After a long silence, Hu Yan clenched his fists.
"We failed," he said simply. "We couldn’t protect you. When they took you away, we could do nothing. We couldn’t find you. We couldn’t save you. We couldn’t even protect our cubs."
Beside him, Han Jue’s hands tightened, veins standing out on the back of his hands.
"When Xiao San and Xiao Er cried... I could only watch," Han Jue said quietly. "The Teng Clan sealed my strength. I couldn’t break free. I couldn’t protect them."
The atmosphere grew heavy. Not far away, the three cubs had stopped drinking milk and were secretly peeking over with worried little faces.
Su Qinglan looked at the two n silently. Her heart ached. These silly beasts. They had nearly died, yet all they worried about was whether she would be unhappy with them.
Su Qinglan sighed softly, then suddenly reached out and grabbed both their ears before pulling them.
Hu Yan blinked. Han Jue stiffened.
"What are you two thinking?" she narrowed her eyes. Before they could answer, she released their ears and flicked their foreheads.
Smack. Smack.
"You idiots. Do you think I bla you?"
Both n stayed silent.
Su Qinglan puffed her cheeks. "When I saw your injuries, I was angry at the people who hurt you. I wished I could beat them myself."
She looked at them seriously. "I never blad you. Not once. You protected our cubs. You protected our family. You fought until you couldn’t move. You risked your lives. How could I bla you for that?"
Her words struck them deeply.
Hu Yan lowered his head and buried his face against her shoulder. "I’m sorry... I really tried."
"I know," Su Qinglan said gently, rubbing his head.
On the other side, Han Jue remained quiet, but his blue eyes turned slightly red. Su Qinglan touched his face softly. He finally leaned forward and rested his forehead on her shoulder, revealing all his exhaustion.
She hugged both n tighter. After a while, Hu Yan asked quietly, "Lan Lan... are you really not angry?"
"No."
"Not even a little?"
"No."
Hu Yan smiled, the first real smile since the incident. Han Jue’s lips also curved slightly.
Suddenly...
"Mother!"
The three cubs protested loudly.
"Mama is hugging Beast Fathers and not us!"
The sad atmosphere broke at once. Su Qinglan burst out laughing. Hu Yan and Han Jue couldn’t help smiling too.
The next second, the three little ones rushed over like cannonballs and crashed into her arms.
"Mama! Mama! Mama!"
Su Qinglan was sitting with the three cubs gathered around her. Xiao San was nestled comfortably against her side while the two tiger cubs leaned against her lap, enjoying the warmth of their mother after everything that had happened. Her fingers gently stroked their soft hair one by one, calming the lingering fear inside their little hearts.
Just then, a familiar voice suddenly rang inside her mind.
[Host, childbirth process detected.]
[Estimated delivery ti: One hour.]
[Countdown initiated.]
A transparent panel appeared before her eyes, displaying all kinds of information.
Su Qinglan blinked in surprise before lowering her gaze toward her swollen stomach. Her palm gently rested on it as a strange feeling filled her heart.
So the babies were finally coming.
The due date was supposed to be today anyway. The corner of her lips curved upward unconsciously.
Nearby, Hu Yan and Han Jue imdiately noticed her expression change.
Both n instantly beca nervous.
"Lan Lan?"
"What’s wrong?"
"Is your stomach hurting?"
"Are the cubs alright?"
The two beastn almost asked at the sa ti. Su Qinglan looked at their worried expressions and shook her head. Then she smiled calmly.
"I think I’m going to give birth."
For a mont, complete silence fell. Hu Yan and Han Jue froze. Even the three cubs stared blankly.
A few seconds later, both beastn nearly fainted.
Going to give birth?
Why was she saying such a terrifying thing with such a calm expression?
Before Su Qinglan could even react, Hu Yan imdiately swept all three cubs into his arms. At the sa ti, Han Jue bent down and directly picked her up in a princess carry.
The world spun before Su Qinglan’s eyes.
"Huh?"
Before she could understand what was happening, Han Jue was already running.
No. Flying was more accurate. The cold, wolf beastman rushed through the city at shocking speed.
Su Qinglan quickly wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Where are you running?"
Han Jue did not even slow down.
"Ho...You’re going to give birth."
Su Qinglan blinked.
"Yes?"
Han Jue looked down at her. His expression clearly said she had asked a stupid question.
"Are you planning to give birth under the open sky?"
Only then did Su Qinglan realize why both n were acting like their house was on fire. She was speechless.
"There is no need to panic. It will still take so ti."
She tried to comfort him.
Unfortunately, just as the words left her mouth, a sudden contraction rolled through her stomach. The sharp pain made her face twist slightly.
Su Qinglan imdiately controlled her expression.
Unfortunately, Han Jue noticed it instantly. His face changed.
"It hurts."
"No."
"It hurts."
"It doesn’t."
Han Jue stared at her. Su Qinglan imdiately looked away. Fine, maybe it hurt a little. Just a tiny little bit.
As they hurried toward the house, Su Qinglan suddenly rembered sothing.
"Shi Feng."
Han Jue imdiately looked down.
"Shi Feng is still in the house of those two brothers. The brothers are called Lei Shan and Lei Ming. I already healed most of his injuries."
"He only lost too much blood that’s why he is still unconscious. He should wake up soon."
Han Jue nodded seriously. He would rember to bring that lion back.
anwhile, Su Qinglan continued talking to distract herself from the growing discomfort.
"Rong Ye should return soon too."
"He was still dealing with Rong Yanchen."
"Now that everything is settled, he will definitely co back."
"And Xuan Long too."
"He should be finished with those Teng Clan people."
Han Jue nodded again.
Su Qinglan kept talking.
Han Jue kept nodding.
After several exchanges, she finally noticed sothing. She narrowed her eyes.
"Why are you not talking?"
Han Jue looked at her. Then nodded again.
Su Qinglan: "..."
She was speechless. How could soone be this cold-faced?
She imdiately lost all desire to continue the conversation. With a soft huff, she buried her face against his shoulder.
Han Jue lowered his eyes slightly. The corner of his lips almost lifted.
Another contraction suddenly ca. Su Qinglan quietly puffed her cheeks. It seed her babies were very obedient normally.
She had specifically told them not to co out early because she was in danger and they had really listened. Not a single one caused trouble.
But now that all their fathers had returned...These little cubs suddenly beca impatient.
Were they really that eager to et everyone?
Soon, the group finally arrived at their house. The mont they entered the courtyard, Hu Yan instantly transford into action mode.
The three cubs had barely touched the ground when he pointed at them.
"You three stay here."
"No running."
"No fighting."
"No noise."
"Mother is going to give birth."
The three cubs imdiately straightened their backs. Their little faces beca serious.
Hu Yan nodded with satisfaction before turning around. "I’m going to get the old healer and Grandma Lan!"
The mont he finished speaking, he disappeared like a gust of wind. Even the dust behind him had not settled before he was gone.
anwhile, Han Jue carefully carried Su Qinglan into the bedroom. He gently placed her onto the bed as if she were the most precious treasure in the world.
After making sure she was comfortable, he imdiately began preparing everything needed for childbirth. Clean blankets, warm water, fresh cloth, and dicine.
Every item was prepared thodically. His movents were calm. But if soone looked carefully, they would notice that his hands were moving much faster than usual.
Su Qinglan watched him running back and forth. A smile slowly appeared on her face. Outside, the three cubs sat obediently by the door.
