Skyler Jones’s lips curled into a faint smile.
Inside a suite at a certain five-star hotel.
Howard Geoffrey was holding a glass of red wine, sitting quietly on the sofa, his handso face cold and stern, his eyes deep and dark.
Alice Robinson had just woken up, her lazy hair falling loose as she walked out of the room...
Unexpectedly seeing Howard Geoffrey sitting on the sofa, joy instantly glead in Alice’s eyes, and she walked towards him.
"You’re back?"
Alice’s voice was already pleasant, and now speaking to Howard with a gentle tone, it appeared even more intimate.
Howard Geoffrey snapped out of his thoughts, raised his eyes to glance at Alice, "Get ready, we’re going back to New York tonight."
Being able to go back to New York with Howard Geoffrey should have been sothing exciting for Alice, but at this mont, she lowered her eyes bleakly, her voice turning subtly saddened, "Okay, just going back?"
In the depths of Howard Geoffrey’s dark eyes, a hint of sharpness erged, "You know I’ll take you back to New York?"
Alice did not answer.
Howard Geoffrey wisely remarked, "Is it Jason Wood?"
Alice quickly looked up, nervously blurting out, "Don’t bla him, it’s who felt sothing was wrong and went to press him for answers. I told him if you pursue it, I’d take full responsibility..."
Howard Geoffrey coldly asked, "What did he say to you?"
Alice bit her lip lightly; her tone couldn’t hide the sorrow and loss, "He didn’t actually say anything, just acquiesced to my suspicions... When I was kidnapped, I was really scared, afraid they would hurt my unborn child, afraid I’d never see you again. But I never thought you’d co to save . Then, when I thought I couldn’t escape this disaster, you suddenly appeared..."
As she spoke, a bitter smile appeared on Alice’s face, "You can never imagine how ecstatic I was when I saw you coming to rescue in my desperation, yet I didn’t even have the courage to embrace you because I know there’s no place for in your heart... After arriving in this hotel, you know, when I asked if we were going back to New York, hearing you say we weren’t going temporarily, I was really happy... I longed for ti alone with you, imagined you might want to stay in France longer to be with . But gradually, I felt sothing was off because if you truly cared about to stay in Paris, you wouldn’t have subordinates reporting to you about Becca’s situation in New York every day. Your kind of concern for Becca is genuinely from your heart, completely unlike your unclear feelings towards , so I went to ask Jason Wood... Although Jason said nothing, I realized you stayed in Paris, not for , but for your own business. Just now when you asked to return to New York with you, I finally understood, I must be useful to you hence you ca to rescue in France..."
In Howard Geoffrey’s eyes, Alice had always been a smart woman. So at this mont, Howard rely raised an eyebrow, casually asking, "And yet you still agree to go back to New York with ?"
Alice lowered her eyes, which were already blurred by water mist, answering with an aching heart, "Of course I am willing to go back with you because no matter what you want to help you with, I am willing, as long as you’re happy."
Alice’s heartfelt words did not stir much change on Howard Geoffrey’s handso face; instead, at this mont, he placed down the glass of wine and rose from the sofa.
Feeling the aura that Howard Geoffrey exuded, still indifferent, Alice’s heart felt like it was being pierced, but she never once voiced her grievances. Even when she saw Howard leaving, she rely bit her lip and swallowed the bitter lump in her throat.
