"Where are you staying?"
"I’m going to the company, just drop off at the next intersection."
Skyler didn’t say anything further, instructing Justin to drive.
During the drive, Jennifer remained silent, but tears stread down her cheeks as she bit her lip to suppress her sobbing.
Through the rearview mirror, Justin saw Jennifer silently weeping. Feeling a pang of compassion, he refrained from speaking.
Jennifer turned her head towards the window; though her body trembled from the sobs, she refused to let herself cry out loud.
The car finally reached the next intersection...
Justin got out and opened the car door. Jennifer sat in her seat, her cheeks still stained with dried tears.
"Miss Douglas, please..." Justin said.
Jennifer seed to struggle internally for a long while. Finally, she turned to Skyler, and with a choking voice, pleaded, "Oversky, can you help ?"
Skyler’s handso face remained indifferent, his lips tightly pursed.
"The mont they heard ’Nonta’ was having issues, they all rushed to demand paynts from the company at the sa ti... We’ve calculated the company’s funds, and currently, we can only pay the employees... I don’t know what to do, they’ve been causing trouble at the hospital every day, and I can’t stop them. I don’t want them to disturb my daddy. He has a heart condition, and this is the critical mont for his surgery. I’m begging you to help ... Oversky..."
"How could Mr. Douglas with such limited abilities manage the ’Nonta’ Group?" Skyler spoke up, yet his voice carried little emotion.
Jennifer’s sobs escaped uncontrollably. "Daddy’s health has always been poor. He was diagnosed with lung cancer years ago... He kept pushing to marry, hoping to see settle down with kids in his lifeti... Over the past year, if it weren’t for worrying about , he wouldn’t have neglected the company’s matters, giving bad people the opportunity to exploit..."
"Get off the car!"
"Oversky..."
"I will help you."
Jennifer asked incredulously, "Really?"
Skyler replied calmly, "I promised you the proceeds from the TSOL project, so I will inject funds into your company to help ’Nonta’ with its urgent crisis."
Jennifer’s bright eyes gradually dimd. "Thank you." It turned out he only helped her to draw a complete line between them.
"No need to thank . I didn’t help you; I’m rely fulfilling my previous promise."
"I understand."
After saying this, Jennifer took a deep breath, wiped away the tear stains around her eyes, and then got out of the car.
When Skyler returned, Christine was still sweetly asleep in bed.
He sat on the edge of the bed, quietly gazing at her serene sleeping face, a sense of satisfaction and peace on his handso features.
Unable to resist his affection for her, he suddenly lowered his head and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.
Christine was already waking up, and feeling his touch, murmured softly, gradually awakening from her slumber.
"Awake?" he asked with a smile, his magnetic voice tinged with tenderness.
Christine, sleepy-eyed, looked at him for a long ti before suddenly wrapping her arms around his neck. "Seeing you right after waking up feels so good."
Skyler chuckled indulgently and couldn’t resist kissing her again.
Christine glanced outside. The bright sun made her realize it was quite late, and she hurriedly asked, "What ti is it now?"
"A little past ten..."
"Ah!" Christine exclaid, quickly sitting up on the bed. "It’s so late! We need to go to the hospital for the test results!"
Skyler wrapped his arms around Christine, "Don’t worry, I’ve already gone to the hospital."
Christine leaned against Skyler’s shoulder, her heart suddenly in her throat. She weakly asked, "What... what did the doctor say?"
"The doctor said we can love each other until we grow old, walking through this life hand in hand."
Christine quickly pulled away from Skyler, "Are you serious?"
Skyler smiled gently, "Yes."
"I don’t believe it; I want to see the dical record. Show the dical record."
Skyler promptly handed the dical record to Christine.
Christine held her breath as she scanned through all the words on the dical record. Slowly, a smile erged on her face. However, amidst the euphoria, she worriedly asked, "This isn’t the doctor helping you to deceive , is it?"
"Silly, I promised I wouldn’t deceive you anymore about anything."
Christine tossed aside the dical record, joyfully throwing herself into Skyler’s embrace. "I’m so happy, so happy... Oversky, I can’t believe this is all real!"
