Christine Quinn was embarrassed. Her affair with Skyler Jones was now publicly known, but who knew that apart from Marie, there was hardly any contact between them.
Christine naturally had no need to explain too much to her lover, so she just smiled.
Chester Robinson’s gaze turned back to Rebecca Quentin, "Do you have ti now?"
At that mont, Rebecca frantically pulled Chester to the side, "Why are you here?"
Chester answered seriously, "I happened to see you shopping here, so I called you, but you didn’t answer my call."
"Doctor Robinson, you also saw my sister here, I really don’t want to..."
At this mont, Chester suddenly reached out and wrapped his arm around Rebecca’s slender waist.
Rebecca gasped sharply.
Chester had already turned Rebecca around, facing Christine Quinn, revealing his usual graceful smile, "Miss Quinn shouldn’t mind giving Becca’s ti this afternoon, right?"
Christine looked at Chester’s hand wrapped around Rebecca’s waist, her eyes widening.
"Doctor Robinson..."
Rebecca didn’t have ti to say anything as Chester had already embraced her and seated her in the car, then Chester went to the driver’s seat, and under Christine Quinn’s shock, drove off with Rebecca.
Inside the car, Rebecca slapped Chester, who was driving, complaining, "Hey, how can you do this?"
Chester’s face was serious, "You and I are single, being together isn’t a big deal."
"But we’re just friends."
"I didn’t say that you and I are together."
"This way my sister will misunderstand..."
"You can explain to her when you go back!"
Rebecca let out a light snort.
Chester glanced at her downcast face in the rearview mirror, "Are you really that afraid of others misunderstanding us being together?"
Rebecca murmured, "Others don’t matter, but she’s my sister, she’ll ask about my relationship with you in detail. I’m afraid I can’t explain clearly." If she explained her relationship with Doctor Robinson clearly, her sister would be puzzled why she was so close to a doctor.
Chester chuckled softly, "Just say I’m pursuing you."
Rebecca couldn’t resist blaming again, "It’s all your fault."
"Alright, I’m just worried... Averill suddenly has a surgery and needs to rush back to New York today, so you must go to the hospital once..."
Rebecca suddenly fell silent.
Chester comforted, "Don’t be nervous, maybe it will be good news."
"Doctor Robinson, you don’t have to be so kind to ..."
"We’re friends, Averill and I have so acquaintance, asking him for help isn’t a hassle."
"Thank you."
Hospital.
In the quiet surgery room, Rebecca had already changed into sterile clothing and lay on the hospital bed.
Outside the ward, Chester was discussing Rebecca’s physical condition with Averill...
Rebecca couldn’t hear what they were discussing, but she could roughly guess their conversation because it was the second ti Chester had made tireless efforts to invite authoritative foreign doctors to help her.
She rembered last ti before the doctor examined her, Chester also spent a long ti discussing with the doctor outside the ward like today...
That day she waited with much hope for the doctor’s examination results, but... the results were disappointing.
Because of that "disappointnt", she began to feel fear, so in the subsequent tis, she tactfully refused whenever Chester ntioned the examination.
The door of the surgery room was pushed open at this ti...
The doctor in a white gown and two nurses walked in.
Rebecca slowly closed her eyes...
The examination didn’t actually take long, but Rebecca felt it lasted for an entire century.
After the examination, Dr. Averill didn’t directly speak with her about her condition but stepped out of the surgery room to discuss it with Chester who had been standing outside the door all along.
Rebecca lay quietly on the bed, her mind blank.
Shortly after, Chester pushed the door open and ca in.
The nurse in the surgery room perceptively went out.
Chester sat at the bedside, gently wiping away the fine sweat from Rebecca’s forehead caused by enduring the pain during the examination, and said softly, "Are you alright?"
Rebecca nodded lightly.
"I’ll get you so water."
As Chester was about to turn away, Rebecca suddenly reached out and grabbed Chester.
Chester’s body halted.
Rebecca, sowhat weakly, asked, "Doctor Robinson, how are the results?"
Chester turned around, gazing at Rebecca’s pallid face, sighed lightly, "The results are still not very optimistic... but that’s only Averill’s opinion, there are many authoritative doctors, and it doesn’t an there’s no possibility of cure."
Rebecca fell silent.
One authoritative doctor says so, another authoritative doctor also says so...
Chester’s words eventually just beca a consolation.
Rebecca struggled to get up.
Chester promptly ca over, gently supporting her, "You’d better rest for a while."
"I’m fine."
Sitting up against the headboard, Rebecca calmly said, "I’ve already said, you’re just wasting your ti by helping , it’s not exactly a tragic thing, after all, I already have Andrew."
"You’re still young, there’s a life you need to live in the future..."
"I think being alone is quite good."
"Becca..."
"Doctor Robinson, thank you for helping ... please escort Dr. Averill for , and thank him."
"Okay."
As Chester escorted Averill to the airport, Rebecca had already left the hospital.
Walking quietly alone on the bustling streets, the clamor around seed unrelated to her.
Suddenly, she stopped before a store selling baby products.
Through the glass window, she saw a couple choosing baby products.
The couple was very young, the husband cautiously supported his wife, the pregnant wife was earnestly picking out baby clothes.
The husband saw her pick up a blue baby outfit, and imdiately reached out to choose a pink one.
The husband seed to say sothing to his wife, the wife’s face lit up with a happy smile, and so she put down the blue clothes and took the cute pink one from her husband’s hands...
The husband tenderly kissed his wife, happiness radiated between them.
Rebecca couldn’t help but lose her focus, her mind suddenly flooded with a past mory―
