Lingxin quickly placed his small backpack under his butt and sat upright like a little teacher, issuing orders to his younger brother: "You can only lick once after answering ten math questions correctly."
"Why?" The little monkey pouted unhappily, "Brother, you know I’m not good at studying."
Lingxin’s little face turned serious, speaking earnestly: "Because if you lick the candy, I’m basically covering for you. If dad, mom, or Sister Nala asks, I need an excuse to show them. Wouldn’t you want to lick that candy with confidence?"
The little monkey scratched his small head with his little hand, feeling that his brother’s words seed right.
"Alright, if I get them all correct, give a piece of candy," the little monkey emphasized.
Lingxin smirked: "I always keep my word. Have I ever tricked you? Only Daddy Dabai tricks you, right?"
True enough. Only Daddy Dabai tricks him, never his brother.
The little monkey obediently lay on the desk, opened his arithtic exercise book, and asked: "Brother, do we have a calculator?"
"No."
"What if there are more than ten? My ten fingers won’t be enough to count."
"Find a way yourself," Lingxin replied, as he opened his electronic dictionary to study.
Looking at his brother’s cool little face, cooler than a teacher’s, the little monkey pouted helplessly. He wished he hadn’t been tricked into this. But that candy, he really wanted to lick it.
He sucked back the drool on the corner of his mouth and started using all his fingers to solve the math problems.
Lingxin occasionally glanced over at his brother, who seed full of worry, but his thoughts were occupied with the conversation he overheard between their parents that day. Since the trouble originated with him, he had to fix it himself.
Unbeknownst to them, half an hour flew by, and the adults outside remained busy, completely unaware of the children’s affair inside the room.
The big monkey peeled off the candy wrapper. The little monkey stood on tiptoe, closed his eyes, and carefully extended his little tongue, licking the candy thoroughly from top to bottom.
After he finished, the little monkey was so satisfied that he felt like he could fly off and beco Superman, excitedly running around the room yelling, "Brother, aweso! You have a lick too."
Lingxin simply looked at the completed exercises on the desk. Thoughts of disbelief swirled in his head. He couldn’t believe this little monkey, who usually ssed up counting ten numbers, could suddenly solve problems involving double digits.
It seems twins are indeed twins. His genes were so good, there’s no reason his brother’s aren’t.
After hearing a couple of clicks at the door, Nala pushed it open and saw the little monkey flying around the room, astonished: "What’s got you so happy?"
Hearing soone enter, and it was Nala, the little monkey stood upright and nervously looked at his brother, fearing he could be caught stealing candy. Fortunately, his brother was much smarter and had already hidden the candy back in his backpack.
"What’s the matter?" Nala approached, gently touched the little monkey’s nervous little head and laughed, "Did I turn into a tiger, Mingli?"
"No!" Mingli turned around, shook his head, his candy-licked lips even sweeter, and said, "Sister Nala, you look even prettier."
"Really?" Nala seed unsurprised and said, "Every ti you complint , I get scared. Because it ans you’re hiding sothing from ."
The little monkey’s face almost cried without tears, thankful his brother was clever enough to have prepared an excuse. He confidently showed the exercise book on the desk to Nala: "I just finished these, all correct!"
