Season 3 Arc 12 Author’s Note
Y’ello!
A whole lot and fairly little happened this arc and I’m in a mood to keep things brief, so I shall.
We started the arc with the aftermath of the Aztec affair. The focal point here was the treatnt of Nahoa’s depression, which, by and large, I am pretty happy with. I believe I have demonstrated the severity of what happened to her well enough and also given a good way for her to compensate for that. Ultimately, she was planned as a maid and beca one, but I wanted to be very careful for her to get there. I do not like it when harettes discard their past to beco arm candy.
The Small Tournant, similarly, I am mostly happy with. So of the action sequences were a bit stilted, I feel, courtesy of the formulaic nature of it all, but it achieves the primary goal of showing so more powerful people that exist within Fusion and then how much further above them John is these days.
Raiding with Romulus was a popular idea so I went with it. It was fun to write the OP MC from a story without a system just doing his thing for a bit. It was especially fun to write John’s reaction to all of it though.
After that, we had so dates, Lee’s power developnt, and then we went to China for a bit. The Forbidden City segnt exists mostly because I felt that was sothing John should do. It’s all too easy to only write about harettes coming to him, when he, as a supportive boyfriend (or whatever he is), should be seen at least sowhat frequently going to where his “long distance” relationships are.
It did also let set up so future plot points, though, so that was nice.
And then we are already at the Nympholympics. They were originally just a pun I threw into the story, but I eventually decided to have them actually happen. John only participated in the two gas, which is a bit of a letdown for the lewd enthusiasts among you, I know, but I felt that, pacing wise, it was best to cut it off there.
And then Hypercrush ruined the party.
That’s the very short summary of this arc… despite it being almost 270k words sohow.
Overall, I am very happy with this arc. So of the usual bumps, inevitable for writing a project every day. Still, overall, happy. I got so nice slice of life in, so character developnt/showcasing and so action scenes. A rare instance of the arc feeling balanced and there have been no surprise additions to it.
Speaking of surprise additions… this season has been quite long. I thought the Years of Freedom season would involve a whole lot more ti skips, but that was not thinking very well about how ti slips would interact with levelling and Class Levels. Still, we are about 2 in-story years into it, so at least the title was aptly chosen, even if I thought we would do it in way less chapters.
And after 1500 of them, I can finally say… the next arc will be the final arc of this Season. Plot threads dangling for years shall finally be wrapped up in… I hope a neat way. We’ll see if my set-ups work out in the way I desire them.
As per usual, I do hope you may find it in you(r purse) to support on either SubscribeStar or Patreon:
Every bit helps. There will be so price raises coming shortly after this Author’s Note reaches my payers, as inflation is a thing and I have not raised prices in well over 6 years. I have published an announcent regarding that so ti ago.
Beyond that, I will, as always, appreciate your feedback:
And with that, I have nothing left to say. All eyes shall be opened, the question of kingship finally answered, and the Abyssal USA finally unified in the last arc of Season 3 of my branch of the Gar. It shall be titled: Crown of Thorns.
I hope to see you all then.
