The sedan car charged forward with unstoppable montum, colliding with the truck ahead.

However, the expected sound of impact did not occur; most of the sedan disintegrated on the spot, with the remainder being crushed underneath the truck.

Around them were bamboo and wooden strips scattered everywhere, along with colorful paper fluttering in the air.

This car, it was actually made of paper!

Uncle Qin swiftly took a side step, taking Li Zhiyuan up the steps as the truck passed by in front of them; it was apparent that the driver inside the cabin was also rubbing his eyes vigorously, constantly checking the rearview mirror.

He too seed to feel like he had hit sothing earlier and was doubting if he had been hallucinating due to tired driving.

Uncle Qin set Li Zhiyuan down, and Li Zhiyuan took a deep breath and asked, "Uncle, what kind of car were we just in?"

"The one you’ve seen before, we have one on the first floor at ho."

"But..." Li Zhiyuan looked around, then back at the hospital building, "Have we really arrived at People’s Hospital?"

"We have."

Li Zhiyuan instinctively reached out to touch Uncle Qin’s arm; he couldn’t quite discern if the Uncle Qin before his eyes was real or fake, worried Uncle Qin might be unable to support a soy sauce bottle again this ti.

Uncle Qin pointed ahead with his hand, "The hospital entrance is right there, aren’t we going in?"

"But have we really arrived?" Li Zhiyuan still didn’t understand.

"What else?"

"How did we do it?"

Li Zhiyuan frowned, he could understand paper figurines coming to life, he could understand the bizarre happenings in dreams, he could even understand personally experiencing a ride in a paper-made car.

But what he couldn’t fathom was actually riding in a paper car from Si Yuan Village to the city!

Uncle Qin gently patted Li Zhiyuan’s shoulder and said, "She carried us here on her back."

"Ah?"

Uncle Qin seed to have no intention of continuing the explanation, "Let’s go in. If we dawdle any longer, your big friend might just die."

"Oh, right."

Li Zhiyuan put aside his thoughts and walked into the hospital with Uncle Qin. At this hour, they should start by asking at the ergency departnt.

But at the steps below the building, Li Zhiyuan spotted the female driver from earlier, wearing the sa clothes and with wavy curls.

The woman was holding paperwork or a test report, and was looking around anxiously, intermittently pulling on dical staff passing by to ask questions.

More important was the fact that she didn’t seem to recognize either one of them, even as they approached her so closely, she had no reaction whatsoever.

"Uncle, is she alive?"

"Hmm."

Li Zhiyuan stepped forward and asked, "Auntie, may I know where Xue Liangliang is right now?"

"Kid, who are you?"

"My na is Li Zhiyuan. I was asked to co by Director Luo."

"Director Luo... I just arranged for a car to leave not too long ago, did you co here by yourselves?"

"Yep."

"Alright, I’ll take you up there first."

The woman led Li Zhiyuan and Uncle Qin upstairs, and during their brief exchange, Li Zhiyuan learned that although Xue Liangliang had just finished being resuscitated, his condition was very bad, with all his organs at risk of failing.

In the ward, Luo Tingrui was standing beside Xue Liangliang’s bed, looking anxiously at him.

He truly didn’t know why just a sway of the boat, falling into the water, and being rescued quickly could have led to this situation.

At this mont, Xue Liangliang’s face was pale, and he was talking nonsense:

"No, no, no, I don’t want to stay here, I don’t want to be a live-in son-in-law, don’t want to be a live-in son-in-law."

Luo Tingrui adjusted his glasses; he didn’t understand why Liangliang would say such things in his delirium.

He hadn’t even introduced his daughter to him, and he had no interest in recruiting a live-in son-in-law, so who was pressuring him?

But then, who could pressure him?

Luo Tingrui knew about Xue Liangliang’s situation at school, the young man was quite good at making money, and he wasn’t planning on staying at the university or even locally, he was dead set on going to the Southwest to work on construction projects after graduation.

Honestly, with the status of a distinguished graduate from Haihe University, combined with the job conditions and work environnt in the Southwest, if you were willing to go there, you would be overjoyed, there would be no need for backdoor connections.

But the current nonsensical talk, incomprehensible as it was, at least made sense, earlier Xue Liangliang had been babbling:

"Don’t lock up, don’t hit , don’t strangle , I feel so bad, I feel so bad, please, let go, stop torturing ..."

At that ti, Luo Tingrui even began to suspect whether Xue Liangliang had experienced so inhumane torture during his childhood, leaving a shadow behind.

The door to the ward opened, Li Zhiyuan led Uncle Qin inside; Luo Tingrui nodded at Li Zhiyuan, but his gaze focused more on Uncle Qin.

It was normal to ignore the child, as in his heart, he guessed that the assistance would likely co from this middle-aged man.

The doctors had already indicated they had done their best; now they could only passively continue observing with the monitoring equipnt, and if the vital signs deteriorated further, it would be hard to turn the situation around.

Luo Tingrui wasn’t a superstitious person, but given Zhao Hequan who was still in the hospital, and the events that happened to Xue Liangliang previously, he had reasons to suspect that the ordeal caused by that statue was not yet over.

"You can go out first."

"Yes, Director." The woman was dismissed from the ward by Luo Tingrui.

Following that, Luo Tingrui pointed at himself and asked, "Should I leave as well?"

Uncle Qin did not reply, but instead walked straight to the other side of the bed and placed his hand on Xue Liangliang’s forehead, gently massaging it.

Soon, cold sweat started to bead on Xue Liangliang’s face, and there was so much of it that the pillow quickly beca drenched.
