Inside the trial hall, the head examiner watched the ti, pacing back and forth anxiously.

Because the information transmitted to him from the fantasy room still showed that Trainee No. 4 was currently still in the second stage scenario.

Only the final two minutes remained.

If he hadn't left the second stage by then, he would be directly teleported out of the fantasy room, which would an failing the assessnt.

"What exactly is he dawdling about?!"

He was extrely agitated.

Just as he was burning with anxiety, suddenly, one side of the hall's wall began to ripple slowly like waves on water.

The head examiner frowned, watching his subordinate quickly enter from outside, and said:

"What's going on? Don't you know the rules? During the fantasy room assessnt period, except for the head examiner and trainees, no one is allowed to enter without permission?!"

The guard glanced at the few trainees nearby.

Then he quickly walked up to the head examiner and whispered a few words in his ear.

After hearing his words, the head examiner's expression imdiately changed.

An Eighth-Level Veteran?!

How was this possible?

"Hurry! Quickly invite that senior inside."

He imdiately rushed forward anxiously.

Such figures numbered no more than twenty in their entire City of Night—what kind of matter could possibly disturb such a person's presence?!

You should know.

Such figures were only dispatched by the Matriarch when extrely difficult-to-handle incidents occurred in certain regions of the Dark World.

Usually, they were as elusive as dragons—seen only at the beginning, never at the end.

Forget about eting one.

So Night Doctors might go their entire lives without encountering a Veteran above the eighth level.

"Instructor, did sothing happen?"

The trainees asked with bewildered expressions.

The head examiner straightened his posture and said gravely, "A major figure has arrived. All of you must show proper respect later. This is an Eighth-Level Veteran, one of the most top-tier Night Doctors in our City of Night. Being able to see him is an enormous stroke of luck for all of you!"

As these words fell, the surrounding trainees all looked shocked.

They imdiately ford a line, not daring to be negligent.

One of the most top-tier Night Doctors in the City of Night?!

This...

How was this possible!

Why would such an existence co to their trainee Night Doctor trial hall?!

Was he here to inspect their work?

But judging by the instructor's expression, he clearly seed surprised too.

Then what exactly...

They didn't have to wait long. After about ten seconds, ripples leading to the outside revealed one tall figure after another wearing leather coats and plague doctor masks.

The Night Doctor leading them had graying hair, a resolute face, and carried an aura that was both approachable yet naturally authoritative.

When they saw the cross on his chest, the surrounding trainees were all stunned.

Could it be...

This was the Eighth-Level Veteran ntioned by the instructor?!

A mber of the Human Race?!

This was unexpected, because in this Dark World, creatures from the surface world like the Human Race were absolutely at the bottom of the food chain.

But obviously, humans who could fight their way through the Dark World were without exception all formidable individuals with extrely strong capabilities.

They held their breath, not daring to say a word.

"Greetings, Senior. I am the Ferryman, head examiner for this assessnt. Please give your instructions!"

The head examiner stood straight and saluted the middle-aged man respectfully.

The middle-aged man waved his hand and looked up, saying:

"Which trainee is currently undergoing assessnt? Is he still in the fantasy room?"

The head examiner stood at attention and reported loudly, "Reporting, Senior! The trainee currently undergoing assessnt is Trainee No. 4, codena Good Doctor, a young man from the Human Race. He is still in the second stage, but the ti..."

"Only less than two minutes remain."

Cold sweat already covered his back because the aura emanating from the senior before him was too powerful.

That kind of aura developed from surviving countless difficult predicants simply couldn't be concealed.

With just one glance he knew.

This senior was undoubtedly a true Veteran who had experienced countless storms and tribulations to reach his current position.

But.

Why would such a person co here?

Was he looking for Trainee No. 4?

That Trainee No. 4 was also from the Human Race—could it be...

His heart shook, vaguely forming so baseless connections.

"Open the projection. I want to see his current progress."

The middle-aged man looked up and said.

The head examiner didn't dare delay, imdiately using his authority to connect to the fantasy room.

A screen slowly appeared before them, showing nothing but white light.

The head examiner carefully observed the senior's expression and reminded in a low voice:

"Reporting, Senior. Starting from ten minutes ago, the fantasy room has been occupied by this white light. I'm not entirely clear about the specific reason, only that it seems to be so ability of that young man."

"He is still inside the fantasy room."

The middle-aged man said nothing, rely looking up and gazing intently at the overwhelming white light.

Though no one noticed, his hands beneath his sleeves slowly clenched nervously.

Ti passed slowly.

The entire hall fell into complete silence.

Everyone stood straight, secretly watching the senior's expression, not daring to breathe loudly.

And finally.

Just as only the last ten seconds remained.

The white light in the screen finally receded like a tide.

"The white light has disappeared!"

The vampire couldn't help but say urgently.

And everyone's gaze imdiately fell upon the screen.

...

Classroom.

Accompanied by a strong wave of dizziness, Lynn suddenly opened his eyes.

Had he failed?

Perhaps so.

Because this was almost a one hundred percent predictable outco...

Although Echoes of the Past could recreate the past, how could it possibly rewrite reality?

Because... it really was just a script, an image. Even if he used Echoes of the Past, he probably couldn't change anything.

Even slightly making up for the regrets in his heart would be a luxury.

Lynn took a deep breath and finally slowly withdrew his hand.

His vision, shrouded in white light, gradually recovered.

The scene before Lynn's eyes slowly beca clear.

But just at that mont.

He froze.

...

A gentle breeze whistled in through the window, as if carrying the warmth of sumr sunshine.

Amidst the rustling of fluttering curtains ca the clear ringing of class bells.

He sat at his desk, lifted his head, his vision slightly dazed.

As if he had suddenly returned to the classrooms of the past.

The crisp ringing of the dismissal bell.

Then laughing students quickly poured out of the classroom one after another, his ears echoing with the cheerful chatter of students in small groups, while he sat at his desk, staring blankly at this scene.

He stood up.

Staring dumbfounded at everything.

Outside the window was no longer the previous pitch blackness, but blue skies and warm sunshine.

The classroom was no longer burning, and the clock had returned to normal.

In an instant.

It felt as if an eternity had passed, making everything here seem so unreal.

"Is this... Echoes of the Past?"

He murmured, looking at his hand.

He almost instinctively looked toward the window-side seat in the second row.

In the undulating breeze from the window, he saw the familiar girl's back. A smile graced her face as she rested her chin on one hand, gazing out at the blue sky outside.

The breeze from the window swept in, gently lifting her hair.

Lynn moved his lips, but couldn't utter a single word.

"Thank you."

A voice reached his ears.
