The mont that will descended upon the hall, both Michael and Gabriel hurriedly folded away their angelic wings, dropping to one knee with joy written across their faces.
Standing at the very front, however, Ryo frowned in surprise.
'This presence... not the fake God Algol has been impersonating... the real one?'
Of course, Ryo already knew that the "God" directing the angels to gather treasures over the past few centuries had actually been Algol in disguise.
But now, before he had even touched the system core, the true God's will had awakened on its own.
What did that an?
It ant God likely hadn't been inactive at all. The ruler worshipped by the Church may have been silently observing the world the entire ti, perhaps even watching every move Algol made with the system.
That was terrifying. At the very least, it proved this God couldn't be judged by the standards of an ordinary four-digit being.
Leaving combat ability aside, God clearly possessed countless strange and miraculous powers.
Just as Ryo was lost in thought, a gentle voice echoed out from the direction of the system core.
"You've worked hard, Michael, Gabriel. But for now, I must ask you both to step outside."
"My Lord...!"
Michael burst into tears on the spot, overco with joy.
Gabriel was equally emotional. She began softly singing a holy hymn, repenting for the doubts she had once harbored.
She could feel it. Her gentle and kind God had returned.
"You two..." the voice sighed softly, the tone filled with emotion as it reverberated through the hall.
"We obey Your will."
Gabriel recovered first. Rising to her feet, she respectfully withdrew from the hall.
Michael opened his mouth as if he wanted to say sothing, but in the end he simply stood, ignored the tears still clinging to his eyes, bowed deeply, and followed her out.
Soon, only Ryo remained in the great hall, facing the lingering will of God alone.
Seeing this, Ryo shook his head slightly. He understood that God wanted to hide certain matters from the angels, but personally, he felt it wasn't really necessary.
If the negotiations succeeded, everyone here would beco part of Arcadia. At that point, secrecy wouldn't matter much anyway. Still, if God preferred it this way, he had no objections.
At that mont, the increasingly active will spread through the air and spoke to him. "Welco to my ho, traveler from another world."
"We're seriously going to talk like this?"
Ryo glanced around the empty hall. Aside from the altar and the stone floor, there was practically nothing there. He shrugged.
But God seed surprisingly easygoing. The mont Ryo comnted on the environnt, several green shoots burst from the ground and rapidly grew into small vine-woven chairs.
Ryo sat down casually. Looking up again, he saw another chair grow three ters across from him.
He raised an eyebrow and looked toward the system core.
At that mont, soft white light enveloped the core, and within it, a silhouette slowly began to take shape.
Before long, soone stepped out from the radiance.
It was a woman wearing a classical dark-blue robe, with silver hair and crimson eyes. Her figure was graceful and breathtakingly beautiful.
Smiling at Ryo, she walked over to the chair, crossed her legs elegantly, and sat down.
"..."
Ryo paused, carefully examining the woman in front of him.
"Is there sothing strange about this appearance? You seem confused."
"...Not strange at all. If anything, it perfectly matches the essence of this world." Ryo sighed emotionally.
High School DxD… honestly, he should have seen this coming.
"...The essence of the world, hm?" She didn't deny it. As a naturally born divine being, she was, in a sense, part of the world's conceptual laws themselves. Calling her the embodint of the world's essence wasn't entirely wrong.
"I'll take that as praise, then?" she asked warmly, her smile never fading.
"You can remove the 'take that as.'"
Ryo shrugged before asking curiously. "Still, are you sure it's okay to appear as a female? The Church's records are basically the complete opposite of reality."
"It doesn't matter. The Church's records were never equal to the truth. That has always been the case."
Her tone was calm, as though she had long since grown used to it.
'Ah, so it's the classic difference between the idol fans imagine and the real person,' Ryo thought in understanding.
Still, one thing genuinely intrigued him.
"By the way... have you personally read the Bible before? I'm honestly curious."
As soon as he asked, Ryo noticed a faint blush spread across the lady god's face.
That alone answered everything.
"Oh. So you have read it."
Ryo imdiately pictured the mature beauty before him sitting there with a Bible in hand, reading all the exaggerated praise written by her followers.
His expression instantly turned blank.
He decisively shut down his facial nerves. Otherwise, he was afraid the grin tugging at his lips might scare away the great deity sitting before him.
She finally let out a soft sigh, "Admiration is the emotion furthest removed from understanding."
"I get it, I get it. So guy nad Aizen said the sa thing."
Ryo nodded, keeping a perfectly deadpan face as he asked. "Then perhaps you could explain why you were willing to expose your identity and appear before ?"
"ExE, the Evie Etoulde."
She spoke the na of another world, a designation that originated from docunts she herself had written.
"I wish to confirm your relationship with it."
"And after you confirm it?" Ryo regained control of his expression, the corners of his mouth curling into a smile. "Will you be an enemy... or a friend?"
Though he asked about what ca after, the aning in Ryo's eyes was unmistakable as he stared at the God before him.
'Give your answer regardless.'
