Rebecca Quentin had been back from the hospital for a few days. Only upon her return did she discover that the servants who had previously cared for her had all been dismissed. The newly assigned caretakers treated her even more cautiously than before. Consequently, Rebecca Quentin was now treated like a deity; they aided her with every step and cautioned her against exerting herself with every move, doing everything short of feeding her.

This treatnt was likely ordered by Howard Geoffrey himself. Rebecca Quentin sincerely felt guilty towards the dismissed servants. After all, they had cared for diligently, and it was my own recklessness... But every ti I think about how Howard went to such lengths for my sake, my heart feels oddly moved.

Despite this feeling, I won’t let myself succumb. I know this sense of being touched is rely a remnant of the affection from our two years together. The person I am now won’t harbor any illusions about him, especially after I’ve so deeply experienced his attitude towards .

Reality proved I indeed shouldn’t overthink things. Since returning from the hospital, she hadn’t seen him for many days, just like in the previous months. He ca and went as he pleased, without any change.

Thus, she returned to waiting contentedly for the birth of her child. When free, she would sunbathe a little and drink so soup. The doctor had said the leg cramps she suffered last ti were due to a calcium deficiency. Fortunately, although she was lean, her constitution wasn’t weak; otherwise, neither she nor the baby would have made it.

To avoid such dangerous incidents happening again, and hoping my sprained foot recovers soon, I should pay more attention to improving my nutrition. Therefore, at that mont, she once again accepted the soup proffered by the servant.

However, just as she was about to drink the soup in one gulp, her phone suddenly rang.

Only two people would call : Isabella Joanna or Aunt Clare. As expected, when she picked up her phone, the screen displayed Aunt Clare’s na.

Setting the soup aside, Rebecca Quentin leisurely leaned against the sofa and called out softly, "Aunt Clare."

From the other end of the line, Aunt Clare’s slightly heavy, respectful voice always ca through, "Miss."

Assuming Aunt Clare was calling to persuade her, as she had done before, Rebecca Quentin preemptively said, "Aunt Clare, you really don’t need to try and persuade anymore. I know you’re looking out for , but I have my own choices. He’s very good to ; I won’t make the wrong choice. You just take good care of ’Quentin’ for , don’t worry..."

Aunt Clare interrupted her, "I’m not calling to persuade you today. There’s sothing more important I need to tell you."

"Oh, I’m sorry. Please, go ahead."

"This morning, I received a subpoena from the court... regarding your father’s previous case. Apparently, the victim has new evidence proving the judge’s initial verdict was a mistake. Upholding the principles of fairness and justice, the court has decided to re-examine the case in three days."

Rebecca Quentin, who had been sitting comfortably on the sofa, stiffened instantly, her eyes wide as she asked, "What? How could this happen? What should we do now?"

Aunt Clare responded helplessly, "I also don’t know what the best course of action is, so I wanted to ask if you could co back to figure out how to handle this."

Aunt Clare would never use such an important matter to trick into returning. Rebecca Quentin remained calm and asked rationally, "Can we get in contact with the ’victim’?"

If we could et the ’victim,’ maybe I could understand if Father really did anything wrong that year. After all, to relentlessly pursue charges against soone wouldn’t be solely for the sake of slander.

"We can’t contact them. The victim is still using representatives in court. Allegedly, to create a bigger stir, the victim is adamant about a public hearing this ti and has even leaked the information to major dia outlets in T City."

Rebecca Quentin was taken aback. "What?"

"Miss, it’s not easy to discuss this clearly over the phone. You should co back first, then we can figure things out." Even while anxious about the matter, Aunt Clare didn’t forget to urge Rebecca Quentin to co ho.

"I’ll imdiately..." Rebecca Quentin was about to blurt out "co ho" but abruptly realized her current predicant. Despite her anxiety about her father’s case, she cald herself and said rationally, "I... I’ll figure out a way to deal with this imdiately. Don’t worry, I’ll give you an answer later."

Aunt Clare’s anxious "Miss..." still echoed in her ear, but Rebecca Quentin had already hurriedly hung up.

「Skytop Group’s T City branch office.」

Jason Wood knocked on the door before entering the president’s office.

Seeing Howard Geoffrey sitting at his office desk absorbed in his work, Jason Wood bowed respectfully, "Boss."

Howard Geoffrey continued to sign docunts, his voice as indifferent as always, "Hmm."

"Regarding your suspicions about Miss Quentin’s background, I couldn’t find any leads."

Howard Geoffrey’s hand paused mid-signature. He lifted his eyes and glanced at Jason Wood. "When did you beco so inefficient?"

Scolded by the boss for inefficiency, Jason Wood kept his head bowed, not daring to make a sound.

Yes, on the very day I sent the video to the Boss, he had ordered to investigate the ’madam’s’ potentially hidden background.

Initially, I didn’t quite understand why the Boss would suddenly ask to investigate the ’madam’s’ background. Later that night, I accidentally overheard Miss Quinn ntioning Marilyn Quinn’s illness to the Boss. It was then I realized the reason was quite simple...

Miss Quinn and the ’madam’ are half-sisters, sharing the sa father. Therefore, even if the ’madam’ herself doesn’t have the MNSsU blood type, a child she bears could inherit Alexander Quentin’s rare MNSsU blood type. However, Aunt Clare stated with such certainty that the ’madam’s’ child couldn’t save Marilyn. This implies Aunt Clare already foresaw that the ’madam’ couldn’t possibly give birth to a child with the MNSsU blood type. And there’s only one reason Aunt Clare could possess such foresight: the ’madam’ and Alexander Quentin are not biologically father and daughter.
