, seriously, what the fuck… Don’t fuck with .

My head started to swim, and it was hard to calm myself down.

‘Haaaah…’

Just one chance left now.

If I didn’t get it, it was over…

A one-in-three probability held everything in its hands. My life. The fate of the world.

‘Here goes.’

I steeled myself and unpaused ti.

[You have purchased ‘Special Gacha! (5,000P).’]

Beep-beep-beep-

The roulette started spinning.

‘Please.’

Please, god, please.

One out of four, and it wouldn’t co up?

There was no way it didn’t co up.

I glared desperately at the spinning roulette.

And then…

[You won ‘Skill Effect 300% Scroll’!]

“…”

I froze ti on the spot.

My thoughts ground to a halt.

No matter how long I stared at the result screen, nothing changed.

…No.

No, seriously.

Could this actually happen?

It was 80%. A full 80%.

How could this possibly not have co up…

A reality I absolutely could not accept.

‘This is rigged.’

It was definitely rigged.

Huh? Tower, you rigged it, didn’t you, you son of a bitch.

I felt like I was going to completely lose it. A surge of injustice kept welling up inside .

Soon despair and emptiness took over my head.

…I failed.

I had failed the clear. The outco was already set in stone.

There was no way to bring that boss down without Ability Nullification.

I hadn’t cleared a asly 20% probability, and now it had co to this.

That little bit of luck hadn’t gone my way, and so I was going to die, and the world was going to end.

To think it would end this stupidly, and not even because of the penalty.

‘Motherfucker…’

In frozen ti, I just stood there blankly.

If it had been a 20% chance, I wouldn’t even feel this bitter, but this… Haaah…

After spacing out for a long ti, a thought ca to .

‘…Is there another way?’

There wasn’t.

How was I supposed to bring down that invincible boss?

Still, I couldn’t give up. I desperately kept turning it over in my head.

The things I’d just pulled ca back to mind.

[Skill Effect 300% Scroll]

Select any one skill, regardless of type, to have its effect increased to 300%. Usable by tearing the scroll. (Effects can be stacked.)

[Grand Incineration Switch]

Press the button to initiate Grand Incineration. A powerful conflagration will eliminate all golems. And you too, of course!

Three Skill Effect 300% Scrolls.

And a Grand Incineration Switch.

All of them useless.

What was the point of tripling a skill’s effect? The boss was invincible with 99% damage immunity.

…Huh? Hold on.

What if I used all three 300%s on Destruction Ray?

They said the effects stacked, so it would be twenty-seven tis the damage.

And with my 50% magic damage boost, no, if I bumped it up another 20% with the points I had left, that’d be 70%. So a total of 45.9x.

Even with the boss reducing 99% of damage… that would still deal 45.9% of the base damage!

With Destruction Ray, that amount of damage alone might be enough to take the boss down, right?

That’s where my train of thought got, and then imdiately crashed.

Shit, what was the point of taking it down…

That bastard got one revival.

By the ti Destruction Ray ca off cooldown for a second shot, the boss would’ve already been out the exit. And it was unstoppable, so I couldn’t slow it either.

Or could I? Maybe?

[You have purchased ‘Slow (50P).’]

[You have purchased ‘Stop (100P).’]

I released ti stop and tried buying Slow and Stop with the points I had left.

I hadn’t actually verified whether Slow and Stop failed against the unstoppable effect, so this was a Hail Mary, but…

Thud, thud, thud.

The boss kept right on moving without so much as a hitch. Fuck.

Kaboooom!

I launched a Fla Strike in sheer frustration.

Plli clung to the boss too, chomping on its head, but didn’t leave so much as a scratch.

I froze ti again.

[Grand Incineration Switch]

Press the button to initiate Grand Incineration. A powerful conflagration will eliminate all golems. And you too, of course!

The other item I’d pulled.

…Would this kill the boss, maybe?

It said it eliminated all golems. Maybe the judgnt applied to the boss too, regardless of its abilities.

But so what if it worked. I’d die too.

‘…’

And then, suddenly.

A flash of an utterly absurd idea shot through my head.

[Skill: Rapid Regeneration (Rare )]

Consus all remaining willpower to instantly amplify the body’s regeneration beyond its limits, scaling with the amount consud.

Classification: Physical-type

Willpower Cost: All remaining willpower

Cooldown: 24 hours

Rapid Regeneration.

The skill I’d gotten as a reward on floor 3.

I didn’t know exactly what happened during a Grand Incineration, but… basically, it was going to torch both and the golems with fire, right?

If I dumped all three 300% scrolls onto Rapid Regeneration, the regeneration effect would be twenty-seven tis stronger.

I’d never actually used Rapid Regeneration before. I had no idea how effective it was.

But it was Rare tier, a recovery skill that burned through every last drop of willpower.

The effect had to be impressive.

And I’d be pumping it up by twenty-seven tis.

With that much, maybe I wouldn’t die instantly from the Grand Incineration. Maybe I could hold on for a bit…?

If the boss died to the Grand Incineration, and killing the boss counted as clearing the floor.

And if I could just hold out a little longer than the boss, without dying first…

Having gotten that far, I let out a dry laugh inside.

‘Crazy bastard.’

Was this for real? Was it actually doable?

But whether it was doable or not wasn’t really the question.

I had nothing else. Nothing besides this idea I’d just co up with.

Even if it was the slimst possibility… I had no choice but to try.

Still, it was such a crazy stunt that I spent a long ti trying to think of anything else.

And there was nothing. Of course there wasn’t.

…Fine. Let’s give it a shot.

Sitting there with ti frozen wasn’t solving anything.

I unpaused ti.

I scooped up the scrolls off the floor and tore them open one after another.

[You used ‘Skill Effect 300%’ Scroll on ‘Rapid Regeneration (Rare ).’]

[You used ‘Skill Effect 300%’ Scroll on ‘Rapid Regeneration (Rare ).’]

[You used ‘Skill Effect 300%’ Scroll on ‘Rapid Regeneration (Rare ).’]

The boss was now halfway through the second course.

I stared at the boss, fiddling with the switch in my hand.

“…”

They said burn pain was the worst kind of pain there was.

This was probably gonna hurt like a motherfuuuuucker…?

I rested my slightly trembling thumb on the button.

About to press it, I let out a sigh and summoned Diul instead.

“Hey Diul, you got anything…? Like, sothing that could handle this boss?”

I could feel Diul looking at with sothing close to pity.

Yeah… forget it then.

After sending Diul back, I put my finger on the button again.

Thud, thud, thud.

I faced the boss head-on as it marched toward .

A laugh spilled out of like I’d lost my mind.

Screw it.

If I couldn’t hold on and died, at least it’d be a hell of a way to go.

“…Let’s both kick the bucket together.”

I pressed the button.

Whiiiiirrrr.

With a chanical whine, the ceiling opened up.

A complex apparatus filled the entire ceiling and extended downward.

One thing was clear: countless fire-cannon-like things were all aid downward.

My Sixth Sense went into a frenzy, ringing alarm bells like I was one step from dying.

The mont I felt it, I activated the twenty-seven-tis-boosted Rapid Regeneration.

Imdiately afterward, I froze ti, topped my willpower back up, and activated Skin Hardening.

‘Plli!’

On top of that, I had Plli wrap itself around my body, and used my saved-up Ice Dagger on myself.

At the sa ti, my vision turned blood-red.

KAAABOOOOOOOM!

Plli and the ice coating my body evaporated in an instant.

Everything was nothing but fla.

‘Aaaaghhh…!’

Hurts hurts hurts hurts hurts.

I flailed, enduring a horrific, indescribable pain, and then I froze ti.

Once I was out of the pain, I could finally think straight again.

…I couldn’t believe it.

That this kind of pain could even exist in the world.

Broken bones, an arrow through the stomach, those were nothing compared to what I’d just felt.

I couldn’t shake off the shock for a long while, but eventually I pulled myself together.

Just… in one go.

Pausing ti was basically just dragging out getting whipped.

I released ti again.

“…!”

The pain sizzled and fried my brain.

Crimson flas. And my body, endlessly regenerating inside them.

Reduced to ash in an instant, and then new flesh sprouting in an instant, over and over.

Through my swimming consciousness, I could see the boss golem too.

Already lted, it was using its one revival.

But while I kept on regenerating endlessly, that was all it had.

It couldn’t hold out for even a mont longer before lting down again.

Maybe my brain had short-circuited from the agony.

When I saw the ssage pop up in front of , I laughed.

I…

won……
