The main family waved their hand in refusal of accepting money, claiming it was all worthless stuff; she could use it and would just retrieve it from the old Zheng family in a couple of days.

Yin ng ladled her own homade dishes into a jar, then left so money before leaving.

Back at the old Zheng house, she stored the jar and the fertilizer bags under the bed.

At dusk.

Yin ng stood by the window beside the stairs on the second floor, watching the three mbers of the Zheng family return ho one by one.

Each person carried a fertilizer bag on their shoulder, but they were visibly much smaller.

Night fell, and Zheng Jiayi, who should have been sleeping, sat in front of the dressing table in her chair, afraid to go to bed.

"Go to bed and sleep."

"ng ng, I’m not sleepy."

"Listen to ."

"Okay, fine."

Zheng Jiayi got into bed, her arms wrapped around her knees, unable to lie down as she thought about the big bag of rats under the bed.

"ng ng, aren’t you coming to sleep?"

"I’ll be there in a bit."

Yin ng stood at the door.

Deep into the night.

Again, the sound of gnawing echoed from outside; in the old Zheng house, it was alti.

This ti, however, the sound didn’t last long.

Yin ng walked back to the bedside and sat down.

She didn’t pretend to be asleep, yet even so, an eye appeared between the gaps of the ceiling beams above, eyes also erged from the walls, and in the circular hole in the floor, eyeballs were rolling about.

The family of three, like geckos, clung and peeled off, doing all they could to peek inside.

This ti, perhaps out of hunger, they were not satisfied and began to bite and pry with their teeth and hands, attempting to expand the gaps for better peeping.

"ng ng, what’s that noise?"

"Don’t worry about it."

Soon, they were no longer satisfied with just that and beca more direct; the door began to be pushed, and the voices of the uncle, aunt, and Da Qiang ca one after another:

"Jiayi, honey, open the door, your aunt has sothing to say to you."

"Jiayi, open the door, your uncle wants to relay a few words to your dad."

"Sister Jiayi, do you rember when we played together as kids after you ca ho from visiting the graves?"

Zheng Jiayi did not open the door; this ti, she directly felt sothing was wrong.

"ng ng, what’s happening with my uncle’s family?"

"Didn’t you hear them?"

"They, they won’t be hard, will they?"

"They’re fine."

"Phew..." Zheng Jiayi breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.

"They had already died a long ti ago."

Zheng Jiayi: "..."

"If you don’t want your parents to end up like them, help pull the jar out from under the bed."

"Okay!"

Zheng Jiayi got out of bed, and with a great effort, she pulled out the jar.

Yin ng then untied the fertilizer bag, taking a spoon to ladle the dishes she had made from the jar into the bag, spoon by spoon.

The mice in the bag were enjoying their al.

Finally, after all the dishes from the jar had been scooped into it, the pushing on the door turned into banging.

The furniture blocking the door could hardly hold any longer.

"Get on the bed."

"Okay."

Zheng Jiayi obediently returned to the bed.

"Bang!"

The room door was pushed open, and standing at the door was only Da Qiang.

Zheng Jiayi held the blanket in front of herself, "Big brother Da Qiang... you..."

"Sister Jiayi, why didn’t you open the door just now?"

After Zheng Daqiang spoke, he turned around, and surprisingly, his mother was behind him:

"Jiayi, you’re not being good, letting your aunt knock on the door for so long."

Zheng Daqiang turned his body back again, reached up, and tore off the skin on his own face, revealing the uncle’s face:

"Jiayi, you made your uncle wait for so long."

Yin ng had long noticed the strangeness of this family of three; no wonder they only appeared individually, never in pairs, and certainly not in a family group.

This was because only one person could maintain a state resembling that of a living human, while the remaining two were like leather coats.

That’s why when they spoke inside the house, they did so close to the door, and when eating mice, they were also near the door because at that mont, they themselves were like a piece of clothing, hung behind the door.

Watching Zheng Daqiang’s actions, it was literally tearing off a face in the true sense.

Yin ng was relieved inside; this ant she didn’t need to continue restraining herself and could move freely.

She raised her foot and knocked over the fertilizer bag.

Suddenly, the mice that had just had their snack burst out all at once, scattering around on the floor.

This ti, Zheng Jiayi didn’t scream since she had just seen a more horrifying scene; compared to that, the mice weren’t much of a deal now.

The two human skins in front and behind the uncle peeled off, like two paper figures, grabbing the mice on the floor to eat.

The uncle even kneeled on the floor, arms wrapped around to bring the mice in front of him, then buried his whole face down to start eating.

Upon closer inspection, one could notice that the eyes of these mice had changed color, and so had patches on their bellies or tails.

They were enjoying their al very much, and while relishing the taste, they occasionally looked up at the two on the bed, as if hinting silently that once they finished their al, it would be their turn.

Yin ng quietly waited; for the first ti, she felt excited about her cooking skills.

"Ah!"

At this mont, Zheng Daqiang couldn’t take it anymore; his thinly layered body began to distort, and the amount of contortion grew so intense that it started to knot up.

His mother was the sa, her body already twisted into a twist.

Even in such a state, they continued to exert force twisting their bodies until finally, only the sound of skin cracking was heard, and the two, like popped balloons, exploded into a plethora of pieces.

The uncle was stunned, as he was covered in his wife and son.

At this point, he also started to react, his body convulsing, and his mouth stretched open to an exaggerated extent, as if that wasn’t enough, he even reached out to grab his upper and lower lips, beginning to exert force.
