"Mommy, where are you sleeping tonight?"
Marie started the conversation during dinner.
Christine Quinn answered, "Where else would I sleep? Of course, I’m sleeping with you."
Marie was shocked, her mouth a round ’O’,"You’re not sleeping with Daddy?"
"Marilyn Quinn, hasn’t Mommy told you that kids shouldn’t ddle in adult affairs?"
"But... Daddy needs soone to take care of him at night. If you’re not with him, who will take care of Daddy?" Marie fearlessly asked another question.
"Marilyn Quinn!!"
Under her mother’s warning gaze, Marie imdiately lowered her head and began shoveling food into her mouth.
Skyler Jones remained silent throughout, yet every move Christine Quinn made was in his line of sight.
After the al, a servant pushed Skyler Jones into his room.
As soon as the servant left, Skyler Jones got up from the wheelchair.
Damn it, today was just a test, and he didn’t expect her reaction to be so intense... She actually ignored him directly at night.
It seems he really overestimated himself; if he wants to win her over, he’ll need patience...
Standing by the floor-to-ceiling window in the room, with his handso face cold and stern, Skyler was pondering a way to make ands when there was a knock on the door.
He sat back in the wheelchair and responded, "Co in."
To Skyler’s surprise, the person who entered was Christine Quinn.
Skyler wheeled over to her, his voice noticeably lowered, "I thought you were still mad at ."
Christine shook her head, "Let’s not talk about it... I’m going to take a shower and rest. If you need anything, call the servant at the door."
"Okay."
With that, Christine turned and left.
Watching Christine’s departing figure, Skyler’s eyes dimd.
Christine entered Marie’s room, wearily leaning against the headboard.
Marie was in the shower, the sound of water rushing in the bathroom.
Christine lay her head on the pillow, her mind restless and her brows furrowed.
She almost fell for it today...
She was useless, unable to resist even a bit of his charm.
The words he said were affectionate and sincere, and she really wanted to trust them, but...

At so point, Marie had finished her shower and ca out of the bathroom in her pajamas.
Christine snapped back to reality, "Hmm?"
Marie climbed onto the bed, tucked herself in, and asked, "You’re really not going to sleep with Daddy tonight?"
Christine propped her cheek on the bed, "When have you ever seen sleep with your Daddy?"
Marie mimicked her mother’s posture, propping her cheek on the bed, "But Daddy’s situation is different now..."
Christine sulked, "Even so, I can’t be taking care of him 24/7! Besides being taken advantage of, who knows what’s on his mind."
"Alright... Then you sleep here. I have to go to school in the morning, so I’m going to sleep first."
"Okay."
Marie lay down imdiately.
The more she thought about it, the more jumbled her mind got, and finally, Christine simply picked up her pajamas and headed to the bathroom.
After her shower, Christine couldn’t help but go to Skyler’s room door.
"Did he call for you?"
Christine asked the servant standing outside the room.
The servant shook her head.
Christine frowned slightly. Logically, he would need soone to help with bathing and sleeping, so why hadn’t he called anyone?
After hesitating in front of the door for a long ti, Christine finally reached out and knocked.
"Co in."
Hearing his response, Christine breathed a sigh of relief.
Gently pushing open the door, Christine walked in.
From a distance, Skyler was sitting by the floor-to-ceiling window, his back looking so lonely and desolate.
"Skyler."
Skyler continued to gaze at the window, speaking calmly, "You’re not asleep yet?"
Christine walked up behind Skyler and replied softly, "I was just about to sleep."
"Go ahead, you must be tired from taking care of all day. Get so rest."
"Aren’t you going to sleep?"
"I want to stay for a little while longer."
"Then call the servant when you want to sleep!"
"Okay."
The sight of Skyler’s back filled Christine with an indescribable sadness. She knew that her change in attitude might have hurt him, but she wanted to soften.
If she softened her heart too much, she’d greedily want more, and she was clear about it: those things she longed for, she’d never get from him.
