Her family was not in this city, and although she had bought an apartnt, it was completely unfurnished, a bare shell, and definitely not fit for imdiate habitation.
"You’re quite thoughtful as a brother," Gu Nuan chid in appropriately.
To act or not to act in front of insiders, she was not sure. But they had agreed, it was a marriage of convenience, and the performance had to be convincing, especially to their own people who shouldn’t suspect a lack of feeling between them. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have taken such care to first find her a place to live as part of the act.
Upon hearing her words, Zang Xiaolian couldn’t help but smile, "It’s great that sister-in-law understands my second brother’s painstaking efforts."
She understood; otherwise, how could the marriage continue?
"You said ’second brother’?"
Zang Xiaolian knew what her question was about and explained, "Second brother and I are sworn brothers. He values enough to let , his junior, stay by his side to learn. Of course, before others, I can’t address him that way. But sister-in-law, you’re not an outsider."
She thought about how complicated his social connections were. A playboy with sworn brothers? Could it be that he had no siblings of his own?
She had heard that there is much strife in wealthy families; once you’re in, it’s like being in the depths of the sea. Gu Nuan was sowhat curious about his family relationships. But there was no need to rush; sooner or later, the truth would reveal itself. After all, the reason he married her was to take her ho for so purpose, wasn’t it?
"We’re here," Zang Xiaolian announced.
By then, Gu Nuan didn’t even have the chance to clarify that she wasn’t fussy about where she lived. Zang Xiaolian directed the driver to enter a residential complex.
It seed that the train station was not far from the city centre. The car had quickly reached its destination, indicating that this residential complex was indeed in a pri location in the heart of the city.
The complex, built along a riverbank, naturally offered great views, with a price per square ter of over seventy or eighty thousand—a typical luxury apartnt price. However, this complex was not a luxury villa by definition; it belonged to high-rise buildings.
Gu Nuan had heard of the place before; as a graduate who planned to settle here and join the white-collar workforce, she knew that this complex was considered high-end apartnts. Those who lived here were usually gold-collar workers from various industries who had not yet settled down.
"What do you think of this place, sister-in-law?" Zang Xiaolian seed quite respectful of her opinion, "Second brother said if you find it too small, he will arrange a larger place for you to live."
Gu Nuan thought that the man had a good understanding of her. She would feel uncomfortable living in a large house, feeling empty and hollow. A small apartnt like this suited her ambitious nature better.
"This place is good. Please thank your brother for ," Gu Nuan said.
"Sister-in-law, you and second brother are married now, no need to be so polite," Zang Xiaolian said with a grin.
Gu Nuan wasn’t embarrassed by his comnt at all.
After being dropped off at the apartnt, Zang Xiaolian handed her the keys and said, "If you find anything missing inside, just call and I’ll send it over right away."
Gu Nuan took the keys, a flicker of puzzlent crossing her face.
"This is your and brother’s apartnt, so I won’t go in," Zang Xiaolian explained and then said goodbye.
Gu Nuan had no choice but to use the key card to open the door to the apartnt.
Inside, the space was not large, just a one-bedroom, one-living room apartnt. The kitchen was an open plan. The decor was very modern, with a minimalist Nordic style, wooden flooring, several log chandeliers, and solid wood furniture. She wasn’t sure if it was arranged by the original owner or if he had soone redo it. Either way, it was quite to her taste.
By ’missing sothing’, Zang Xiaolian probably ant ho appliances.
Gu Nuan checked and found that all the basic appliances were there, except it seed to lack a clothes iron which could be necessary when attending certain events and needing to iron clothes. Seeing that it was getting late, Gu Nuan decided not to return to the university that day. She opened the fridge and discovered it was stocked with food and n’s beer, prompting her to suddenly wonder: Would he co back for dinner?
