And finally, just a few minutes later.

Lynn sat in his wheelchair in front of a hospital room, his expression solemn, his body uncharacteristically stiff from nervousness.

Zuo Zuo lifted a hand and glanced at the door and window, but because a curtain hung inside, she couldn’t see what was happening within.

But Zuo Zuo knew.

Miss Puppet was temporarily settled in this ward.

Watching Lynn remain motionless for a long while, Zuo Zuo hesitantly raised her hand and looked at Lynn’s cheek, saying:

"Brain, aren’t you going to go in and take a look…"

But before she could finish, she suddenly jolted as she saw the madness that kept spreading in Lynn’s eyes, her entire expression twisting into sothing ugly and feral.

Zuo Zuo was instantly terrified.

"Brain, what’s wrong with you?!"

Hearing Zuo Zuo’s voice, Lynn froze for a mont, a sliver of clarity slowly returning to his eyes. He refocused on Zuo Zuo, cocked his head and said:

"What’s up?"

Zuo Zuo mumbled, bewildered, "Brain, you suddenly looked so scary just now, like… like you’d gone insane…"

Lynn paused, then imdiately rembered the five curses still inside him.

He said in a low voice, "It should be the curse from that book, The Book That Drives One Mad—its curse is starting to act up. It feels a bit overwhelming. If what you said earlier was true, I didn’t react at all."

That made him recall the Crying Clown’s episodes.

Those insidious curses that gradually twist a person’s mind were the most dangerous.

Without hesitation.

Lynn suddenly stretched out his hand, white light surging, and pressed it against his chest.

[Beep! You are activating the Limited-Ti Curse Removal Ability on your internal 'Madness Curse'. Do you want to apply the effect imdiately?]

"Yes!"

With the light’s abrupt contraction, strands of black lines were once again peeled out of his body.

His consciousness instantly lightened, and he took a deep breath.

"Is it cleared? Brain." Zuo Zuo asked, eyes watery.

Lynn wiped the sweat off his forehead and said seriously, "Mm, the two most dangerous curses are temporarily suppressed, but besides the Clown curse I still have four other curses. Two of them are gone now, and the four that remained were mutually constraining each other, so that effect has also been greatly weakened. Fortunately, even if they flare up violently, their impact won’t be as terrible as those two."

[Wriggling Curse]: Sounds fun, not really harmful, actually lets you openly do things you normally wouldn’t dare to do.

[Sleepiness Curse]: Yeah, narcolepsy. Not a big deal, a must-have for a salted fish.

[Maniacal Laughter Curse]: Hehehehehe—

[Lewd Curse]: Do I have it? Do I? Did I get this curse? I don’t think so, right? If not, then I shouldn’t waste my last Curse Removal ability on it! Right?!

After sorting through the effects of the curses inside him, Lynn thought for a mont, then lifted his head to look at the ward door before him.

Miss Puppet.

The image of that silhouette drifting past amid falling shells imdiately surfaced in his mind.

His gaze grew complicated.

Although he knew Miss Puppet was rely steadfastly fulfilling her contract with him, that she still treated herself as a cursed puppet who must act strictly according to orders, that she was just carrying out the duties she had to complete…

Even knowing all that,

Lynn’s heart was filled with gratitude and guilt toward her.

Because humans,

no matter how rational, are ultimately emotional creatures.

And it was precisely her throwing herself into life-or-death danger without hesitation that left Lynn unsure how to face Miss Puppet.

After all, before this,

he used to tease Miss Puppet whenever he was bored. Now that he thought about it, he felt deeply ashad.

Lynn took a few deep breaths.

He put on a solemn expression.

Then he finally reached out and nervously grasped the door handle.

Open it!

But should he fling the door open and burst in shouting "surprise~!!"?

Or should he wear a heavy, conflicted expression and solemnly check on Miss Puppet?

What a damn dilemma!

Zuo Zuo watched the flickering hesitation on Lynn’s face. A big "╬" popped up on the back of her hand, and tapping the wheelchair with her finger, she grew extrely impatient.

Why was Brain—who acted like a social god around everyone else—suddenly a wimp when visiting Miss Puppet?

So wishy-washy.

"Hey, are you going or not? You’ve been standing here for five minutes! This isn’t like your arrogant self!" Zuo Zuo snapped.

Lynn’s expression wavered, "Just a mont longer, I’m considering how to enter, I think I should—"

But even before he could finish his sentence,

Zuo Zuo slamd her finger down with a "pat" onto the red button on the wheelchair’s armrest that represented acceleration and forward movent.

In an instant.

Lynn hadn’t yet reacted.

The wheelchair underneath him kicked into an unimaginable burst of speed, whooshing straight toward the ward door. Because it was moving so fast, Lynn was shockingly flung through the door.

"Holy—!!"

The door split open in an instant.

The wheelchair crashed onto the threshold, and due to inertia, Lynn’s body catapulted forward like a slingshot and flew out.

And in that mont as he flew, he finally saw Miss Puppet inside the ward.

She was sitting by the bedside, expression calm, long wet silver hair spread behind her, one severed arm wrapped with insulating tape to prevent leakage, her hospital gown half on. Because she was turned slightly away from the door, Lynn could clearly see the eerie cursed-patterns on her pale back.

Obviously, Lynn had burst in just after she had woken up.

Her gothic dress had been badly burned earlier. After being scrubbed, droplets still clung to her body, and the half-donned hospital gown was soaked, revealing scenes that absolutely should not be seen.

Having heard the commotion, Miss Puppet imdiately turned her head.

Then she saw that familiar terrible figure flying accurately toward her in midair!

For a mont, ti seed to slow.

"Miss Puppet!! Dodge now!!"

Lynn shouted desperately.

But it was too late.

In almost the blink of an eye, Lynn’s body followed a near-perfect parabolic arc and crashed directly onto Hei Xianyue, accompanied by a trendous impact.

Boom—

The hospital bed instantly collapsed under that massive collision.
