Now reading: Chapter 1439: The Grand Finale (25) from Contract Marriage: Billionaire and His Deaf Wife, a Romance novel by Fatty Mom is kind-hearted.

This made Gu Nuan’s dad realize sothing was wrong; his daughter didn’t seem quite right either. He asked, "Nuannuan, can’t you hear talking to you?"

Hearing this, Old Madam Xiao couldn’t help cutting in: "Your daughter’s deaf to begin with, she can’t hear. What’s the point of talking to her like that?"

Gu Nuan tried to steady herself and said to her father, "I just sent him to the supermarket to buy so things. Maybe he suddenly rembered and went to the supermarket. It’s fine, I’ll go out and look for him."

Gu Nuan’s dad had just opened his mouth to tell his daughter there was no need, but she turned and walked off, exactly like his son‑in‑law. That only made the doubt in his heart deepen.

After stepping out the door, Gu Nuan held on to the stair railing as she walked down, her mind in complete chaos.

This sudden situation of not being able to hear anything at all had caught her totally off guard, and she hadn’t yet figured out how to deal with it. Her dad and mom had never known her real condition, but her husband was different. Big White Dog knew about it now, didn’t he? Would he do sothing stupid because of it? A streak of worry gripped her heart.

Gu Nuan walked around in a daze, lost in thought. When she got downstairs, a bicycle ca riding along the sidewalk and rang the bell, shouting at her as she stood in the middle of the road blocking the way. Gu Nuan didn’t hear it, and the speeding bike’s handlebar scraped her as it passed, nearly knocking her off balance.

The cyclist turned back and cursed at her: "Are you deaf? I told you to move and you didn’t hear ?"

Upstairs on the balcony, Gu Nuan’s dad saw this scene down below and was so furious he was about to explode. He quickly turned around and rushed downstairs.

Gu Nuan stood there in a daze, unable to hear any sound around her at all, including the cars and pedestrians passing by. Before, when she hadn’t gone completely deaf yet, she’d never realized how full of hidden dangers the world beca when you couldn’t hear anything. It ant that wherever she went, she could run into danger.

No!

She forced herself to pull it together again. It was okay; plenty of deaf people still managed to live well, and so could she. She had already overco countless difficulties to get to today. But when she turned around, she suddenly felt a wave of dizziness. The sun above her head seed to break into countless stars. She reached out, but failed to grab the lamppost beside her, and with a smack she collapsed to the ground.

When Gu Nuan’s dad ca downstairs and saw this, his soul nearly flew out of his body from fright. As he helped lift his daughter up, he dialed his son‑in‑law’s number: "Yebai, co back, quick! Nuannuan’s fainted!"

When Gu Nuan woke up again, all she saw in front of her was a blur of white, and her nose was filled with that awful sll of hospital disinfectant.

A face was carefully studying her right in front of her. She squinted to see clearly and realized it was Tang Sili’s face.

Tang Sili looked at her; seeing that she was awake, he didn’t speak. He picked up one of her hands. Gu Nuan watched him seem to perform so sort of examination in her palm. Then he put away the instrunt he’d used and slipped it into the pocket of his white coat and walked away.

Seeing his attitude, Gu Nuan opened her mouth, about to say sothing, when she suddenly realized there was soone else beside her. She turned her head and sure enough, saw Yebai standing at her bedside the whole ti. Like Tang Sili, Yebai hadn’t said a word. It was just that the look on his face as he watched her was really ugly. Gu Nuan almost thought he’d co down with so serious illness.

"What’s wrong?" Gu Nuan reached out a hand, trying to touch his, and when she brushed his fingertips she found they were ice cold.

Hearing her speak, Yebai seed to snap back to himself. He tugged her quilt up for her, tucked her hand back under the covers, and still didn’t say a single word.

Outside the ward, Gu Nuan’s dad sat on a bench, completely at a loss.

He’d called his son‑in‑law, but the one who’d raced over and driven mother and daughter to the hospital was Zang Xiaolian. His son‑in‑law hadn’t shown up at all; he had no idea why. That made Gu Nuan’s dad angry. Had this young couple gotten into a fight? Fine, fight if you must, but a man shouldn’t act like this. Your wife’s sick—no matter how bad the fight is, it should be put on hold first.
