This night’s darkness feels endlessly long.
Zhong Qiaohui didn’t sleep a wink, and of course, neither did anyone else.
Upon hearing so commotion from the road below the hotel, any sound in the silent depth of night could raise suspicion. Indeed, the city is anything but peaceful tonight.
Zhong Qiaohui swiftly moved to the hotel room window overlooking the road below and saw Wei Changqing’s returning car.
"He’s back? So soon?" Surprise was etched not only on Zhong Qiaohui’s face.
Her roommates, Zhan Dapeng and others, shared the sa look of doubt.
In theory, if there was nothing to gain, Wei Changqing should have stayed out with his team until at least dawn. Returning so quickly, sothing must have happened along the way?
Was it an accident?
If there had been results, the first thing to do would be to notify them, the support staff, including doctors, who were all on standby. Going out to greet them would be the right move.
As Zhan Dapeng and others exchanged puzzled glances, Zhong Qiaohui couldn’t help but anxiously bite her lip: "What’s going on? He spoke so lightly when he left, as if he could truly catch them, but ended up being useless, returning empty-handed like this?"
Inside the room, Wei Changqing’s people undoubtedly heard her, causing them to feel anger and stand up.
Zhan Dapeng quickly diated and said to Zhong Qiaohui, "Let’s see what intel they brought back first."
Maybe they acquired so other clues outside, making a return for a reassessnt necessary. That’s the most likely scenario, Zhan Dapeng thought.
Suppressing her temper, Zhong Qiaohui turned her head and saw Zhang Sanfeng’s face, quiet and composed, arousing her doubts: "Why, are you hiding sothing from ?"
Faced with her questioning, Zhang Sanfeng rely turned his wheelchair and moved towards the door.
Zhong Qiaohui frowned at his back and watched as Wei Changqing entered the hotel after getting out of the car. She followed with the intent to find out what the Detective had accomplished.
If it was all bluster, don’t bla Zhong Qiaohui for her unkind words.
Eagerly, she and others waited at the elevator door.
The elevator ascended slowly, and when it reached the floor, the doors opened with a ding.
The crowd saw Wei Changqing inside the elevator.
It was clear that the Detective’s outing hadn’t gone well, visible in the several scratches marking his darkened face.
Zhan Dapeng rushed forward: "Old Liu, you’re injured? Who hit you?"
Wei Changqing didn’t utter a word; his face was not only stormy, but his gaze was fixed downward, as if he was staring intently at so place on the floor, taking it in like it was a mirror.
Zhong Qiaohui wondered what he could see down there, like Sun Wukong’s Eyes of Golden Fla penetrating through to find sothing? Or perhaps he was feeling ashad after finding nothing and had punched himself, wishing to dig a hole and bury himself.
Urgency, genuine urgency.
Zhong Qiaohui didn’t truly want to scold anyone; she was just struggling to manage her emotions, considering it was almost an entire night with no word from Gu Nuan, her fate unknown, which was enough to drive anyone anxious.
"Say sothing!" Zhong Qiaohui raised her voice, disregarding the n’s pride around her, loudly addressing the Detective, "Don’t worry, no one will bla you. Everyone knows you tried your best, gave your all!"
Unknowingly, her words caused Wei Changqing to suddenly tremble.
