Christine Quinn climbed into bed after also taking a shower and changing her clothes, "I’m sleeping with you tonight."
"Hmm."
The two sisters lay down on the bed.
Christine turned her body, looked at Becca’s not-so-bright delicate face, and asked, "Have you thought it over?"
Becca turned her face as well, "What?"
Christine furrowed her brow, "Didn’t I tell you to go find Howard Geoffrey?"
Becca’s eyelashes lowered slightly, falling silent.
"What are you hesitating about? I saw in the news that Howard Geoffrey is currently in T City; you can go see him right away!" Christine said anxiously.
Becca slowly lifted her dim lashes, looking calmly at her sister, "Even if I go to see him, he won’t want to see ."
"Do you just know he won’t see you?"
Becca forced a smile, "Last ti on a business trip, by a stroke of coincidence, I saw him in France... and so unpleasant things happened between us; he said he doesn’t want to see again."
Christine shot Becca a glare, "What he said to you isn’t important; what’s important is that there might be a misunderstanding between you two. The most crucial thing now is to figure that out."
Becca nodded lightly, "I will go and ask him."
Christine breathed a sigh of relief instantly, "You scared ; I thought you really didn’t care anymore."
"’Care’?" Becca seed to hear a very strange word, a soft sadness displayed on her face, but she still maintained that forced smile as she slowly uttered, "Does this word still hold any aning for and him?"
"Why wouldn’t it have aning? As long as it’s a misunderstanding, you and Howard Geoffrey might..." Christine paused as if realizing sothing, then continued, "might get back together."
In saying this last part, Christine noticeably lost the confidence she had earlier in persuading Becca.
Becca laughed softly, "This possibility, both you and I know, is hardly possible."
"It’s not entirely impossible!" Christine persuaded, "Just because he’s with Alice Robinson now doesn’t an he no longer has feelings for you, right?"
"Sis, he seems really happy now..." She rembered at the banquet, he looked at Alice with such gentle eyes, and he was very attentive and considerate to her too.
"So people’s happiness is only on the surface, just like you... Be good, talk to him nicely when you see him, don’t be stubborn." With that, she thoughtfully helped Becca pull the blanket over and added, "Have a good sleep, and go see him early tomorrow."
Becca sighed softly and slowly closed her eyes.
Becca already called Manager Smith to take two days off.
The reason for taking two days off was not only to clear up that "misunderstanding" but also to accompany Christine, especially since the last ti Christine ca, she was hurriedly away on a business trip.
Early in the morning, Christine made breakfast for Becca.
After breakfast, Christine urged Becca to leave early. After a night of contemplation, Becca no longer hesitated, flagged down a cab, and headed towards "Skytop."
The vehicle quickly stopped in front of the "Skytop" building...
Getting off the car, Becca looked from afar at the magnificent "Skytop" building, suddenly taking a deep breath and slowly walking towards "Skytop."
She didn’t know if anyone would recognize her, so to avoid trouble, she deliberately wore sunglasses today.
The "Skytop" receptionist smiled and inquired, "Is there anything I can help you with?"
"Uh, I would like to see your CEO’s secretary."
"Do you an Secretary Cecily?"
Becca nodded. She figured seeing him directly would be impossible, and the receptionist would definitely ask for her identity and remind her of the need for an appointnt, hence finding Secretary Cecily might be simpler.
"I need to call Secretary Cecily, but first, miss, I need to know your identity."
"Tell Secretary Cecily that it’s ’Quentin’, she knows."
"Alright."
The receptionist promptly dialed Lisa Cecily’s number.
Soon, she responded to Becca, "Miss Quentin, sorry, Secretary Cecily isn’t in today."
"Oh."
"Perhaps you can co back tomorrow, or leave your contact information, so I can pass it on to Secretary Cecily later."
"No need, I’ll find so ti to co back."
Turning around, Becca slowly walked out of "Skytop."
Becca walked sowhat dazedly out of "Skytop," thinking about what she should do next. To her surprise, as she stepped out of the "Skytop" gates, a black Bentley just happened to park outside, and that tall and handso figure stepped out from the car.
Without any warning, just as she was heading towards the road to hail a taxi, she inadvertently caught a glimpse of him.
His gaze, coincidentally, lifted at that mont, spotting her imdiately.
Once so intimate, with or without sunglasses, it made no difference in his eyes; his gaze landed on her.
Their eyes t, and her steps suddenly halted in place.
Neither deliberately acted as though they didn’t know each other, but his gaze rely brushed over her for a second before turning to talk with an executive from a company seemingly collaborating with "Skytop."
Following Howard Geoffrey, Jason Wood also noticed Becca, his eyes showing a hint of surprise.
Howard Geoffrey talked and laughed with the collaborating executive, his eyes never once looking back at Becca.
Becca stood aside, watching them walk into "Skytop."
After a long ti, Becca snapped back to reality.
She took a deep breath, prepared to leave, but just as she was about to take a step, a male voice suddenly sounded from behind, "Miss Quentin."
Recognizing Jason Wood’s voice, she imdiately turned around.
Jason Wood jogged to her, panting slightly, "Miss Quentin, the CEO wants to see you."
Outside the CEO’s office, Becca sat quietly.
Inside, Howard Geoffrey was still discussing business; Jason Wood asked her to wait here for a mont.
Becca never would have thought she’d wait for nearly the entire morning, until just before noon, when Howard Geoffrey finally erged from his office with that collaborating executive.
The two seed to have had an enjoyable conversation...
The well-known executive in T City took the initiative to shake hands with Howard Geoffrey, words of flattery escaping his mouth, "If Mr. Geoffrey doesn’t mind, I would like to host you for dinner tonight, grateful that Mr. Geoffrey chose to collaborate with our company..."
