With a question in heart, a group of people boarded the elevator and arrived at a hotel room where everyone was gathering.
Upon opening the door, only Zhang Sanfeng was inside for the mont.
Fu Yubo and Sister Yao were suddenly surprised to see a man in a wheelchair, unsure of who he was.
Zhan Dapeng looked back and, seeing Zhong Qiaohui standing motionless at the door, teased her, "Seeing a handso guy and can’t even move your legs?"
However, this teasing did not elicit the sharp-tongued rebuttal usually expected from Zhong Qiaohui.
Zhong Qiaohui’s eyes were fixed on Zhang Sanfeng’s extraordinarily handso facial features, and then, silence lingered.
Everyone could feel that sothing was off with her.
Zhang Sanfeng sat in his wheelchair, focusing on his computer and not even bothering to glance at the newcors as if no one’s arrival mattered to him.
This intimidating aura imdiately made Sister Yao, Fu Yubo, and others dare not speak freely, moving their footsteps on the carpet with utmost caution and sitting where Zhan Dapeng directed them to.
Zhan Dapeng pointed to the water dispenser in the corner and told them to help themselves. At the sa ti, he walked over to where Zhong Qiaohui stood frozen, patting her shoulder and saying, "Aren’t you going to greet soone you know?"
"Do I know him?" Those words were squeezed out of Zhong Qiaohui’s mouth.
The voice, so low that only she and Zhan Dapeng could hear.
Zhan Dapeng raised his eyebrows, aware that her tone was mixed with all sorts of flavors—bitter, spicy, sour, sweet.
When Gu Nuan and her husband were taking a breather in their room, Yebai suddenly alerted her to sothing: Zhong Qiaohui and Zhang Sanfeng knew each other from before.
Gu Nuan was stunned for a mont.
"What, what did you say? They know each other? Why haven’t I ever heard about this?" Gu Nuan pushed Yebai, who imdiately seized the opportunity to flip through a comic book.
"Because before, there was no occasion for them to et," Xiao Yebai replied with composure, "I didn’t expect you to suddenly ask her over. Of course, she ca for work, and we couldn’t say no. It wouldn’t make sense for Zhang Sanfeng to refuse to see her either. We must separate personal matters from professional duties."
But Gu Nuan heard a different implication and pressed, "Are you saying Zhang Sanfeng doesn’t want to see her? Why is that?"
"Haven’t you realized it by now?" Xiao Yebai raised his eyebrows at her.
Of course, Gu Nuan knew what he ant.
He was talking about Zhang Sanfeng’s insecurity due to his disability. This wasn’t only apparent to Gu Nuan but also to her parents.
Zhang Sanfeng thought he was hiding it well in front of others, and perhaps he was successful to an extent; his proud, princely deanor demanded others’ respect. But in front of people from the Gu Family, who were like his own family, his inner world was completely exposed. It should be said that the Gu Family had a unique charm that made everyone involuntarily lower their guard around them.
"What exactly is the relationship between the two of them?" Gu Nuan asked.
Since Yebai had said so much, there had to be more than a simple acquaintance between the two, because it involved special, emotional considerations regarding whether they should et or not.
Xiao Yebai found it difficult to speak of his brother’s secret, but a wife is not an outsider. Thus, Yebai took the opportunity to point at his own face, "Kiss and I’ll tell you."
This kid, does he think he’s playing gas in kindergarten? It’s such a serious matter!
Gu Nuan picked up a pillow and planted a forceful kiss with it on Yebai’s face, saying, "Okay, now tell ."
