Howard Geoffrey took off his apron and wrapped his arms around Becca’s waist, "You have all my life to slowly get to know ."
Becca’s eyes glistened with tears at Howard’s words, "Howard, we’re together now, am I really not dreaming?"
"Are you still afraid?"
Becca nestled into Howard’s embrace with affection, "When I woke up just now, I saw you weren’t by my side. I was really scared... I feared that last night was just a dream, and when I woke, everything would change."
Howard gently ruffled Becca’s hair with doting care, "Silly, I told you, I will never leave you again."
The plates on the dining table were cleanly eaten, and Becca stood beside the table, wrapping her hand around Howard’s neck, complinting once again, "Turns out your cooking is so delicious!"
Howard held Becca by the waist, "I haven’t cooked in a long ti, I’m a bit rusty."
Becca raised an eyebrow, "Are you bragging about yourself now?"
Howard’s lips curled into a smile, "But I don’t have the ti to make it for you every morning."
Becca tiptoed to give Howard a kiss, "Then from now on, I’ll make it for you every morning!"
"Alright."
Becca leaned into Howard’s embrace.
Howard held Becca, kissed her hair softly, and said, "I sll like oil and smoke, I’ll go take a shower."
"Okay."
When Howard ca out of the bathroom wearing a robe, Becca had already changed her clothes.
Becca naturally didn’t forget there were important matters today; she needed to go to the hospital early, because Aunt Clare was having an operation today!
Howard asked, "Are you going to the hospital now?"
Becca sat on the edge of the bed, distressed, "My bag is at XXX Hotel, it has my docunts and so of Aunt Clare’s dical records... Now it’s a hassle."
Howard sat on the edge of the bed with her, pulling the troubled Becca closer, "The police collected all the guests’ belongings last night. I already had Roye pick them up; it’s with him now. He’ll go to the hospital with you later."
Becca looked at Howard in disbelief.
Howard chuckled softly, "Why that expression?"
"Why can you always think of everything so thoroughly? With everything that happened last night, you still rembered to have soone find my bag?"
Howard kissed Becca’s cheek with affection, "You’re just too scatterbrained."
Scatterbrained?
How could that be? She’s never scatterbrained when it cos to things. With so much happening last night, how could she find the ti to think about anything else? Her mind was only on being with him; it’s just that he thought of things more comprehensively than she did.
Of course, her mind couldn’t compare with his, otherwise he wouldn’t have beco a "shrewd businessman"!
"What are you thinking about?"
"Nothing."
If she told him she was thinking about him being a "shrewd businessman," would he get angry?
At this point, Howard pulled Becca onto his lap.
Becca wasn’t used to such intimate movents with him in private, except on the bed, and her face flushed red.
Howard rested his chin on Becca’s water-like fair face and said softly, "When I’m not around, don’t forget to take good care of yourself."
Just hearing this from Howard, Becca’s slender body trembled heavily, and she imdiately wanted to get off Howard’s lap.
However, Howard seed to have anticipated Becca’s thoughts, holding her firmly with both arms, "Don’t be mad, listen to what I have to say first."
Becca turned her head, looking at Howard, her eyes suddenly filled with a quiet sadness, her voice rough, "You’re still going to leave , aren’t you?"
Seeing the hazy mist in Becca’s eyes, Howard adjusted her position, lightly cupping her face with endless tenderness, "Don’t cry, listen to first."
No sooner had Howard finished speaking, Becca’s tears flowed uncontrollably. She reached out to hug Howard, resting her head on his shoulder, and hoarsely said, "I don’t care... You said you wouldn’t abandon , you said you’d never leave , you can’t go back on your word..."
Howard gently patted Becca’s back, soothing her, "Silly, when did I ever say I wouldn’t want you?"
Becca raised her tear-filled face, accusingly complaining to Howard, "What you just said ant you were going to leave..." She thought they would never be apart from now on.
Faced with her tears, Howard awkwardly wiped them away with his thumb, trying hard to comfort her gently, "I am leaving, but I’m not leaving you. I just have so things to take care of."
Becca’s tears fell more fiercely, with anxiety and a feeling of grievance in her heart. Yet she didn’t want to act unreasonably in front of him, so she could only endure the strong sense of reluctance and ask, "What about after you take care of things?"
Howard kissed away the tears on Becca’s face, reassuring, "When I’m done, I’ll co to T City to pick you up."
Becca sniffed her reddened nose, "How long will that be?"
"Very soon."
"How many days is ’very soon’?"
"Sweetheart, I can’t give you a definite ti right now, but I promise I won’t let you stay alone in T City for too long."
"But I don’t want to be away from you..." Becca, with a sob, threw herself into Howard’s arms again, holding him tightly, murmuring as if pleading, "I don’t want to be away from you, I don’t want to..."
Knowing that Becca was emotionally upset at this mont, Howard dared not say much more; he could only gently stroke her back, continuously comforting and soothing her.
After a long ti, Becca’s emotions gradually cald down, but her nose was still sniffling.
Howard lifted Becca’s tear-reddened little face, wanting to kiss her, but Becca turned her head away in a huff.
Howard was amused by Becca’s childish deanor, holding her in place and insistently kissing her face, then contentedly said, "Be good, wait for to pick you up."
Not really intending to sulk with Howard, Becca raised her still tear-stained eyes, looked at Howard with reluctance, and obediently nodded.
Seeing Becca’s obedient expression, Howard felt even more love for her, kissing her forehead, he said, "Trust , I won’t ever leave you again."
Becca lowered her eyelashes, still obediently nodding. Just thinking about being apart from him made her heart ache.
Howard said softly, "There’s sothing I need to entrust to you."
Becca lifted her eyes, "All matters of you and in Y City, you can’t tell anyone, including Aunt Clare, including your acquainted ’Doctor Robinson’."
Even though she didn’t understand Howard’s intentions, Becca still nodded, "Okay."
"Also, during this period, I might not be able to call you."
Becca furrowed her brows, "Why?" She had been thinking that even if they were apart, they could at least talk to each other every day, and at least hear each other’s voice.
"Explaining this to you would be a bit complicated, but I’ll explain it to you later... Don’t think about anything else, rember what I entrusted to you. After you return to T City, go about your work as usual until I co to pick you up."
