"You win, Becca, I’ll let you go!"

Rebecca Quentin abruptly looked up, staring at him blankly, the words caught in her throat already swallowed back down.

"If the price of having you is losing our child and your lifelong unhappiness, the only thing I can do is let you go."

As he said these words, her hand clutched the bedsheet beneath her, a sense of bleakness overwheld her entire being.

"Becca, I want to consider the mories on Foam Island as the most beautiful mories of our years together, is that too much to ask?"

Rebecca Quentin remained silent.

"But I feel ashad, in our seven years together, our beautiful mories amount to just those few days."

An inexplicable sourness surged in Rebecca Quentin’s chest, a tugging pain started to spread from her heart.

"I think if life could start over, you wouldn’t choose to et , would you?"

Rebecca Quentin’s eyes began to redden.

Howard Geoffrey spoke on his own, "I’ve treated you badly, ruined your life, brought you harm ti and again, never considering your feelings... you must really hate that heaven made you et , right?"

Rebecca Quentin’s nose tingled with sourness.

"I’m sorry." Howard Geoffrey’s voice was slightly hoarse.

Finally, tears silently fell from Rebecca Quentin’s eyes, drop by drop, soaking the quilt.

"But did you know, in these seven years, I’ve always been grateful in my heart to heaven for arranging you by my side... my life was always dark, I was busy every day with the deceit of the marketplace, completely unaware of what life was like, until one day, I realized I started to care for soone I shouldn’t, and because of this person, my world started to have color... in the first two years, I always saw my attachnt to her as a way to vent my hatred, so even though I wanted to go ho early every day to see her, I always used work as an excuse to stay at the office late before returning ho, yet she was the one who made it impossible for to let go. No matter how late I ca ho, she always rembered to prepare bathwater for and have clean clothes ready..."

"Perhaps it was precisely these small things that made gradually develop dependence on her, so I started to avoid her, afraid I’d fall deeper for her, often using business trips as an excuse to force myself to stay away from her... two years went by in the blink of an eye, her father committed suicide, the company went bankrupt, I achieved all my goals, yet I found I couldn’t let go of her, and just then, she gave a perfect reason to keep her by my side, she was pregnant..."

"For the first ti, I was going to be a father, I was very happy, but I couldn’t be good to her, because I knew eventually she would hate ... I was always very worried, her health was poor, the doctor told several tis the child might not survive, so I sent her to Arica, where the best doctors were... but I never expected she would have an accident on the plane..."

"I sat by the bedside, watching her lie there on the hospital bed, barely alive, and for the first ti, I felt fear... this fear has haunted for seven years, I’m terrified of seeing her on that hospital bed... for many years I didn’t know why I had this fear, until the day she gave birth, when I heard the doctor say she had delivered the child successfully, I imagined her weak on the bed, and then I knew, I was always afraid of losing her... I was already that afraid of losing her." He paused, a fleeting trace of helplessness and complexity on the edge of his lips.

"However, the ending between her and was predetermined from the start... but I was always unwilling. When dealing with M, I used her sister to test her love for her father, and the result was just as I expected, she couldn’t pass that hurdle, I actually knew she couldn’t. I tried to let her go, but I didn’t expect heaven would give a chance to be with her, and we welcod our second child... I felt it was a gift from heaven to us, so I pursued her, knowing full well it was the wrong choice, but I wanted to do whatever it took to stay by her side... but wrong is wrong, and things inevitably happened out of control..."

His words grew increasingly lancholy, vaguely tinged with self-bla and a helpless desolation.

She had never heard him speak so openly from the heart, and didn’t expect the first ti she listened, it would be the last...

Tears started flooding her eyes, her vision blurring until she couldn’t make out his figure.

"Becca, I think she and I have finally reached the end of the road..."

Rebecca Quentin’s eyes, washed by tears, looked at him with a dull, empty gaze.

"Please forgive for being selfish one last ti... the child is innocent, I can’t abandon him, so I need to negotiate one last deal with her."

Rebecca Quentin took a deep breath to suppress the pain in her heart and finally choked out, "Say it."

"I once promised you that Andrew would go with you, I won’t break my promise, but now I need to add one condition."

"What condition?"

Howard Geoffrey’s voice had regained its calmness, "After you give birth, I’ll give Andrew back to you."

Rebecca Quentin was stunned for a second before she understood what he ant.

He wanted her to trade the child in her womb for Andrew...

Clearly, he was forcing her to keep the child.

After a few seconds of silence, Rebecca Quentin slowly released the tightly bitten lip, and calmly said, "Then I also have a condition, you must release Aunt Clare."

"Alright."

"When can I leave?"

"Anyti."

"I hope you keep your word."

"I will, but I must remind you, if anything happens to the child you’re carrying, you’ll never see Andrew again."

"You..."

Howard Geoffrey had already turned around and left the ward.

She watched his departing figure, her fingers tightly gripping the bed sheet, only slowly releasing.

Her body leaned weakly against the bedhead, her tears wantonly sliding out from her eyes...

Her heart suddenly felt hollow, her blurry eyes unfocused and lost...

Suddenly, her fingers unintentionally touched sothing on the bed, and she picked it up from beside her.

Her vacant eyes stared at the exquisitely wrapped small gift box, she slowly unwrapped it...

Inside, she found a crystal ball...

She glanced at the crystal ball and then took out a note attached inside the gift box, with his handwriting in clear fountain pen script —

It is said that crystal balls hold a magic that can predict the future, my dear, tell , what do you see in our future in the crystal ball, is it the sa as what I see?
