"Wait here," Xiao Shui said as she was heading out the door and saw her daughter following.
"Mom, if you and Auntie are both going, what am I supposed to do here?" Zhao ngjin asked.
"You forgot. Your uncle is around here. What if he wants to find us and can’t? Besides, our luggage is all here; soone needs to keep an eye on it."
After Xiao Shui spoke to her daughter, Xiao Shuzhu chid in, pinching Zhao ngjin’s arm and saying, "Don’t worry, we, including your mom, will be back in a few hours. Just wait here, and we’ll be back by tonight."
Is it almost evening? Zhao ngjin looked out the window, noticing the sky growing darker, it was almost dusk, so she said, "Mom, why don’t you and I have dinner before you leave?"
"Are you joking?" "She can take care of herself," Xiao Shui expressed her confidence in her daughter. After saying this, she was the first to head to the door to take the car.
The taxi was called, and it was parked at the doorway.
Seeing Xiao Shui taking the lead, the other two without any ti to argue further with Zhao ngjin, hurried to catch up and get into the car together.
Zhao ngjin watched her mother sit in the front passenger seat of the taxi, with her two aunts in the back, as the taxi took the three of them away from the hotel.
In the blink of an eye, as Zhao ngjin was still trying to process everything, they had all left. A sudden chill washed over her.
If it hadn’t been for the near kidnap attempt in the afternoon, she wouldn’t be feeling as anxious as a rabbit, as startled as if once bitten by a snake, ten years afraid of the ropes. Watching her mother and aunts leave, Zhao ngjin then regretted not having told her mother about her ordeal earlier, which might have served as a warning to them.
The night had fallen. The taxi sped off, carrying the hurried Xiao Shui and the rest, and soon disappeared at the county road junction.
Zhao ngjin thought of chasing after them, but it was impossible, so she turned back to the hotel, thinking that her uncle would definitely find out about this.
That evening, she did not eat dinner.
Uncle Qi, learning that Xiao Shui and the other two had suddenly left the county, did not think of driving to intercept them without firstly consulting Xiao Yebai and the others.
He rushed toward the courtyard where Xiao Yebai and Zhang Sanfeng were enjoying tea and cool air but ran into Gu Nuan as he arrived.
Gu Nuan had just co out from her room, intending to ask Uncle Qi about the arrangents for dinner that night.
"Young madam," Uncle Qi called out, then rembered that they said Gu Nuan could not hear.
Gu Nuan nodded at him, seeing the anxious steps and the slight unease on his face as he approached.
Uncle Qi brushed past her, about to continue walking forward.
Gu Nuan called out from behind him, "Is there trouble in the county?"
This woman, her gaze really sharp, just like an X-ray.
Uncle Qi coughed, turned back, and gestured with his hand, roughly aning that she shouldn’t worry and he would speak more on the matter later.
