She was grateful for his kindness towards her over the past two years and for his help today...
That’s why she made a wish upon a star today, hoping that his life would beco more brilliant in the future, and that he and his "Christine" would walk together all their lives, just as he said.
Not allowing herself to linger too long, she imdiately pulled open the bedside table drawer and took out the jewelry box inside.
Evading the Geoffrey residence’s security system, she successfully left the house.
The awaiting taxi was already outside the front gate of the Geoffrey residence, and without hesitation, she imdiately got into the car.
Aunt Clare had already packed her luggage and put it in the taxi’s trunk, so the car headed straight for the airport.
Since it would take so ti to get to the airport, she leaned back in her seat and peacefully closed her eyes.
Knowing the car was gradually driving away from the Geoffrey villa, she kept her eyes closed, not looking back once, as they felt dry and sore.
「At the sa ti.」
Howard Geoffrey sat in a chair by the floor-to-ceiling window, sipping red wine and leisurely watching the taxi gradually disappear from sight. Suddenly, he smirked coldly.
Rebecca Quentin had just arrived at the airport when Aunt Clare, who was waiting there, anxiously greeted her, "Miss, you’re finally here! You have no idea how worried I was..."
"It’s okay, we still have plenty of ti."
Aunt Clare took the luggage from Rebecca Quentin’s hand and, anxious to avoid any further complications, hurriedly asked, "Did you bring your passport and everything?"
"Yes," Rebecca Quentin said as she searched for the docunts. Suddenly, she exclaid, "Huh? Why are they gone? These docunts were clearly in here!"
"What?" Completely unprepared for such a situation, Aunt Clare quickly helped Rebecca Quentin search.
However, even after turning the entire handbag inside out, they still couldn’t find the docunts.
Aunt Clare asked anxiously, "Are you certain you put them in this bag?"
Rebecca Quentin shook her head. "Impossible. I specifically put all the docunts in this handbag that I carry with because I knew I was leaving tonight."
Aunt Clare panicked. "Then how could they be gone? You went back to the Geoffrey residence today, didn’t you? Could you have left the docunts there?"
Rebecca Quentin considered it carefully. She couldn’t rule out the possibility, as she had indeed rummaged through her handbag at the Geoffrey residence tonight. Perhaps she had inadvertently left the docunts there.
Glancing at the airport clock, Rebecca Quentin quickly calculated that she still had ti. "I need to go back to the Geoffrey residence," she said urgently.
"But..." Aunt Clare was worried about Rebecca Quentin returning to that place, but they couldn’t manage without the docunts. In the end, she relented. "Alright, go quickly and co back. I’ll wait for you here."
"Okay."
She hailed the sa taxi that had brought her to the airport, and Rebecca Quentin asked the driver to rush back to the Geoffrey residence at top speed.
Everything seed the sa as when she left; the Geoffrey residence was still in a state of slumber.
Tiptoeing to the second floor, she gently turned the doorknob of her bedroom. Not daring to turn on the light, she fumbled her way towards the dressing table where she had searched her bag earlier.
Afraid of waking the person sleeping in the bed, she moved with extre caution until she finally reached the dressing table.
However, by the faint light filtering in through the window, she didn’t see the docunts she thought she had left there. Just as a puzzled expression crossed her face, a familiar yet strangely cold male voice suddenly sounded by her ear, "Are you looking for this?"
Rebecca Quentin was startled and instinctively looked towards the source of the sound. In the darkness, she saw the docunts she had been desperately searching for were now in soone’s hands. Her face turned deathly pale; at that mont, she saw Howard Geoffrey sitting in the shadows by the floor-to-ceiling window.
"You... how could you...?" Rebecca Quentin was still stamring from the shock.
Howard Geoffrey casually tossed the docunts aside. Fixing his gaze on her, he chuckled coldly. "I really underestimated you, Rebecca Quentin. You’re much smarter than I thought."
His tone was devoid of its usual restraint and gentleness; it was so cold it felt like entering hell.
"I... I don’t know what you’re talking about." Rebecca Quentin leaned against the wall, her voice noticeably weaker.
Howard Geoffrey’s eyes narrowed slyly. "Very good. Even now, you can still play dumb."
Looking into his eyes, hidden in the darkness, she felt as if spikes were pricking her back; any disguise seed useless before him. That feeling of being utterly seen through left her defenseless.
After a second of silence, Rebecca Quentin, her thoughts racing, abruptly turned and rushed towards the door.
