Fatty frowned and glanced at Jiasier, cursing, "Are you out of your mind? A platoon of ragtag chas against an elite armored group of the Desic Empire? Even a Level 3 position won’t hold for an hour! Never mind you digging a few holes here! Fifteen minutes!" Fatty raised one finger, very assuredly saying, "You’ll be done!"
Jiasier didn’t know that Fatty said fifteen minutes to avoid hurting their confidence and to keep up morale. In reality, Fatty estimated that the enemy would break through the blockade in just three minutes and wipe out the entire platoon in no more than ten minutes! Though Jiasier was a bit dissatisfied with the fifteen-minute estimate, he didn’t doubt Fatty’s judgnt one bit. When it ca to ambushes or rear attacks, this Fatty had written a book about it. Was there anything he didn’t understand? He couldn’t help but ask hurriedly, "Then what should we do?"
Fatty looked at the few transport-type chas in the center of the team. He knew Ann Lei must be looking this way. After thinking for a mont, he said to Jiasier, "In your earlier idea, there was one point worth considering... guerrilla harassnt!" The armor cover on the chanical arm of [Logic]’s right hand slid open, and a cha sniper rifle rose up. Fatty’s voice was trembling yet sowhat firm: "But the only one who can do that... is !"
When he said this, not only Jiasier was stunned, but even Bonnie, who had been disdainfully and contemptuously silent with her mouth sealed, widened her eyes. One person to pin down an elite cha group? This Fatty was crazy!
"Now, the entire team is under your command. Rember, don’t think about coming back to help . You must break away quickly. After entering the mountains, disperse every ten kiloters. One to ten, ten to a hundred, let them chase blindly! When you finally regroup, you must move in a zigzag pattern. The warriors responsible for luring the enemy should not approach the rendezvous point. The farther away, the better. Once out of the forest, scatter in all directions and find chances to return to the Freedom Front yourselves."
"What about you?"
"Don’t worry about !" Fatty said with a souring heart, choking: "If I die, rember to tell Ann Lei that I don’t mind if she stays a widow for ."
Upon hearing this, whatever little bit of respect Bonnie had for Fatty was imdiately thrown away. She secretly cursed in her heart, "Selfish, despicable Fatty, what a scumbag!"
"Rember, Jas must not fall into the enemy’s hands. If necessary, kill him with a shot!" Fatty turned to look at Bonnie: "This woman is too dangerous. Bringing her back to the Federation wouldn’t be useful. I wouldn’t be at ease with you carrying her. Anyway, I need a burial companion. She looks good enough, so let it be her!"
Bonnie kicked around frantically, wishing she could tear off Fatty’s flesh and skin!
Handing over the bound and unconscious Jas and the Albert’s encryption machine dismantled from [Logic], Fatty gave Jiasier his final instructions: "Major Ann Lei has the contact list and codes. Protect her at all costs. Only she can lead you and the prisoners back to the Federation. Jas can die; Ann Lei cannot! Once you reach the rendezvous point, use the encryption machine to contact the base. Only through the Federation’s interstellar two-way long-range signal station can you connect to the Federation. As soon as the Federation sends people or ships, go imdiately! Understand?"
"Understood! Sir!" Jiasier listened to Fatty’s last words like a will, saluting with a slightly wet gaze.
"Damn it, don’t call sir. I’ve been discharged!" Fatty forced a smile: "Don’t worry about . If I’m lucky, I might get to the rendezvous before you! After this mission, I can retire, drink a little wine, play so cards at ho, brag about my glorious exploits to so beauties, flip over a small hooligan in one move, and smack anyone who dares to bully . How free that would be?"
Returning a salute, Fatty waved his hand and said, "Go on now. If Ann Lei doesn’t listen, tie her up."
Jiasier nodded, saluted again, and turned to leave.
Turning his head, he noticed so commotion in the team behind him. Ann Lei’s voice was panicked and anxious. Fatty resisted the urge to look. After a long while, Ann Lei’s voice disappeared. Jiasier must have taken action. The whole team moved in a collective chanical sound. Fatty didn’t need to look to know that everyone was saying their farewells to the departed.
As the team marched away, the jungle quieted down again. The noon sunlight shone straight down, illuminating the gaps between the leaves brilliantly like shattered neon lights. The snow mixed with ash piled on the ground and trees, scattered here and there like the spots of a cow. The humidity in the jungle rose in the sunlight, creating a thin mist like gauze, making the dry yellow branches and leaves around appear sowhat surreal and less real.
Tian Xingjian stared blankly at the Desic cha Force through the long-range viewer. He didn’t know if he would survive the pursuit after today. What he did know, however, was that he had to hold off this force for six whole hours!
Fatty piloted [Logic] to sneak behind a rock. This spot offered a clear view and was well hidden, making it a perfect sniping point. He slowly sat down, started the chanical computer, and began automatic cha diagnostics. This was the only thing he could do during this period. He didn’t want to die from cha malfunctions at the crucial mont.
Then began the excruciating wait.
Still tied to the wall of the cha cockpit, Bonnie quietly watched Tian Xingjian. Her eyes were complex. Among the anger and hatred, there was a trace of admiration.
