The crowd erupted in laughter.
Mrs. Geoffrey suddenly said, "Christine, you have been on the plane for such a long ti; do you want to go back to your room and rest for a while?"
Christine Quinn turned her head toward Skyler Jones, who was gently embracing her, and said warmly, "I’m not very tired. Are you? Why don’t you go back to the room for a rest?"
Skyler Jones shook his head, "I have so things to deal with at the company."
"But you haven’t rested..." Though it sounded like a complaint, it was full of concern for him.
"I’m fine. I’ll be back soon." Skyler Jones kissed Christine Quinn on the cheek.
Christine Quinn nodded lightly, "Go and change your clothes!"
"Okay."
Christine Quinn kept watching Skyler Jones’ figure until soone waved a hand in front of her eyes, "Still watching? Can’t bear to be apart for even a minute?"
Rebecca Quentin’s teasing voice made Christine Quinn snap back to reality. She flushed with embarrassnt, "You’re annoying."
Rebecca Quentin linked her arm around Christine Quinn’s, "Quickly, tell , did your husband give you lots of romantic surprises on this trip?"
Christine Quinn blushed and smiled faintly, "I’ll tell you later."
"Okay, your expression already tells that your relationship with your husband has deepened during this trip."
"Yes."
"Seeing you and Oversky reconcile, I’m now at ease." Mrs. Geoffrey said with relief.
Christine Quinn grabbed Mrs. Geoffrey’s hand and apologized, "I’m sorry, mom, for worrying you about Oversky and ."
Mrs. Geoffrey lovingly patted Christine Quinn’s hand, "Silly girl, what couple doesn’t have argunts? It’s good that you’ve made up, really good."
Christine Quinn smiled gently, "I think Oversky and I will cherish each other more in the future."
Mrs. Geoffrey nodded, "Once Oversky relocates the company to New York, I’ll have him make up a wedding for you, so there’re no regrets between you two."
"Alright."
Inside the spacious business car, a cold and solemn atmosphere filled the air.
No emotions could be discerned from Skyler Jones’ expressionless face, yet there was an unexplainable sense of danger.
At this mont, his subordinate Justin Walter brought Jennifer Douglas to the front of the car.
Jennifer Douglas stared intently at Skyler Jones, fully aware of why he sought her out, but there was no trace of fear in her eyes.
"Get in the car, Miss Douglas." Justin Walter coldly said to Jennifer Douglas.
Jennifer Douglas got into the car and sat beside Skyler Jones.
With her head bowed, Jennifer Douglas spoke slowly, "I know why you’re seeking ... Yes, the intimate photos of Jonathon Gibson and Christine Quinn were taken on my orders. I also anonymously sent the photos to myself."
Skyler Jones glanced forward calmly, seemingly with little emotional fluctuation, "Why did you do it?"
Jennifer Douglas looked at Skyler Jones with sadness, "Because Christine Quinn truly doesn’t deserve you. Although I shalessly took photos of her and Jonathon Gibson, it’s an indisputable fact that she and Jonathon Gibson had a relationship."
"Do you know the consequences of hurting her?" Skyler Jones’ tone remained calm, as if discussing sothing insignificant.
Jennifer Douglas gazed unwaveringly at Skyler Jones’ handso profile, "I know what could happen, but I won’t regret it."
"Alright, get out of the car!"
"Are you planning to send soone to hurt ?"
"No."
"So, you intend to give a fate worse than death?"
Skyler Jones remained silent, his thin lips pressed into a firm line.
Jennifer Douglas stared at Skyler Jones’ handso side profile, suddenly letting out a foolish laugh, "Oversky, I don’t understand why I don’t asure up to Christine Quinn?"
"There’s nothing you can compare to."
Skyler Jones’ rciless words pierced through Jennifer Douglas’ heart like a sword. She clutched her aching chest and said, "It’s not that I don’t asure up to her; it’s just that I t you later than she did."
Skyler Jones still didn’t respond.
Tears slid from Jennifer Douglas’ eyes, seemingly trying to suppress the pain in her heart. She bit her lip tightly until, a long ti later, she opened her mouth again, "I want to ask you a question. Can you answer honestly?"
Skyler Jones’ expression remained indifferent.
"Without the encounter you had with Christine Quinn more than ten years ago, would you have developed feelings for when you t ?" Tears flooded from Jennifer Douglas’ eyes as she looked at him with hopeful yet sorrowful eyes, begging for the answer she desired.
No one expected that at this mont, Skyler Jones would calmly and coldly say, "No."
"No, I don’t believe it..." Jennifer Douglas started shaking her head repeatedly, tears pouring from her eyes in despair, "You’re lying to ... You’re lying to , I know you care about ; it’s just that you have a responsibility toward Christine Quinn..."
"Are you done?" Skyler Jones kept his eyes coldly fixed ahead, "Get out of the car."
"No..." Jennifer Douglas clung tightly to Skyler Jones’ arm, "You said you don’t care about , is that right? Fine..." Inside the vehicle, Justin Walter glanced at Skyler Jones through the rearview mirror, "Mr. Jones, will you go this Saturday?"
"When did you beco so talkative?"
Justin Walter replied in a small voice, "I just feel Miss Douglas is too persistent... She asked you to see her on Saturday just for the answer. If you don’t go, judging by her words, she might take so extre asures..."
Skyler Jones’ lips remained tightly pressed; he did not speak.
