The door of the delivery room finally closed, the "everything is normal" red light on outside.
Skyler Jones paced anxiously outside the delivery room.
Seeing Skyler’s anxious deanor, Mrs. Geoffrey couldn’t help but step forward to comfort him, "It’s okay, Oversky, there are so many doctors, don’t worry too much..."
"She’s not in good health, it was a narrow escape when she gave birth to Marie." Skyler clenched his fists, very concerned.
"This shows Christine’s strength... She made it through such difficult tis, and this ti with the doctors’ assurance, nothing will happen..." Howard Geoffrey spoke, also comforting Skyler.
"Yeah, yeah, brother-in-law, my sister doesn’t want you to accompany her because she doesn’t want you to worry, relax and wait patiently..." Rebecca Quentin chid in.
Skyler buried his face in his hands, feeling helpless and irrational for the first ti, his palms full of nervous sweat.
A nurse approached Skyler, speaking gently, "Mr. Jones, please sign this consent form."
"Sign what?" Skyler’s expression turned cold.
The nurse was startled by Skyler’s chilling voice, trembling, "Uh, it’s the surgical consent form... it’s required for all expecting mothers’ families."
Skyler snatched the consent form, glanced at it, and imdiately furrowed his handso face, "What is this? If anything unexpected happens during childbirth that’s neither due to the inadequacy of dical staff nor hospital facilities, the doctor holds no responsibility!?"
"Yes, Mr. Jones..."
Skyler suddenly grabbed the nurse’s collar, "What kind of accident? I forbid any accidents, do you hear ? If there’s an accident during the operation, I’ll raze your entire hospital..."
The nurse was scared pale by Skyler’s warning gaze and grim deanor.
"Brother..."
Howard stepped forward and grabbed Skyler, reassuringly, "The surgical consent form is sothing all families need to sign; it doesn’t an sothing will happen... Don’t be nervous, don’t get agitated, let go of the young lady."
Under Howard’s persuasion, Skyler reluctantly released the nurse.
The nurse was so frightened she practically collapsed.
Rebecca said to the nurse, "Hello, I’m the patient’s sister... I’ll sign."
The nurse nodded, still warily watching Skyler.
Rebecca signed the surgical consent form and gave the nurse a faint smile.
The nurse took the form and hurriedly left the corridor.
Skyler’s fist struck the hospital’s white wall, feeling very tense and restless.
Rebecca leaned in Howard’s embrace, watching Skyler pace nervously, couldn’t help but chuckle, "It’s my first ti seeing brother-in-law lose his composure like this..."
Howard said gently, "That’s because he’s worried about your sister."
Rebecca nodded, "After everything, brother-in-law finally knows to cherish my sister."
Howard pulled Rebecca closer, smiling, "Now you can’t bla for worrying you for days, right?"
Indeed, those days Christine disappeared, Rebecca was very worried. Even though Howard found Christine’s whereabouts, he didn’t tell Rebecca, for which she constantly complained.
Rebecca lightly punched Howard, muttering, "This ti you did well... but don’t ever hide anything from again."
Howard affectionately pecked Rebecca and replied fondly, "As you command, my dear wife."
The nurse explained that if anything happened to the mother during childbirth, the light over the door would turn yellow. So as long as the family saw the red light, they should wait patiently. When the green light ca on, it ant the mother had successfully given birth.
Christine had chosen natural childbirth this ti.
Although, considering Christine’s health, a cesarean was relatively less risky, she chose natural childbirth as it benefits both mother and child in many aspects.
Skyler sat on a chair in the hallway, like an ant on a hot pan, constantly looking up at the red light over the delivery room door, burning with anxiety.
Howard and Mrs. Geoffrey both silently prayed in their hearts for Christine to be well.
Ti ticked by; those inside were working hard while those outside were praying...
Finally...
Three hours after entering the delivery room, the green light over the door ca on.
This green light spurred Skyler to charge to the delivery room door...
Howard and the others followed suit.
At this mont, a nurse erged holding a newborn swaddled in a blanket...
"Christine..."
Skyler called out to the delivery room, almost shedding tears of joy, not because the baby was healthy and born but because Christine finally overca this hurdle.
"Congratulations, it’s a baby boy, weighing three kilograms and six hundred grams," the nurse announced.
Mrs. Geoffrey and Howard were overjoyed at the news, and Mrs. Geoffrey eagerly went forward to embrace her grandson.
Skyler, imrsed in joy and gratitude, suddenly froze on the spot.
A baby boy?
Skyler’s excited expression dropped as he walked toward the nurse, "I’m sorry, what did you say? A baby boy?"
The nurse smiled and nodded, "Yes, a little guy."
Skyler was stunned for a mont, muttering, "How could it be a boy? Nurse, are you mistaken? My wife should have had a daughter, right?"
The nurse, puzzled by Skyler’s question, responded, "Mr. Jones, Mrs. Jones was the only patient in the delivery room, how could we be wrong?"
"This..."
Skyler was utterly confused.
Howard, with sharp eyes, noticed Rebecca secretly laughing on the side. Though he was also unaware of the baby’s gender, from Rebecca’s amused expression, he likely figured out what had happened.
Howard thus remained silent, suppressing a smile, and said nothing.
Mrs. Geoffrey scolded Skyler, "The baby is here, how could there be a mistake..." She cooed at the little one she’d taken from the nurse, full of affection, "Right, dear grandson...you look so much like your father, with that broad forehead and high nose... Just like your father as a child."
Everyone, hearing Mrs. Geoffrey’s description, gathered around...
Skyler still harbored doubt, but his current priority was his sweet wife in the delivery room. At this second, he dashed inside...
