When Grandpa Gu and Grandma Gu arrived in the city, of course, the first thing they needed to do was find a place to rest.
The elderly couple, no longer convenient on their feet, couldn’t possibly go out alone, so Aunt Gu had no choice but to accompany them. Aunt Gu’s daughter and son-in-law lived here, but she was reluctant to have the old couple stay in her daughter’s marital ho.
After so hesitation, Aunt Gu suggested that the elderly couple visit cousin Qiu’s place. Cousin Qiu was quite wealthy, wasn’t she? Among them, she should have the most luxurious house.
Aunt Gu played a trick and didn’t ntion that the old couple had co; she only said she had co alone, wanting to catch up and pass so news to cousin Qiu.
Knowing that Aunt Gu’s daughter was married here, cousin Qiu did not suspect anything and, assuming Aunt Gu would stay with her daughter, she gave out her own address.
When Aunt Gu arrived at cousin Qiu’s rented cottage with Grandpa Gu and Grandma Gu, all three were stunned at the sight of cousin Qiu.
"What, you live here?" Grandma Gu’s face expressed utter disbelief as she pointed towards the narrow living room of cousin Qiu’s house.
Grandpa Gu thought they had gone to the wrong place and said, "Whose house are you borrowing to live in? Where is your own house?"
Cousin Qiu, her face lined with frustration, glared at the lying Aunt Gu.
Aunt Gu had not anticipated that cousin Qiu was living so frugally. Wasn’t cousin Qiu’s husband, after all, a big factory boss? How could they be so poor to be living in such a cramped space?
"Humph," cousin Qiu snorted, looking at their astonished faces as if they were country bumpkins visiting the city for the first ti, and said, "You don’t understand, what’s a few million here? In our county, that makes you a rich man, but here, that just makes you white-collar, white-collar! Once you start spending, a few million vanishes in an instant, just like throwing money into water."
Grandpa Gu and Grandma Gu swallowed hard.
Aunt Gu gasped, unable to utter a word.
Her daughter worked here, earning just a few thousand a month, which was already quite good for a woman without a college degree, better than most people back in the county.
But according to cousin Qiu, her daughter’s efforts here amounted to nothing more than poverty. Her son-in-law, though called a boss with an annual inco of a few million, was just white-collar according to cousin Qiu!

"Do you want to stay here?" cousin Qiu blocked her own doorway.
Grandpa Gu, Grandma Gu, and Aunt Gu all sensed the anger in her tone, bewildered.
"Cousin—"
"Don’t call !" cousin Qiu, very angry replied, "Why don’t you go to Gu Nuan’s place? Isn’t her husband the son of a tycoon, wouldn’t they have a place, a mansion for you to stay? Can’t you settle accounts with her? Aren’t you two usually very vocal? She’s so disrespectful, keeping everyone in the dark, acting like a rich kid enjoying her own money, shouldn’t you give her a good lesson?!"
Considering cousin Qiu’s words made a lot of sense. Both Grandpa Gu and Grandma Gu grew very angry.
"I’ve been wanting to teach her a lesson, but I can’t find where she is," Grandpa Gu asserted boldly.
"Right, where is she? Don’t you know? Otherwise, we wouldn’t have co to ask you," Grandma Gu quickly added.
Cousin Qiu, nearly driven to madness by their accusations, retorted sharply, "Can’t you see the terrible place I live in? If she really cared about her cousin, would she let live here? How would I know where she is? You are her grandparents and even you don’t know, how would I?!"
