Rebecca Quentin’s face showed confusion, "Sister, what..."
Christine Quinn said quietly, "Don’t you know it was Skyler Jones who forced old Mrs. Geoffrey to return Andrew to you?"
"Huh?" Rebecca Quentin was bewildered. "Can you explain it a bit more clearly to ?"
Christine Quinn explained simply, "Skyler Jones just returned from Paris and is now taking a shower... his phone kept ringing just now, so I took a look and found all the calls were from old Mrs. Geoffrey. He didn’t answer any of them, and then I saw a text from old Mrs. Geoffrey saying she had already returned Andrew to you..."
"You’re saying that Andrew is back with because Skyler Jones helped?"
"Obviously, if it wasn’t for him, why would old Mrs. Geoffrey suddenly let go!"
"But... that’s unlikely, Mr. Jones didn’t even know about this issue."
"Maybe it was that day when I called you, he happened to return and accidentally overheard..."
Rebecca Quentin found it hard to believe.
No...
She always thought it was Howard Geoffrey who was handling this, she never considered it might have anything to do with Skyler Jones.
If the truth was as Christine Quinn said, then the one who got Andrew back for her was Skyler Jones, in which case... Skyler Jones calling her last night made sense. She couldn’t understand why Skyler Jones ntioned she didn’t think of him when she was helpless, but it turned out he was secretly handling the matter for her, no wonder Mrs. Geoffrey suddenly changed her attitude completely...
Christine Quinn said sothing more afterward, but Rebecca Quentin didn’t hear a word, her mind was in a ss, feeling completely deceived.
To think she’d been vaguely worried these past few days, thinking Howard Geoffrey might have strained his relationship with Mrs. Geoffrey over this, and when she treated him coldly today, she felt a bit guilty, after all, he had helped her...
He really was so despicable, clearly having done nothing, yet claiming the credit, knowing Andrew would return to her side was information he learned from either Mrs. Geoffrey or Skyler Jones.
Thinking of this, Rebecca Quentin was filled with anger, but slowly this fla died down in her heart, leaving her entirely in darkness.
In fact, what was there for her to be angry about?
Andrew has already returned to her side, whether he helped or not doesn’t matter anymore...
Just like how he said he "missed her," only to be with Alice Robinson the next mont, he never really cared about her, which was sothing she already knew, wasn’t it?
No wonder when she indirectly questioned him about being with Alice Robinson that day, he chose silence, she thought there might be sothing else behind it...
Now it seems, the foolish one was always her, fortunately, she finally learned a lesson and didn’t let her heart sink further, otherwise, at this mont, who knows how embarrassed she would’ve been...
Howard Geoffrey returned at ten in the morning.
When he returned, Andrew was sleeping, and Rebecca Quentin was sitting by the window reading a book.
Howard Geoffrey walked over quietly.
As soon as Howard Geoffrey entered, Rebecca Quentin already heard his footsteps, and naturally knew he was approaching her, so when he was about to reach her, she closed her book and stood up to face him.
Howard Geoffrey ca in front of her and asked with concern, "Have you had breakfast?"
Rebecca Quentin shook off his hold, moved aside, and answered flatly, "It’s after ten, you should be asking if I’m ready for lunch."
Howard Geoffrey caught a hint of displeasure in Rebecca Quentin’s words, and couldn’t help but take two quick steps to catch up with her, swiftly pulling her into his embrace, "What have I done to upset you this ti?"
Rebecca Quentin used all her strength to break free from him, and once they were apart, she glared at him fiercely, "Please show so respect!"
Howard Geoffrey sensed that Rebecca Quentin’s resistance today wasn’t like usual, his long, narrow black eyes squinted slightly as he observed her closely.
Rebecca Quentin also realized her current emotions were a bit over the top, after all, these matters no longer concerned her, whether he didn’t co back last night or he ca back late today, or whoever he was with, she had no right and no need to care anymore!
Taking a deep breath to calm her emotions, Rebecca Quentin softened her tone and said, "Sorry, I wasn’t very polite, it’s just that I’ve been waiting for you since this morning."
Howard Geoffrey naturally knew that the "waiting for you" Rebecca Quentin ntioned wasn’t in its literal sense, it involved more... indeed...
Rebecca Quentin raised her eyes to et Howard Geoffrey’s gaze and continued, "I wanted to have a good talk with you last night, but you didn’t co back. Now that you’re back, I think we can have a proper discussion."
Howard Geoffrey neither agreed nor disagreed.
Rebecca Quentin then said, "Let’s go talk in the living room, Andrew is sleeping, I don’t want to wake him up." With that, Rebecca Quentin walked out of the room first.
In the living room, seated on the sofa, Rebecca Quentin said calmly, "Howard Geoffrey, the reason I ca to New York was because of Andrew. Now that Andrew is back with , I think it’s ti for to return to Orton."
Howard Geoffrey looked at her but didn’t say anything.
Rebecca Quentin concluded, "I’ve already booked a flight back to Orton for tonight." After saying this, she looked at him, waiting for his response.
No response ca, Howard Geoffrey maintained his silence, not even a trace of emotion on his face.
After waiting a few seconds, Rebecca Quentin stood up and politely said, "Thank you for letting stay at your apartnt these past few days." With that, she walked straight towards the room.
Rebecca Quentin did not know that after she left, Howard Geoffrey’s profoundly dark eyes darkened, under the facade of calmness lay surging waves.
Returning to the room, closing the door behind her, Rebecca Quentin leaned back heavily against it, feeling utterly drained, and fell into deep thought.
She thought discussing this matter with him would surely lead to an argunt...
Unexpectedly, it was so peaceful.
He had no objections to her leaving...
A feeling she couldn’t quite describe spread in her heart, but this was the outco she most wanted.
No matter what, the entanglent of seven years was finally coming to an end...
"Skytop" Group.
Howard Geoffrey sat behind his desk, deep in thought.
Lisa Cecily walked in from outside holding several files. "Mr. Jones, these docunts need your review and signature..."
