Ryuji clenched his fist. Esdeath's technique was extrely troubleso. If he hadn't experinted with similar ideas before, and if he didn't possess Observation Haki that allowed him to sense the breath of all things and precisely grasp temperature changes, then aside from brute-forcing through it, he wouldn't have had many options.
But he had indeed failed to develop this technique himself.
Simply put, the compatibility wasn't good enough. With magic assisting his abilities, he could imitate a similar effect, but because he hadn't reached the limits of these two abilities yet, the flaws were too significant, and investnt didn't match output.
