Zhao ngjin remained unfazed, pretending not to notice anything.
Ou Chunhua secretly grit her teeth, wishing she could call her a little vixen.
Ou Shihua was sitting at the restaurant with the New Year’s Eve dinner set up, waving to them: "Co over and eat."
The group walked towards the dining table.
Ou Shihua had his son pull out a chair for Zhao ngjin, then smiled at her and said, "Make yourself at ho, after all, soon we’ll be family."
Zhao ngjin was taken aback, not knowing what was going on, unaware of any developnts.
Ou Shihua thought she was pretending, as the matter was sensitive, especially for girls, and continued: "I heard your family is returning to the country tomorrow."
"Yes." Zhao ngjin replied, sitting down.
"My wife and I might be busy tomorrow, and going back and forth, we might only return here on the third day of the new year. I intended to et with your family, your grandparents, your father; I’m really eager to discuss things about you two."
Ou Shihua’s words made Ou Chunhua the most nervous.
Ou Shihua’s gaze seed to subtly pass over his wife’s face as he said: "Don’t be fooled by her silence; inwardly, she’s glad. She dotes on her son the most, after all, he’s her only child. Her son getting married, establishing a career, having grandchildren; that’s her dream."
Zhao ngjin wondered if Ou Chunhua was akin to swallowing a bitter pill silently. It seed the real power in this family was not Ou Chunhua, but Ou Shihua.
"What does uncle want to discuss with my dad?" Zhao ngjin asked.
Ou Shihua replied, "Of course, it’s about the wedding arrangents for you and Yanan."
The entire table fell silent.
Zhao ngjin lightly frowned, glancing at the man sitting opposite.
Ou Yanan showed no reaction either, seemingly unprepared to voice any opposition.
Ou Chunhua interjected, "Isn’t this pushing things a tad fast? Young people these days usually like to get engaged first—"
"Is that so?" Ou Shihua, feeling the atmosphere was stiff, latched onto the comnt to ease the tension, saying, "Getting engaged first is acceptable. With an engagent before marriage, there’s ti for both families to better prepare for the wedding, sothing to consider."
It seed Ou Shihua aid to turn his son’s wedding into a grand spectacle.
Zhao ngjin hadn’t anticipated the grandeur the Ou Family intended.
The Ou Family didn’t seem as affluent as the Xiao Family, and even Xiao Family hadn’t hosted a spectacular wedding.
"Uncle," Zhao ngjin spoke.
Ou Shihua waited expectantly for her to continue.
Zhao ngjin glanced again at the man opposite who showed no intention of speaking up. This man, truly had no plans to stand up for her, behaving like a turtle, frustrating her.
"Whatever needs discussing, have it with my dad. I’m a junior, it’s not my place to decide," Zhao ngjin said with a smile.
Ou Yanan finally lifted his gaze and looked at her face.
"Yes, yes." Ou Shihua was naturally pleased with her response, realizing the young ones were unable to express their desires, leaving the elders to arrange.
At the Ruan Family’s villa, the New Year’s Eve dinner continued.
One sumptuous dish after another was brought to the table.
Xiao Shuju ate heartily, her manner resembling that of a starving ghost.
The old lady saw and couldn’t help but cough a few tis as a reminder.
Xiao Shuju seed to ignore the elderly lady’s coughing, focusing on her own eating.
Xiao Jianming paid no attention to his daughter’s eating manners.
