"No need, thank you for buying dinner... he’s coming to pick up."
"Okay."
"Bye-bye."
After parting with Jonathon, Christine Quinn anxiously took out her phone and dialed Skyler Jones’s number.
The phone rang for a long ti before connecting, and Christine hurriedly said, "Hello... where are you now?"
"Didn’t I tell you? I’m coming ho to fetch you."
"You... you just set off, right?"
"No... I’m already close to the front door."
Upon hearing Skyler’s words, Christine was completely panicked, "But I’m not ho right now!"
"Oh?" Skyler on the other end raised his brow with interest, asking, "Then where are you now?"
"I... I’m at..."
"You are in downtown New York, Queensway, and just parted ways with your old fla Jonathon Gibson a minute ago."
"How... how do you know?"
"Darling, look towards your eleven o’clock."
Christine turned her head towards the direction Skyler referred to in the call, across a distance of tens of ters, yet she precisely fell into his dangerous eyes as dark as endless whirlpools.
The driver got out to open the car door for Christine.
Christine angrily sat inside the vehicle, glaring furiously at soone, "Do you have to play tricks on like this?"
Skyler smiled at her with raised lips, "Your aggressive deanor now doesn’t seem like a woman caught having an affair by her husband on the spot?"
"I just had dinner with him... right, why am I explaining to you?" Disdainfully, she glared at soone and turned her gaze forward.
She had previously arranged to have a al with Jonathon Gibson today... primarily wanting to discuss Hilda’s matters with him.
Unfortunately, he told her this morning that he wanted her to accompany him to an event, and she called Jonathon Gibson.
Jonathon told her on the phone he also had plans today, and the two rescheduled their evening eting to dayti.
That’s why she ended up being with Jonathon.
"I think it’s necessary to remind you, although I’m not globally renowned, New York’s dia are very pleased to post on their front pages... So, I don’t want my next headline to be due to my wife’s misconduct!!"
"When it cos to misconduct, Skyler, I think you should be the first to reflect!!" Christine disdainfully spat out, "Next ti when you spend the night with your lover, please comfort her well; don’t let her leave bright red lipstick marks on your dirty shirt like a victor, making feel utterly ridiculous!"
"Christine Quinn!!"
"I’m not afraid of you, Skyler, if you’re unwilling to maintain peace with , fine, let’s go to Marie now and clarify. I might be seen by Marie as a scheming bad mom, but don’t expect to uphold your great father image to Marie if you’re the one who cheated in marriage!!"
"Christine Quinn!!!" He repeated her na again, indicating his anger was on the verge of eruption.
"No need for you to kick out of the car; I’ll get out myself!!"
With these words, Christine angrily opened the car door and dashed into the streets.
Sitting on a bench by the roadside, Christine covered her aching chest with one hand and wiped away tears from her cheek with the other.
She sobbed, aggrieved, but tried hard not to cry out loud.
Why does he treat her this way?
She’s repaid him everything she owed...
What pains her is herself; why does it hurt because he spent the night with another woman?
That damned man, she cursed him to spend his next life in hell.
Bastard!!
Christine tightly clutched her chest, unable to understand why every ti she confronted Skyler, her heart would ache so intensely.
She’s really useless; if she could truly ignore him, maybe her heart wouldn’t hurt this way...
Tears flowed unchecked from the corners of her eyes, no matter how many tis Christine tried to wipe them away, they continued to fill her clear eyes.
Suddenly, "Screech" —
The sound of brakes echoed in her ears.
Christine hurriedly wiped away all traces of tears from her face, angrily saying, "Don’t expect to see as a joke... I’ll never admit defeat in front of you."
Christine’s voice had barely fallen when there was a deep, magnetic voice in her ear, "It’s , Christine."
Hearing an unexpected voice, Christine quickly looked up, the person who stepped down from the car and stood in front of her was — Howard Geoffrey.
Upon seeing Howard, uncontrollable tears flooded down Christine’s face again.
Howard gently lifted Christine, speaking softly, "I happened to pass by... What happened?"
Christine’s beautiful eyes brimd with tears looked at Howard, suddenly she threw herself into Howard’s arms, aggrieved.
Howard gently embraced her.
Christine leaned on Howard’s broad shoulder, crying out, "Howard, I don’t owe him... I’ve repaid everything I owed him... He let approach you, I did without hesitation, he asked for all the money, knowing well he deceived , I pretended I knew nothing... I tried my best to compensate him, I’ve given him all the best I have in life, but I don’t know how much longer I can endure such days..."
Nightfall ca.
An expensive black car quietly parked at a corner in New York.
The driver glanced at the owner seated in the back via the rearview mirror but dared not make a sound.
Skyler slumped against the back of the chair, completely losing his usual arrogant and self-satisfied deanor.
He contemplated silently, looking lonely as if abandoned by the entire world.
The vibrating sound of the phone rang.
He picked up the phone weakly, his deep black eyes fixating on the number flashing on the screen.
As he casually tossed the phone aside, he unintentionally answered the call.
A crisp and pleasant voice from Jennifer Douglas ca through on the phone, "Congratulations, I heard that ’Oversky’ successfully secured the TSOL project... I want to celebrate with you, no matter how late, I’ll wait for you tonight."
Christine sat leaning against the bed’s headboard, holding a cup of warm water.
