"She didn’t eat anything on the plane. I was afraid she’d be hungry, so I had soone take her to eat."
"Oh."
Saying that, Christine Quinn sat blankly on the chair.
Jonathon Gibson leaned over and looked at Christine Quinn gently, "Are you hungry? Shall I go with you to eat sothing?"
Christine shook her head, "I’m not hungry, you go eat."
"Then I’ll stay here with you."
"Jonathon, no need, you go eat sothing, I just want to be alone for a while."
"Christine, what’s wrong?" Jonathon reached out to touch Christine’s face, only to find her face was ice-cold, as a teardrop overflowed from her eyes. "Christine..."
Christine lowered her head, as if suddenly collapsing emotionally, sobbing out loud, "It’s all my fault, it’s all my fault he’s like this..."
Jonathon hurriedly wiped away the tears at the corner of Christine’s eyes, feeling pained, "Don’t cry... silly girl, how can it be your fault that he got into trouble?"
Christine lifted her tear-filled eyes to look at Jonathon, bitterness spilling out, "When I walked out of the ward, his subordinate told that because of emotional matters, his mood had been bad these days, which is why he got distracted while watching the construction site..."
Jonathon comforted, "You can’t be blad for that either, no one wants accidents to happen..."
"But if I hadn’t rejected him, this accident wouldn’t have happened, I..."
Jonathon gently wiped the tears from Christine’s eyes, "Do you regret it?"
Christine choked up, "I just don’t want to see him like this..."
Jonathon sighed slowly, "Then what do you plan to do?"
"I don’t know... he’s in a bad mood now, unwilling to cooperate with treatnt, saying so negative things..."
"Things like this indeed take so ti to accept... but, will he really be paralyzed?"
"I don’t know... I don’t know... I don’t dare to think about it... I... I can’t accept it..." Christine lowered her head, crying uncontrollably.
Jonathon reached out to embrace Christine, holding her trembling, sobbing body tightly in his arms.
After a long ti, Christine’s mood gradually cald down.
Jonathon gently released Christine, softly asking her, "Feeling better?"
Christine nodded, standing up. "I’m going to see him."
Jonathon slightly furrowed his brows, "Didn’t he say he didn’t want to see you?"
"He was speaking in anger, at this mont, he just doesn’t want to face anyone, but he needs soone to care for him."
Seeing Christine’s anxious look, Jonathon’s gaze dimd, he called lowly, "Christine..."
"We’ll talk later." With that, Christine walked towards Skyler Jones’s ward on her own, not noticing Jonathon’s disappointed expression.
Christine once again disregarded the obstruction of Skyler’s subordinates and walked into the ward.
Tears glimred at the corners of Christine’s eyes, her slightly parted lips trembled, her face was pale, looking more like a patient than Skyler, who was "seriously injured."
"Oversky..."
Christine’s gentle call made Skyler slowly turn his head.
The anger in his eyes from before had disappeared, and Skyler looked at Christine, with "self-bla," his lips finally parting, "Just now... I’m sorry, I spoke harshly."
Christine shook her head, "It’s okay."
Skyler slowly directed his gaze toward the white ceiling, a slightly hoarse voice escaping, "Thank you for coming to see ... Was it Howard Geoffrey who found out?"
"No."
"Then it was Jonathon." He easily guessed.
Christine’s silence indicated her agreent.
"It seems your relationship with him is developing well... This ti, he accompanied you to L.A., right?"
Christine finally nodded.
Noticing her nodding motion with the corner of his eye, Skyler’s gaze dimd as he lowered his eyelids, "Jonathon is indeed good... He has never forgotten you for over ten years, and never considered finding another woman. He has held onto his original love for you, standing by you in your toughest tis, giving you support during your lonely monts... Compared to , he is so much better."
For so reason, his words made her nose sting with emotion, and she couldn’t help but sniffle.
"Choosing him is not wrong... it’s just my fault for not cherishing it in the past, regretting it now is already in vain,"
Tears gathered uncontrollably in Christine’s eyes, she tried hard to stop them from falling.
Skyler stared blankly at the ceiling, foolishly laughing, "Perhaps there really is retribution in this world... If I hadn’t done so many things to wrong you in the past, I wouldn’t be in this situation..."
