How scary and true this sentence was. Xiu Mei thought as she sat beside Lu Chen and listened to the person talking about some business-related details. For almost an hour, she desperately tried to ignore Han Min's presence in the room.
The flirty sc.u.m of a man did not even try hiding his flirtatiousness and would always look her way for every minute. Xiu Mei shuddered everytime she catches him staring at her and had to stop the urge from calling the security to have him dragged outside of the building.
The meeting took about almost 2 hours before they finally came to a final decision.
"Lu Corporation won't collaborate with Milano International with this project." Lu Chen announced his decision that surprised Han Min, and the 2 other representatives from Milano International.
On the other hand, Lu Shao and Xiu Mei weren't the least bit surprised to what he said. After all, they sat and listened throughout the presentation.
Milano International and Lu Corporation had been talking about this collaboration project for months. Since Milano International is headquartered in foreign land, they were the ones responsible for laying out the foundation and proposal for the project.
The representatives had presented the estimated numbers needed and they would earn for this project but it fell short of their expectations. Xiu Mei knew that Milano had screwed it up big time. Requesting for the project's expenses to be raised even with the 80% chance of it not being able to produce good results is too much.
For businessmen, taking risks are unavoidable. But blindly attacking was different. Both panies did their research but Milano was trying to push through the project without a valid reason the continuation.
"Mr.Lu, may we ask why?" Han Min asked as the representative director from Milano.
"You presented it yourself. Don't you understand your own numbers?" Lu Chen spoke then he glanced at Xiu Mei signalling her to explain it further.
She realized this and started explaining. "Lu Corporation had agreed to collaborate with Milano International for this project with the promise of good results, and what you have presented to us fell short of what you expected us to give you for the budget. That is why, ending this project would be a better option than going for it."
"But we can still--"
"This meeting is over." Xiu Mei cut him off. The three of them stood up from their seats and walked out of the office.
"Lu Shao, send them off." Lu Chen nonchalantly instructed as they continued to walk to the elevator. Lu Shao replied to him and had paused from walking to follow his orders.
Lu Chen and Xiu Mei made their way to the elevator. Xiu Mei followed behind Lu Chen as he stepped inside the small space when her wrist was grabbed that made her stop.
Turning around, it was Han Min who had grabbed her.
"Listen to me for a little bit." Without waiting for her reply, he tried to drag her away but Xiu Mei put up a fight and tried pulling her hand away from him.
"Mr.Han, what are you trying to do? Let me go."
"Just for a second." Han Min continued on trying to drag her away.
Xiu Mei kept on trying to pull back from his hold.
"Mr.Han, I advise to let me go this instant or else--"
"Lu Shao." A grim voice filled with anger reverberated from the elevator. In an instant, Lu Shao appeared between Xiu Mei and Han Min breaking his hold to her.
"I leave calling the security to you. I don't want him in front of me again." Lu Chen followed up as he stepped by the entrance of the elevator and grabbed Xiu Mei's arm before pulling her to his side.
Being suddenly pulled by her boss, Xiu Mei froze in surprise and wasn't able to react on time. Before she even realized it, she was already in the arms of Lu Chen, his arms around her shoulders.
She had even forgotten the presence of Lu Shao and Han Min that was just in front of them.
Lu Chen look at Xiu Mei for a few seconds before looking back at Han Min again.
"Mr.Han," He gave a smile that was not exactly a smile at Han Min. It was a threatening smile that the emperor CEO often shows to people who persistently tried to get close to him. "I forbid anyone from touching my person."
"M-My person? Are you two...?" Han Min first gave a confuse look at Lu Chen before his eyes widened like he had realized something big. He looked at the two of them in shock.
But Lu Chen didn't honor him any more words and just pressed the close button. As the elevator doors closed,Xiu Mei woke up from her reverie.
She finally understood the words that the emperor CEO had said to Han Min but before she could ask further about it, Lu Chen beat her to it by asking her.
"He was your blind date, wasn't it? The disappointing one." Lu Chen spoke like he wasn't telling her this to ask but it was a plete confirmation that Han Min was the one she was pertaining about from their previous conversation in the office.
Xiu Mei didn't bother hiding it and nodded at his sentence. Lu Chen's smiled in mockery.
"What a waste of your time." He exclaimed. Xiu Mei fell silent and was clueless on how to continue their conversation. She was confused why the emperor CEO of hers was even pursuing this conversation in the first place.
"I've decided."
"...?" Xiu Mei looked up in confusion at Lu Chen once again who was smiling at his reflection in the elevator doors.
"Xiu Mei."
Xiu Mei's heart jumped in shock upon hearing her name being spoken from Lu Chen's mouth. Even from before, Lu Chen had always called her by her surname Ms.Xiu when pared to Lu Shao who was his personal secretary.
This fact, she understood. Lu Chen trusted her with his business empire but if we pared it to the trust that he have with Lu Shao, it was a pletely different matter. Unconsciously, she was anxious about it but the only thing she could do was to continue working hard and gain his trust.
That was why she was taken in surprise when Lu Chen called her by her full name.
Lu Chen finally turned to look at her straight in her face. His face full of resolution and she was even more confused to what he had decided.
"Marry me."
