Rebecca’s hands grasped tightly beside her body as if in helplessness, then slowly released, her eyes fixed on Mrs. Geoffrey’s resolute, hateful face, a feeling of indescribable pain welling up inside her.
"Miss Quentin, I hope you have the self-awareness not to get entangled with Howard Geoffrey any further. Also, don’t cling to Oversky. Even if Oversky doesn’t want , I would still stop him from being with you, unless he totally severs our mother-son relationship in this life."
It was unclear how much ti passed after Mrs. Geoffrey left before Howard Geoffrey returned to the apartnt.
At the first glance entering the door, Howard noticed Rebecca sitting dazed on the sofa.
A vague sense of foreboding coiled in Howard’s gut, causing him to frown as he approached Rebecca.
Only when she saw Howard standing before her did Rebecca snap back to reality, raising her head to look at him.
Howard crouched in front of Rebecca, directly taking her hands in his.
The chill of winter ice passed from Rebecca’s hands to Howard, prompting him to tighten his grip, transferring his warmth to her, and softly asked, "Are your hands always this cold?"
Rebecca’s gaze never left Howard, her eyes continually fixed on his handso face as he helped warm her hands.
Suddenly, Howard pulled Rebecca into his embrace, holding her tightly, and uttered in a low voice, "Becca, I’m sorry I can’t explain the situation with Alice right now, but every word I’ve said to you cos from my heart, with not the slightest falsehood... Give a little more ti, once I handle what needs handling, we’ll go to Foam Island, and live happily ever after, alright?"
Rebecca leaned into Howard’s embrace without refusal or response, like a body that has lost its soul.
Feeling Rebecca’s abnormality, Howard couldn’t help but pull her away, scrutinizing her face.
Her pale, colorless face with her reddened eyes prominently stood out.
Howard gently lifted Rebecca’s delicate and beautiful face, his voice turning hoarse, "Does seeing like this make you uncomfortable?"
At that mont, Rebecca’s pupils dissipated, her gaze unfocused, not once eting Howard’s eyes.
Bang —
A fist slamd heavily into the luxurious black leather sofa behind Rebecca.
Facing Howard’s trendous fury, Rebecca still did not react, rely sitting quietly on the sofa.
Howard was so frenzied that he felt like howling at the sky, itching to curse aloud, but ultimately restrained himself, gritting his teeth, spitting out, "Rebecca Quentin, listen up, a lifeti is so long, I have more than enough ti to wear you down... The thought of leaving is sheer delusion!!"
Rebecca continued to have no reaction.
Howard irritably tugged at the tie around his neck, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, and once more punched the glass pane.
The atmosphere was that cold and stalemate...
Howard’s handso face was stormy, utterly devoid of his usual composure and calm, exuding a dangerous, violent aura.
Just then, the phone in Howard’s pocket rang, piercing the silence of the hall.
Suppressing his emotions, Howard took out his phone, glancing at the caller ID on the screen, coldly pressed the answer button.
When the call connected, Jason Wood’s slightly anxious voice ca through, "Boss, the fish has bitten... ’M’ has people in France kidnapping Miss Robinson!"
"I have so business to attend to, and will be gone for a few days. If you’re thinking of leaving, I advise you to dismiss that thought. I won’t allow it!! If you need anything, call Lisa Cecily, she can help you with anything. I’ll be back as soon as possible!"
That day, Howard left after saying this.
Three whole days went by without Rebecca receiving a call from Howard, nor did she reach out to him.
The unveiled Howard was domineering and assertive, allowing her absolutely no chance to escape. As soon as she stepped out of the apartnt, his bodyguards would follow her step by step, leaving her no opportunity to leave.
Then again, the way he was angry that day, it was truly terrifying.
She had already forgotten how long it had been since he had been enraged like that in front of her...
The impression she had of him was always cold and ruthless, but she didn’t know from when he began to restrain these in front of her, and it was only upon seeing him angry that she rembered him as he used to be... realizing how much he had unconsciously changed.
