Howard Geoffrey released Alice Robinson and said blandly, "I still have things to do today, you should head back first!" With that, he walked toward his desk.
Alice kept up with Howard’s pace and murmured, "You’re busy like this every day, I don’t even have extra ti to spend with you."
"Be good, you know ’Skytop’ just moved to Paris, and there are many things for to handle."
"Alright, I’ll go back first, but you must co to my house tonight, Daddy said to invite you over for dinner."
"Okay."
Alice was pleased to hear that. She walked to Howard’s side, affectionately wrapped her arms around his neck, and said coquettishly, "Then you’ll co to my house tonight..."
"Cough, cough..."
Alice’s words were interrupted as Lisa Cecily walked in carrying a large stack of docunts.
Lisa awkwardly said, "Sorry for the interruption."
Alice’s face turned red with embarrassnt, and she quickly let go of Howard’s neck, standing shyly to the side.
Lisa placed the docunts on Howard’s desk and said seriously, "President, these are the docunts you need to sign this afternoon, including the budget for the Los Angeles project sent by headquarters..."
"Okay."
Alice looked at the tall stack of docunts and appeared despondent.
After Lisa retreated, but before she left the office, she suddenly turned back and added, "Oh, President, I forgot to remind you, you have an appointnt with the president of Anson Group tonight. You’ve already postponed it twice before, so you can’t reject it again tonight!"
At this mont, Alice’s face was full of sorrow, and even her straight posture slumped.
At the sa ti, it was 10 PM at night in T City.
Rebecca Quentin ca out of the bathroom, drying her hair. Christine Quinn was leaning against the headboard, grumbling, "It’s still on the front page headline, and it’s been five days. What are they trying to pull?"
Rebecca sat on the edge of the bed, took the magazine from Christine’s hand, and placed it on the nightstand, speaking softly, "It’s very late, sis, let’s go to sleep!"
"No way, Becca, if Howard keeps ignoring this, the situation will just get worse."
"I’ve taken a week off, and there are still two days left out of the week."
"If he really cared about this matter, it shouldn’t take a week to handle. He could solve it with just one phone call!"
Rebecca suddenly found herself at a loss for words. Indeed, with his capability, solving this issue might not even need a phone call personally to the newspaper; Jason Wood and Lisa Cecily could handle it.
Christine spat angrily, "Truly heartless, once a man finds a new sweetheart, he forgets the old love, n really are no good!"
Rebecca remained silent, continuing to towel-dry her wet hair.
Christine couldn’t hold back, "Becca, I don’t have that good a temper. If Howard continues to ignore this, I’ll not only call and scold him, I’ll also complain to old Mrs. Geoffrey. It’s not fair to be bullied like this!"
Rebecca stayed at ho for an entire week, unaware of the chaos outside, but she discovered that the journalists who had been camped downstairs for a whole week suddenly retreated that day.
It was the first ti in a week that Rebecca drew open the curtains in her room.
Morning sunlight poured into the room, bright and clear.
Christine was awakened by the light stimulation, groaning as she woke from her sleep, "Becca..."
"Sis, did I disturb your rest?"
Christine, wearing pajamas, sat up, "No, I usually wake up around this ti."
Rebecca happily announced, "Sis, all the journalists downstairs have left..."
Christine doubtfully got out of bed, "No way? They were all there just yesterday!"
"It’s true, they dispersed, I watched for several minutes, they weren’t hiding in other corners."
Christine went to the window, took a glance outside, "It’s true, not one left!"
Rebecca was in high spirits, "I told you, he would take care of it."
Christine crossed her arms and leaned against the window, "Well, he still has a bit of conscience, although it doesn’t change the fact he’s still a heartbreaker."
"Sis..."
"Fine, I won’t criticize him. It’s pointless to do so, just wastes my breath."
Rebecca nodded in satisfaction, then went into the bathroom to wash up and do her makeup. After finishing her makeup, she returned to her room, adjusted her clothes in front of the full-length mirror, and said, "Sis, I have to go to work today, I can’t keep you company at ho. If you’re bored, go out shopping. Oh, and buy a gift for Marie for ."
Christine lay on the bed, nodding, "Alright."
Rebecca, full of energy, went downstairs. Still a bit nervous, she wore sunglasses as she looked around, thankfully finding her surroundings indeed peaceful.
Rebecca walked out of the community gate and was about to go to the bus stop to wait for the bus, when a white car suddenly stopped right in front of her.
Seeing the familiar car, Rebecca smiled slightly and waved to greet the person inside, "Doctor Robinson, morning."
The car window rolled down, Chester Robinson’s face, especially handso in the sunlight, bore a faint smile, "Get in, I’ll give you a ride."
Rebecca checked the ti on her phone and shook her head, "No need, today I have enough ti to wait for the bus."
"I’m heading to the hospital, going the sa way, I’ll drop you off along the way."
Hearing the words "along the way," Rebecca didn’t stand on ceremony...
Sitting in the car and fastening her seatbelt, Rebecca was imdiately attracted by a pleasant scent.
"Milk and your favorite sandwich to replenish your morning energy consumption."
Rebecca picked up the breakfast but suspiciously said, "Thank you... but, you said it’s on the way, yet buying this sandwich seems like a long detour."
Chester did not explain, just lightly said, "Eat up!"
Rebecca lowered her head to bite into the sandwich, suddenly recalling Christine’s words.
See how attentive he is to you, working so hard yet still taking ti to buy things for you, and he even cares about your health. This man definitely has more than just friendship feelings for you...
When that thought echoed in her mind, Rebecca suddenly looked up at Chester.
Chester sensed Rebecca’s gaze, glanced at her through the rearview mirror, and asked, "What’s wrong?"
"No... nothing."
Chester chuckled softly, "If you want to say sothing, just say it. Why be hesitant with ?"
Rebecca swallowed the sandwich in her mouth and said seriously, "Doctor Robinson, there’s no need for you to go out of your way to buy breakfast. If I get to the company early, I can eat sothing at the cafeteria."
"Has anyone ever told you you’re not the type to beat around the bush? Saying things indirectly feels awkward."
"I..."
Chester directly asked, "Are you wondering if I’m pursuing you?"
