Not seeing Howard Geoffrey outside the ward, Becca Quentin imdiately headed towards the doctor’s office where he might be.
She hadn’t yet approached the doctor’s office when she overheard the whispers of two nurses.
"Did you see him? He’s really handso!"
"Of course, I saw him... Unfortunately, when he was talking to the doctor, I couldn’t be there."
"Don’t you think he looks familiar?"
"I also think he looks like the president of the ’Skytop’ group ntioned in the magazines... But how could Howard Geoffrey co to our M City? I heard he rarely cos back to the country, and the first branch has moved to France..."
"The key point is that his surna is also Geoffrey!!"
"He’s really so handso... You don’t know, although I didn’t hear what he was saying to Doctor Simons, I saw the usually arrogant Doctor Simons being so submissive in front of him..."
"Yes, and the director just personally instructed us to take good care of the lady in room sixteen!"
"Do you think he might be Howard Geoffrey?"
"Probably not. I rember on the news it said Howard Geoffrey’s girlfriend is very beautiful, unlike the one in the hallway who is at most just pretty but also seems quite familiar..."
The conversation between the two nurses left Becca Quentin stunned for a long ti.
"Miss Quentin."
A call brought Becca Quentin back to her senses. "Roye."
Roye was holding two packed als, saying, "The president has sothing to do in the afternoon. He knows you haven’t eaten all day, so he specifically asked to get a light lunch that suits your taste..."
"Thank you."
"You should be thanking the president. He’s very concerned about you."
Roye spoke without reservation, little knowing that during the al, Becca Quentin kept thinking about the words "concerned."
Halfway through the al, Becca Quentin’s phone rang.
Seeing "Doctor Robinson" displayed on the phone screen, Becca Quentin pressed the answer button, "Hello..."
"Becca, are you working?"
"No, I’m in M City."
"You went to M City?"
"I ntioned before that the elder who took care of since I was young fell ill, so I ca to M City to see her."
"Is it serious? Do you need my help?"
"You’re in France now, even if I need your help, I’m afraid you wouldn’t make it."
"From your voice, it seems the situation isn’t very serious."
"Yes, elders inevitably have so ailnts... By the way, when are you coming back? Is Uncle Robinson doing well?"
"As you said, elders inevitably have ailnts, but he is still quite hearty and it’s not a big issue."
"So you’ll be back in a few days?"
"What, not used to having no neighbor next door like ?"
"No... I won’t talk to you anymore, I have things to do."
"Alright, see you later in T City."
"Okay."
Ending the call, Becca Quentin didn’t continue her lunch and fell into contemplation.
Over the next two days, Becca Quentin disregarded Aunt Clare’s agreent and stayed at the hospital day and night with her.
After the last dialysis, Aunt Clare’s condition had stabilized, and the doctor said that as long as there was a suitable kidney source, surgery could happen at any ti.
Becca Quentin felt a bit relieved, took ti off from Manager Smith, deciding to stay at the hospital until Aunt Clare was discharged.
In the afternoon, Howard Geoffrey invited her out for dinner.
Initially, Becca Quentin didn’t want to go, but as if so mysterious force compelled her, she ended up agreeing.
It was the sa elegant restaurant as last ti, the spot by the window, and Howard Geoffrey ordered her favorite curry steak.
In the past days, because she was always at the hospital, Becca Quentin hadn’t seen much of Howard Geoffrey. She admitted she knowingly avoided him. Of course, Howard Geoffrey sotis had things to attend to, so he wouldn’t linger long at the hospital either.
While they ate in silence, Howard Geoffrey suddenly asked, "Do you like the environnt here?"
Becca Quentin mumbled a quiet "Mm."
Howard Geoffrey sighed, "While M City isn’t as prosperous as T City, the air quality here is nice, and people seem more genuine. You could co here for a holiday when you have ti."
"I hardly have ti to think about holidays. I’m just praying Aunt Clare can get through this."
"You don’t need to worry about Aunt Clare’s situation. If nothing unexpected happens, she can have surgery in a couple of days."
Becca Quentin, excitedly dropping her cutlery, looked at Howard Geoffrey, "Really?"
"Yes, a young person who has passed away donated it."
"That’s wonderful!!"
It had been a long ti since Howard Geoffrey had seen Becca Quentin so happy, staring at her radiant smile, his eyes inadvertently becoming lost in thought.
